Thanks, how do you go about arranging the deliverables around your day job? Take a day off and meet the customer? Agree of email? phone?
-
Hmm.. sorry to bring this up, but those that do use web templates for customers, do you tell them? Is it in the design contract? Also how do you make a intial agreement with the customer?

I've been toying with the idea of opening another forum (my first is finally making it's money back... slowly). I want to make the forum about a university... However I'm concerned about Trademarks.. am I allowed to use a trademark in a domain name? The university in question has "The" on the front of their registered trademark. whilst my domain does not, my domain also appends "forum" onto the end. I have also made it as clear as possible that it's not an official site. The universities domain name does not include "unversity" and my domain does. Sensitive Naming.. the use of "university" in a product I class all my sites as products, as I currently trade under my own name. I know there are restrictions around a companies name including "university" but what about a product?

Looks good, what did you use to make the slider?

Yes but don't underestimate the cultral differences, even non multi-national companies must consider them now. As chances are a decent % of visits even to websites aimed at people living in a specific location won't actually be originally from the area (not racist, just a fact). Take the color of red for example So depending on where you are from and your culture... red could mean any of the following: - Power - Purity, Joy, and Celebration - Happiness, Luck and Prosperity - Weddings - Mourning - Communism Culture is very very stong in society still, and in my work I have to be very mindful of it. For several reasons... which I'm not going into because we could debate certain things (some I don't agree with), and I don't want it ending up on my employeers door step.

I don't think the DDA has ever been used in court against a website to date, the only records I have found of the DDA being used against UK websites is some idle threats from a Blind People Organisation to a few very high profile sites. I do however subscribe to what your saying and refer you to the WAI, as a school you should be aiming for Level 2 at least. This will pretty much ensure you are within the DDA guidelines. Their are several tools that will automaticly evaluate your site.

Funnily enough I was looking for color palletes today... Although I don't subscribe to the 'meanings' of colour, as it changes based on your geographic location, culture and other factors.

I got this today... I had some windows open as you can see, but none had been active for a while and I trust the others not to serve anything like this. I'll try to grab the relevent details next time... p.s If this is intentional (which I don't think it is but IF) I urge you to reconsider, I will never use a site that pops-up things in the middle of my screen. Regardless of how valuable a resource it is or how relevent the ad is.

To me it sounds like your reinventing the wheel, there are plenty of CMSes out there that allow permissions. Thers a pdf sticked at the top of this forum, that would make interesting reading for you I suspect. @Dave whats wrong with simply changing the name to something else? I.E U/N: Ockendon School Name: Thurrock, Essex But a quick google for twitter widgets should provide you with plenty of ones that don't use the name/username fields. As for the silverlight have you made any consideration to how google and the like would see the site? as well as the WAA requirements. If it's anything like a flash based website you will have no end of issues.

Renamed the cashless card for the UoL (soon to be called "lecard", pending approval from the director)... Although we have to figure out how to recall 10,000 of the current ones without any contact information other than a telephone number... Mass SMS I think...

Lol if you point the camera to the opposite side of the road from the school... There appears to be a tramp, with a bottle of blue lightning cider.. and if you go down the road a bit and look back he's giving someone the finger...
-
Gated roads do actually exist... around here we have several with cattle grids... I suppose in the dark, train tracks could easily be mistaken.. Also I'm sure there are some areas that have double gates instead of cattle grids to keep livestock in... I know of one from the top of my head..

I like that qoute... and will find a use for it before the weeks end..

At first I though she was going to put her hand in the spray... (you only do that once) -
I don't think this is true in a well run business every 'choice' will have it's advantages and disadvantages weighed, and a senior staff member will make the choice for everyone based on whats best for the business.

Do you prefer working in the public or private sector?
mossj replied to sonofsanta's topic in General Chat
Private sector. Better pay + More Respect.... As for the private sector splashing cash everywhere??? Don't think that happens at all, at the end of the day businesses don't spend money were they don't need to, in order to maximize profit.
