I would create a policy and link at the top level of pupils that allows background changing (or whatever settings you choose) Make it enforced so it takes priority over other GPOs In the scope tab remove Authenticated Users and add a group containing the pupil, something like VI_Support (I'd use a group so the settings can easily be reused should you have another with similar needs) This way, even though the policy applies to all pupil OUs, it only gets applied to pupils in the VI_Support group.

We have Genee Vision 8100 and older, but similar models.

I thought they were a waste of space, but in the last 8 years or so they have been heavily used here. Every teacher as a laptop too, but they tend to use them visualisers for all kinds of things from showing the page of the textbook for those that haven't brought it to science experiments. I've seen maths demo graph work. They may be more heavily used here as we don't generally have interactive boards

Summary: sfc /scannow seems to fix this. Details: I wouldn't normally post, but I'm keen to see if others have come across this. Yesterday a friend of a friend asked them to look at their laptop as they couldn't connect to their wireless network and that it had been working that morning (Sunday 15/6). They couldn't fix it, so they called me. I saw that the service "WLAN AutoConfig" wasn't running so went to start it and got the error: "windows could not start the WLAN autoconfig service on local computer Error 1114: a dynamic link library (DLL) initialization routine failed." Other things were broken, no eject for sticks, system restore wouldn't complete and probably a few other things. Long story short the machine was littered with malware and I said they'd be better of starting from scratch. However, I've come into work today and a member of staff has brought in their personal laptop with what appears to be the same issue and also was working yesterday morning. Also littered with malware, but I was more keen to find out the cause after seeing 2 machines with the same issue on the same day. Both laptops seemed to have Vundo and I wonder if this is the same variant of Vundo. So, if you come across the same issue, please post here, I'd love to find out if many others went down yesterday afternoon. Cheers

Try adding echo %username% >> [logfile] near the top to see what user the script is running as, it may have permission to run, but not permission the connect to the shares.

The question we asked when we left the County for email was. Oh, in case you haven't come across it, the whole IEM (Internet Explorer Maintenance) section of group policy doesn't work with IE11

To set proxy settings within the Group Policy you need to use GPP, BUT, the GPP for IE11 is only available on gpedit.msc running on Windows Server 2012+ or Windows 8+. As we don't have any licences for Server 2012, but do have SA for clients I setup and virtual Windows 8 box, installed RSAT and ran gpedit.msc from there giving me access to GPP for IE11. However, I'd recommend going down the DNS or DHCP automatic proxy configuration route.
