  4. Hi Guys, I am hoping that someone out there can help me out. I have installed WSS in a simple farm (two servers) the first server is hosting the administration site and the second server which also have SQL installed is hosting the sharepoint site. I have created 4 accounts in AD setup account, farm account, search service account and search content account. The setup account is a member of the administrators group on both servers. SQL 2005 standard is installed using the default instance and using the LATIN_GENERAL_CI_AS_KS_WS collation setting. Have also configure SQL surface area. I have added the setup account to SQL login and make it a member of the SQL db_creator and db_securityadmin. I ran setup on the first server which complets successfully. The administration site opens up successfully. I then ran setup on the second server after setup completes i start the search service, create a new web application, create a site collection and the site list. Having done all this when i tried to access the site i get the error message cannot connect to the configuration database. Can some please help me to identify where i have gone wrong. Any help is greatly appreciated
  5. Thanks for you quick reply will have a look at this link Cheers
  6. Hi Guys, Am i wright in saying that WSS only allows for a stadalone install using the internal datatabse (SQL EXPRESS 2005), so if i want to use of a lincense copy of SQL i would need MOSS. Therefore the limitation of using WSS is that you are limited to 4GB database and fewer features. Feed back is greatly appreciated Thanks Len
  7. Thanks for your replies AD manager plus seems like the way forward here. can you let me know roughly how much it costs?
  8. Hi Guys, Is there a software or script out there that will automatically disable a user account if not used for a specified period of time. Please let me know if there is such a thing as manual disabling is very time consuming. I would really appreciate some help on this Thanks
  9. Hi Guys i got it working now figured it out Cheers
  10. Hi Guys i am a bit stuck here just wondering if you could shed some light. I have downloaded the WSS and MOSS HomeDrive webpart. Have renamed the HomeDrive.CAB file to HomeDrive.WSP. I ran the stsadm -o addsolution -filename HomeDrive.WSP. This was successfuly added. I then ran stsadm -o deploysolution -name homedrive.wsp -url http://servername/site -allowgacdeploy -local. This again was successful. I then ran stsadm -o copyappbincontent. Can you please tell me what next do i need to do to allow my users to click on the hyperlink and see there files for there home areas. Thanks
  11. WSS and MOSS HomeDrive.wsp file, can you please advise if it is added to WSS using stsadm in the same way you add the WSS and MOSS templates? or is it done a different way. Please advise
