Hi geekers, Please, as a last resort, I am appealing to you for help. having spectacularly failed to deploy Java 5.0.52 2 weeks ago for a controlled assessment for AQA, I had to do the suite manually with less than an hour to sort it! i have read and read over the last 6 months and have yet to have a definitive way to sort Java, (flash+reader too), but mainly java gives me the stress. Last time I tried this, The offline installer msi that i grabbed from the %appdata%locallow folder appeared to deploy on computerstartup as I have verbose mode enable and could see it installing. However, when going into control panel to check the version, Java is completely destroyed saying that there is no version at all; Java icon is replaced with the unknown file icon... the really annoying thing is that this damned online test (the same one that worked with .52 three weeks ago was now demanding v.55!!!! Please could someone give me a good guide? Everyone goes on about simply deploying Java as the msi but why EVERYTIME I try this, it NEVER works? DO I need to uninstall every java on every machine to deploy this way and if so, how can i easily do it? I have spent enough hours on this and am sure there must be many ways you guys never have to worry about it like this. Please help me over this once and for all........ If it the last thing I do, I want it done and done right :-/

I'm setting up a 1709 win 10 edu build for summer deployment. I'm using applocker for the first time (I've used SRP in the past) I've enabled the service created the default rules and set enforcement. One of the default install rules allows admin users to install from anywhere. This is not working as expected and blocks my domain admin user from installing programs from a network path. The error in the event log reads: "is not permitted software restriction policy" (but I have none set, checked gpresult) is that normal for an applocker events? I've redundantly added the network path as an allow rule for installers but this didn't help... [now deleted] the error 1007 "...only allows installation of unrestricted items..." "the authorization level returned....was 0x0"

Hi. I have just taken over the management of a school network and have been tasked with installing Solus3 on to their servers. I am following the guide from capita but when the running the deployment server database installer I am able to connect to the SQL server and test connection successful but upon install I get an error saying "There is a problem with this windows installer package. a program run as part of the setup did not finish as expected. contact your personnel or package vendor" This happens when the underlying process is trying to create the database. I have tried redownloading the installer files. Same thing happens The SQL server is separate to the sims server. It uses mixed mode authentication. I have tried creating an SQL user with full SQL permissions and connected with that as well as using domain admin in mixed mode. I have tried manually creating the databases on the SQL server and the install sees it but the same error appears at the same time. The event log shows MSiInstaller Error 11722 but this is a generic failure. Has anyone had this happen to them? perhaps you can advise? thanks in advance

Okai, as said in the SP1 thread, and probably earlier on in the V3 original thread, I cannot get this flipping thing to install on a machine it was on fine with V2. It always fails at the last hurdle from what I can see on an IIS Dynamic Compression thing. Below are the copys of the two logs: and the other one, which is HUUUUUUUUUUUGE is in the attachment txt file Any thoughts anyone or suggestions? I tried the common ones that come up as google results about 4 months ago but haven't looked in a while but wonder if anyone has any thoughts. The server its running on is the DC, Sophos, DNS, WINS, DHCP, Print, File and Intranet Server (Small Primary school 25 PCs 50 kids so no seperate boxes or owt for them) 2GB Ram, 3GHz CPU, plenty of Disk Space. Hi, I'm a little stuck with applying an Exchange 2010 sp3 rollup package. I have all up to pack 11 installed but 12 fails to install with a 1603 error rolling back as soon as it stops the services. The log has a variety of errors so will post snippets of each and hopefully someone will be able to help. These errors are in reverse order with last one in the log first. Followed by There are no interim updates present in the ARP list The next is a little confusing as there only appears to be one architecture version (x64) of this rollup available as far as I can see. I've been trying to find out how to check which version of Exchange is installed but not managed to find this yet. I'm pretty sure it's 64-bit. The rollup package is x64. The next one seems contradictory as am logged on as a domain administrator which in turn has Exchange Server Administrator permissions. I've also got another domain administrator to try installing this with no luck. Then I dare say these are all errors relating to different components being installed in the rollup so hard for me to put my finger on it. I've been running the installer from an administrator prompt and UAC is disabled as per many suggestions out there. Am I missing anything obvious?

Hi, I am deploying StarOffice 9 by MSI to a bunch of laptops. Most have gone OK but some have failed saying that the deployment was suspended. I have restarted tham and they have not picked up the package again from the server. Having looked back at the logs, the server thinks that it has installed them correctly. I can't find any registry entries (althought I don't really know where to look or if they would be relevant)for the installation but there were some installed files which I have deleted. Sould I just set the group policy to remove staroffice package and then reinstall it? I'm not sure how this would affect the others that it did install on tho? I have looked at installing it manually on these machines, but the original msi is in german and is modified with an MST file! Any help appreciated! Cheers, Nic
