Check DNS records 1st.

Your external records in DNS dont seem to be setup. How do you access OWA externally? Have you setup the DNS records for autodiscover? What names do you have on your cert?

Right I see your issue now. Either they have to allow through or it wont really work. OA uses 443, so I assume they have blocked to that Exch server? What if at this school you try to the OWA namespace, does that work?

Or just send yourself an email and have alook at the message headers, it will show the Exch version
