I get errors. I'm having problems getting 'libmotif3', It's not in pclinos synaptic. Any idea were I can get it from.? I had the citrix connection to the school working. From the menu box that comes up (Screen shot 1) I have told it to send to desktop and ticked the "do this each time box" it then puts 'launch.ica' on the desktop, I can then click on that and I have associated it with the 'wfica' part and it then opens up the program ok. I need to get rid of the "desktop" stage, how do in set it so it opens when I first get the menu as Screen shot 1 ?. How do I undo the 'do this each time box' ?

I have only been using Linux for two weeks I think I have done what you say, But It does nothing !. Re "you may also need to 'sudo apt-get install libmotif3" this is not in 'synaptic' what is it for ?. Why does it show windows drivers on screen shot 2 & 3 ?. Does what drivers on the school side have any effect on the client side eg. would the school have to have some Linux citrix server drivers or does it not work like that.?.

Hello All. I'm going over from XP to PCLos 2007 at home and I am trying to get the Citrix client to work for a connection to my daughters school for homework. I have installed the client to /usr/lib/ICAClient/ICAClient, When I come to test the connection, I can log to the homework web site, click on say.. 'Word' , next the login details box, But next I get open with Kwrite (screen shot 1 ), If I click ok I get the detail in the screen shot 2 & 3 . Are those driver details for windows at the bottom on screen shot 3 ?, If they are will I have to get the school to add some Linux driver details . Or am I doing something else wrong ?. I use 'Smoothwall' and have the required port open for the service to work ( works ok on xp ). Michael.

Just an Update to say we get FREE Phone calls now with this ISP at Home...

Hello all. We are just having a GAS service connected at home. Which company are you with ?, do you have gas and electric from the same company ?, are you satisfied with them ?. I do realise that not all companies serve the whole country. Michael

Hi Geof It's a stand a-loan machine in an office not connected to a server. It only seems to do it at random, you can be logged on for some time and then if you want to change user or log off yourself then try to log on another user it will not let you from the welcome screen. Michael.

I have one machine (XP Pro, One administrator, and Three User settings.) That you sometimes loose the ability to log on from the welcome screen, (But you can always press "control,alt,delete" Twice), to get the network type of log on screen, then you can still log on. Its Not On The Domain !. Does anyone Know of any fix's for this. Michael.

Thanks for that. Now it looks like this is working, tried it on a test machine did this 'Regedit' , I rebooted 5 times and my account was there each time . I think the first fix from 'dougs' web site only works if your Administrators account is called "Administrator" (not a good idea !). I had to follow the note below to add my admin account name to the registry . Michael. 1. Launch Registry Editor. 2. Navigate to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\Winlogon\SpecialAccounts\UserList in the Registry Editor. 3. Double-click the Administrator key in the right pane. 4. If the Administrator key doesn’t exist, right-click on the above tree in the pane, choose New, DWORD Value, name it Administrator and press . 5. Type 1 in the “Value data” box, and press . Note.. that the Registry Key need not be ‘Administrator’, it could occur that the default administrator account has been renamed, in which case the Key should be whatever the new name is, e.g. ‘Joe’ DWORD 0×1

Ok I take it all back this fix does not work "Enable Administrator account on Welcome Screen" from http://www.dougknox.com , my administrators account does not show on the 'welcome' screen (Only worked once). Anybody any ideas ?. Michael.

You saved the Day. Thanks. "press ctrl+alt+del. The 'Normal Login Screen' should appear." It did after a reboot. (I have been using W2K For years, I have a lot to learn ). So if I load up "xp_unhide_users.vbs" Script it should show my proper Administrators account on the log-in page ?. Do I put it in the startup folder ?. Start / run gpedit.msc Computer Configuration / Windows Settings / Scripts (Startup / Shutdown). add the script there.? Michael.

I'm doing an upgrade on an office machine from W2K Pro to XP Pro. not on a domain. First upgrade failed (thank you to Norton Ghost for saving the day) !. Second attempt went ok, But my main administrators account is missing on the log-in page. The 3 user accounts are there and accessible, I always have a second administrators account on all my machines (Just as a back-up to get in ..thank goodness I did !) , now its this second account that's showing on the log-in page. I can get access to C:, Documents and settings.. my administrators account is there, but its labled Administrator and NOT what it should be. If I got now to Computer Management,Users and Groups, my administrators account is there with its proper name. So how do I get it on to the log-in page with out loosing any of my settings and short cuts etc.?.. Michael..

I do not think I have that enabled but I will have a look tomorrow.

Hi Peter. It's a Asrock MoBo with a bios date of 28/10/2004. Hard drive 1 is also a 40Gb Maxtor (the other one is a Samsung) that's showing 41.11Gb in Bios and 38.2 in Disk Manager. Michael.

Hi Geoff and ITWombat thanks for reply. I think I was over tied last night, Its a spare machine I'm testing out VMware Server. I got it to recognise it, But its only now showing 33.82Gb in Bios and 31.49Gb in Disk Manager. What has happened to the other missing Gb's. ?. Do you normally use Master / Slave or Cable select ?. with one or more drives. Michael.

I have a 40Gb hard drive but it only recognising 6.9Gb and I'm dammed if I can think of how to get it to recognise the full 40 ish Gb. Michael Os=XP Pro

I have only realised that I have Dyslexia once I started helping our local school and had a long talk to the head about my problems with spelling ,words, lack of understanding about use of there, their, were, where etc. While I worked as a scientist (now retired ) for 30 years I struggled to get on because of my spellings and maths . It took me 1 year to get over my fears about joining my first forum,this forum (unfounded fears lol ! ) , once I took the first steps last July 06 I have joined about 10 technical web sites forums, because I found that I could write first in the 'write' page in my mail browser and then spell check it, cut and then paste it into the forums ( you could use any word processor ) . Dyslexics have there brain segments in different sizes to the norm we are cr*p at spelling etc. but good with our hands, That seems true with me, I have designed and built my own house brick by brick and could take any car engine to pieces and put it all back again with out manuals. What would help . Is there any Free speech to text software ?. so we can just talk into a mic and it would type and automatically spell check it .
