Picadilly line trains will not be stopping at Kings Cross at the weekend, H&C is also suspended, hence the need to take the Victoria line to Green Park. Edit: Ignore, just realised you were probably refering to Leco's question.
-
Yeah, closures are usually only ever scheduled at the weekend/bank holidays etc. The closures shouldn't have much effect on your journey, as it just involves taking an alternative line for part of the journey.
-
Welcome to London. You could normally do it on Picadilly then the District from Earls Court, but in this case you'd need to take the Victoria line from Kings X to Green Park first. If you haven't already done so, refer to English - Journey Planner - Transport for London Also, here's a map with this weekend's closures highlighted: Planned engineering works for this weekend | Transport for London

Did you come across this in your search? ERTE - Add Flash, Iframes, etc. to SharePoint 3.0 Rich text Does it look like it does what you need? I haven't tried it so can't commend on the quality.

I have two IIS websites pointing to the same Eclipse.net config and database. I have two IIS sites so that I can have integrated authentication internally on port 80, and basic on port 443 for external access, with the default domain specified. I believe that when both of these methods of authentication are usually enabled on the same site, the default domain is usually ignored resulting in the basic auth'd user having to enter the domain\username, as opposed to just the username. This worked fine up until the latest update (9.11.27.1308) at which point, when the user tries to access using integrated authentication, Eclipse tries to load the thumbnail images on the front page from the external address, resulting in numberous basic authentication prompts. It seems that since the update, Eclipse has started using the 'external' IIS site, as opposed to the 'internal' one to get requests by default. Any idea where this config is stored? I suspect it may be in the app_data\settings.xml but the file seems to be encrypted, presumably to force you to use the Configure front end. This has been with MLS for over a week, but they don't seem to know what the problem is. Anyone here have any experience/ideas? Thanks

That's right, you licence per socket (ie physical processor). Edit: To clarify, a datacentre socket licence would allow you to run an unlimited number of virtual copies of Windows Server on that server. You'd purchase the number of licences for the number of processors in that server, dual processor server = 2 datacentre licenses.

I think around £200 per socket. I don't know whether MS Education pricing varies between schools, or if they're all the same.

Yes, it is.

Becta Home Access Scheme - any concrete information yet?

Ok, so 7 Home OEM upgrade to 7 Pro upgrade to obtain KMS it is then. Thanks all for your input. Thanks, I'll have a read.
-
Thanks for your prompt replies. I usually purchase from Ramesys too. I wanted to avoid having to enter keys at all, would KMS let me activate clients silently/transparently? I'd intend to use WDS to deploy a sysprep'd image. Could a MAK key be entered into the image then deployed, or would it need to be entered post-deployment? Select Plus is a volume licence. Yes, this is a query about new hardware, as per the title.

Just wondering the best way to go about licensing Windows 7, particularly in respect of the activation process/requirement. I intend to use Windows 7 Professional, so I guess my options are to a) buy Windows 7 Pro OEM, or b) buy Windows 7 Home Premium OEM and then upgrade to Windows 7 Pro with volume licensing. We have a Select Plus agreement, no School Agreement. I obviously want to avoid individually activating OEM copies, am I right to assume that I could only use KMS if I went with option B?

We use Attix5 to backup our MIS data, this complements the usual tape backup.

Np. Out of interest were those conflicting stories from Capita, or other SLG sites, or both?
-
Afaik you should install the SLG update first because SLG is compatible with the current and two previous versions of SIMS. Therefore if you upgrade SIMS to a newer version than SLG, some web parts may not work as expected. Although SLG should support the three most recent versions, I've noticed issues that could only be resolved by upgrading SIMS to the same version as SLG. With that in mind, I wait for SLG to become available before contemplating upgrading SIMS.

I'd set the GP startup script executable to %windir%\system32\reg.exe and the parameter as IMPORT regfilename.reg. Then just drop regfilename.reg into the group policy startup script files folder.

Of BeyondExec, PSShutdown and Shutdownertron, I've found BeyondExec to be the best for our needs, as it allows the most centralised control. I did have problems with it crashing while trying to shutdown hundreds of machines when running it from my workstation, but since moving it to a virtual server in isolation I haven't had problems with it.

PDFCreator is good. I haven't done it yet, but apparently you can install on your printer server and just share it out and map the clients to it.
-
If you've got the latest version then that command won't help you because you've already run the batch file mentioned by DrPerception, which includes that command on the last line.
-
I know you said you've tried all the usual, but just wanted to check that you'd downloaded the latest WUA and re-run wuauclt /detectnow /resetauthorization?

You could use Office Custom Maintenance Wizard to generate a cmw file, then apply it in a startup script to modify existing installations without reinstalling.
-
That's what I do, it's scheduled for 6:30 Monday, and I use WOL to start the computers up earlier on Mondays to ensure they're ready for people to logon.
-
While that's fairly sensible advice for those unfamiliar with RM CC*, it's not fair to say that you can't use standard MMCs for a lot of admin tasks as you would with vanilla workstations, once you know what will/won't cause problems.
-
So, are you saying that you want to move the computer/user accounts outside the parent Establishments OU? If this is the case, I don't think you'll be able to use the RM Management Console to manage them. Even it was technically possible, I suspect you'd be be making problems for yourself in the future when you need support from RM, or come to install and RM update (eg a service release). Or are you saying that when you create an account in the RMMC, it creates the Active Directory account in a different OU than the one you expected?

If a rebuild with the latest HSP doesn't fix, can you clarify whether you see the Applying Computer/Security settings messages while they start Windows? Assuming you are able to eventually logon, or remotely access the computer, do you see any errors in the Windows app/sys logs relating to network issues, such as "can't find domain/any domain controllers"? If you see these then this type of issue can usually be resolved/worked-around by updating NIC drivers, adjusting switch settings, or adjusting the network/DHCP timeout settings in the registry.
