I bought mine from an online shop. Was a bit pricy at around £500 but i funded it by selling my old TP1 and the Blackberry Bold i got for my upgrade so didnt cost me really any 'real' cash in the end.

That looks pretty awesome. Some of my schools are looking into moveable class sets of Netbooks next year, one of those looks idea. Looks pricey though

Got my XIBO installation up and running, Im very happy with it for free.. it would be nice to have batch uploads etc of images but what ive got is much better than what i was using before. The RSS feeds are a nice touch. Does anyone know if its possible to add a twitter feed in?

Id just fit it for free and make a cheeky remark when doing it. I do a few teachers machines \ laptops, never hurts to make yourself liked by the staff. They usually furnish me with a bottle of wine or something similar when i see them again which is always nice.

Go apache friends - xampp Download the windows version of that, it installs and configures PHP and MYSQL. on the XIBO site the instuctinos for installing it are using XAMPP so its a doddle

I use is in some of my schools but only in a limited way, we use the calendars linked to our blackberries so they Heads and Office staff can have a shared calendar. Our schools are only small so its cheaper (free) compared to something like exchange. Works pretty well with that. Sunderland Uni have migrated all student and staff email over to it.

Hi guys, The server in one of my primary schools is running Ranger. Its a pretty old server now so we are looking to get a new one in its place. The server software however was only installed last year so id like to keep all the AD accounts and files as they are. Is there any fast way of doing this?

Still with smartwater youd have to mark all the components still. One of the schools i went to had strengthened metal cases around the machines, all you could do was turn them on and reset them.

Any particular reason why your just looking at those? I have a Samsung NC10 , everything flies and it has a stupid battery life

You dont have to pass them but if you do its somethign to add to your CV. Ill definately reccomend them, well run course with all the materials and an awesome meal every day! Id definately say its worth doing the course rather than self stuffy becasue a lot of the things explained and talked about dont appear in the book.

Ive just installed a Dell with one of those locked laptop drives. When i read the documentation it said to boot from the original install disk and that would do a secure erase if the password was lost

Forgive my cluelessness but if i use this on a device that only needs 5v 2.4a what will happen?

Contacting them was the first idea but there isnt a brand name anywhere on the device It literally just says "Fast Fiber Converter" , underneath it just has printed the pibre size and wavelength so no joy on that. I havent been able to find a power supply to go with it, i cant seem to find anything that runs at 2.4a , i picked up a multi converter unit and that did the correct voltake but its ampage was too low so the device wouldnt function properly

One of my primary schools has fibre running from the main comms cabinet to comms cabinets A and B througout either end of the school. This has all worked fine until yesterday where one of the fibre units went off. I unplugged the converter from comms A and tried it on the main comms cabinets power (they both have identical converters) and it works. Yay i thought and went out hunting for a new power supply, unfortunately it seems the converter uses at 5v 2.4A adapter which i cant find anywhere! Now to get them back online im a bit confused.. should i percivere and try and find an adapter or do i just get a new fibre converter? If i do are there different types and what should i look for?
