However, now we have middle names for them both instead of them being: 07BloggsJn 07BloggsJn1 They're now 07BloggsJG and 07BloggsJC, should really be Jy and Js with our naming convention but it just helps generally being able to say are you J G Bloggs or J C Bloggs.

Okay this is where it gets a little fun. Here's my problem: We've just upgraded one of our feeder schools to CC4 (don't even start on that one ) and I'm in the process of packaging software on a lovely development server that we have on loan from RM. I've packaged the software into an MSI and imported it into the management console and allocated it out. No problems. The software runs fine as a System Administrator but doesn't as a student. I've so far determined that it launches SCEX.exe (in the Prog Files) which utilises the Windows NT DOS Virtual Machine (ntvdm.exe) from the System32 directory. So I went and set up the necessary exceptions but it still doesn't work I imagine because it has some ridicoulous process in the middle which indicates SCEX.exe launches X then that launches ntvdm.exe. Anyone had any dealings with this software? or can anyone suggest an application which would possibly help me detect what the application is launching/files it's accessing? I'm pretty sure it's just a case of setting up another exception but as to what I'm not sure and the company ceased to exist years ago.

Using LDAP here with the following setup in two schools: CachePilot Groups SiteCode_Students SiteCode_Staff SiteCode_Open etc Users Internet_Students Internet_Staff Internet_Open etc Groups set up first and then user matched to most appropriate group. LDAP configured: Server IP: 10.x.x.x User Dir: OU=Establishments,DC=schoolname,DC=internal User: CPAdmin,OU=CP Pass: Web Access: authorised users; url-filter AD Side Security groups set up to match CachePilot Users with Establishments\SiteCode Users Internet_Students Internet_Staff Internet_Open etc Then obviously network users are members of the appropriate groups. AD Structure |schoolname.internal -Establishments --SiteCode --CP CPAdmin is a member of the OU=CP at the same level as SiteCode with just Domain Users membership. Password same as in CachePilot LDAP settings. If your cachepilot already runs off schoolname.internal the same as your network then this should just work a treat. If not you could always get it changed to that - two minute job (unless you have to wait around for your lea to do it). In which case you're probably on schoolname.local so you need to do some DNSing: DNS Under Foward Lookup Zones create a new zone called 'local' then a new domain called *the bit before .local (whatever your CachePilot prompts with on authentication)* then within that domain create an A record named cachepilot pointing to the cachepilot IP Address. Hope this helps you get it working.

Dire internet speeds today and before HT

I originally blocked iGoogle but due to cookies being present on some profiles that had used iGoogle it soon became a bit of a pain in the neck to constantly be dealing with people who had Google blocked. After looking through the logs I realised that the iGoogle modules had a base url of gmodules.com so I blocked *.gmodules.com which pretty much renders iGoogle pages useless. I will look at the redirect url above as a method to finally get rid of iGoogle properly but in the meantime blocking *.gmodules.com has helped a lot.

It has been great PR for TPB! I can't see the site coming down any time soon. There is now lots of discussion over whether companies should be suing the BBC and co media sites for linking to TPB... Aren't they in effect aiding and abetting the distribution of copyright material? It sure is going to be an interesting story over the next 12 months and beyond. Where does it end?

Either way the case turned out all the case has done is provide the biggest marketing and advertisement position for TPB. The entire media is making TPB known about and no doubt so will the companies press releases for those that are involved. More users = More downloads. It's a like the CEOP and album cover censoring a few months back - it's having the adverse effect.
