  1. Yes, looks very useful if you don't currently have a solution to this common requirement. What change does it make to the clients to disable internet acccess?
  2. Have you got any K8600s? We did used to use Business Inkjet 2800 but they continually had paper (mis)feed problems? Just wondering what A3 paper feed experience on the k8600 is like. Thanks.
  3. I was going to ask a similar question. Does anyone know of an LCD monitor that has a standard aspect ratio, built-in PSU, height-adjustable stand and hard glass (19")? We used to buy Belinea and GNR, but they have both ceased trading.
  4. I fell foul of this as well (repackaging), then I saw on another forum that it already comes as an MSI. I think because 6 didn't, I expected 7 to be a legacy EXE installer as well. Just extract the exe out which produces the MSI ready to deploy.
  5. And you can do it in previous versions with Nested MSIs.
  6. Try Modify>Canvas>Image Size, ensure the size is specified in pixels and press OK. Try saving again.
  7. I didn't think you should expect to see the live database files as flat files in the backup, even when you have the SQL agent. I believe you should see the SQL instances and databases available to backup/restore as a separate node, similar to how AD and system state are represented. I use dbattach as the primary backup method and the BE SQL agent as secondary. The only SQL services we used to stop/start were the SQL Anywhere services for FMS.
  8. That's promising, thanks Richard. Will give it another go.
  9. The View Your Profile and Open Contacts menu links seem to link to invalid locations from the home page. These links seem to be fine everywhere else.
  10. Have many sharepoint users had a need to create custom workflows in VS? I need to create a workflow that will modify permissions on an item dependent upon that state of various fields in a list. Eg when field_a=true then set permissions xyz and so on. This tutorial seems to be going in the right direction of what I want: Enabling Data-Driven Permissions in SharePoint Using Windows Workflow Richard Seroter’s Architecture Musings From what I've read, I think I'd also need to tweak this to run with elevated permissions as workflows usually run in the context of the user (right?). I downloaded the WSS3 development image for Virtual Server and had a go at following the instructions on the blog. For someone that hasn't used VS2k8 or had any experience of developing workflows this was an up-hill struggle. Before I persevere any more with this I was hoping someone could take a look at the sample code and just let me know whether it should run on WSS ok. I don't think there should be any MOSS-specific dependencies, but I had to remove a couple of lines from the VS SP WF template to get it to compile on a WSS machine as per: SharePoint ShareNotes ShareThoughts !!!: The type or namespace name 'Office' does not exist in the namespace 'Microsoft' Any advice much appreciated, Thanks.
  11. How slow is slow? If a new colour laser is too fast, you could consider buying a refurb printer (from ICT Direct for instance).
  12. You mentioned a firewalled and filtered internet connection, but what about attack/risk from inside the school?
  13. Thanks for the reply, we usually don't experience problems with JetDirects. This particular one has been working for the past two years without issue. I've already tried enable the slp keepalive, but this doesn't help. Just tried increasing the MAC to 900 on the switch, again no joy. I don't think this issue is related to something timing out because as soon as I switch the printer on, if I ping it with buffer size =>2000 it will cause the aforementioned service error.
  14. I have a problem where a printer keeps going offline (not responding to ping), the printer display panel doesn't show anything wrong. I believe this is because the printer isn't handling some network activity. If I ping with the defaults (in Windows) it's fine. If I ping with a larger buffer size (eg ping -l 5000 -i 200 -w 500 it causes the printer to report service error: 49.ff09 and requires a reboot. I've tried the same on another 2420, but the other printer handles this ping fine. I've tried upgrading the firmware from 20050823 08.109.2 to 20070410 08.112.3. This reported service error 49.4c18 part way through. On rebooting, the jetdirect interface reports the new firmware version. I tried re-running the upgrade, but the same error is reported. If I plug in a jetdirect in the EIO, it seems to work fine and pinging doesn't cause it to crash, so the issue seems to be limited to the on-board NIC? Any ideas what component could be causing the issue?
  15. There's also no longer a free edition, right?
  16. No it's the same, 443 by itself is just fine for 2003 too.
  17. Do you have a software restrictions policy defined? Is it a startup or logon script? If so, does the respective computer or user account have read permission on the share and NTFS? Failing that, can you run the executable from Run as \\SERV01\RPM$\client.exe data=\\SERV01\RPM$\Data ? If so, try adding that to the GPO directly instead of using the batch file.
  18. So can you see two mailboxes of the same name (the new and the old) in Exchange system manager? If so you should be able to delete the new mailbox, then re-connect the old mailbox to your new AD account by right clicking on it in system manager. Exchange Server 2003 Mailbox Recovery
  19. Can't get it either, source must be corrupt.
  20. I thought the Windows external connector stipulated that it's for use by non-employees. I suppose it's possible that RM have an exception(?) to this general rule for this licence. I've e-mailed them to clarify. I have had a similar issue in the past where RM have given incorrect advice about external Exchange access licensing, only when I presented them with Microsoft's response did they concede that the standard MS licence stood.
  21. Going by the response posted by Tony from MSUK, RM must be wrong in respect of the external connector covering everyone: RM.com Shop: RM EasyLink 2 As I understand it you'd buy as many Windows user CALs for employees as will need remote access, so you're licensing the number of people, not the number of devices they will use to access your servers.
  22. You can setup file and registry exclusion lists (.xcp) so that these system entries are ignored and not added to the package. I found the Windows Installer documentation on MSDN to be useful when working with table editors such as Orca: http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/aa368259(VS.85).aspx I use Wise Package Studio here for repackaging and either use InstallTailor, Orca or Instedit for transforming vendor packages.
  23. After setting the option to ignore language have you set the package to redeploy?
  24. We have several RM boards, I'm pretty sure the board manufacturer is GTCO Calcomp and the software is Interwrite as suggested.
  25. I was under the impression that it used DHCP, although v2 can also take input from a text file to support non-DHCP clients. Are the DNS settings in DHCP correct?
