Lightspeed - iOS filtering
DBazeley95 replied to techie17's topic in Internet Related/Filtering/Firewall
The iPads have to be 1:1 with a Teacher/Staff/Student account, the account needs to have an email address to match against in Lightspeed Filter. In the past I have setup [email protected] as a way around it, then I know which device is doing what in Filter. -

Can you remove the other web filter profile and see if it starts working? -

HAP Not picking up new domain controllers
DBazeley95 replied to ctstone's topic in Home Access Plus+
Hi Nick, Thanks for your response. 1. The server is a member server 2. We are using the full domain name 3. We are using pre-10.6 4. Unfortunately not ready for this yet. 5. We have changed our Domain Controllers names but retained the IPs of the domain controllers. Would you recommend running the same setup.aspx fix you have suggested? 6. I'd love to move to SharePoint but that is in the pipeline.- 10 replies

Good Morning All, Just wondered if anyone here has migrated away from DBPrimary mail (for staff) to Office 365 and if you have how did you do it? We are having non-stop issues with emails not arriving and their support hasn't been able to advise us on anything as of yet. I am looking at the IMAP migration tool in Office 365 but I don't even have a copy of their IMAP server details. Kind Regards Daniel

Have you accepted the new terms and agreements in Apple School Manager?

If you are using Windows 10, from memory the application does not work very well. We used the standard Windows 10 camera app.

We sometimes use CPC for bulk orders of SSDs, for example; https://cpc.farnell.com/wd/wds120g2g0a/ssd-2-5-sata-6gb-s-120gb-wd-green/dp/CS31557?st=120%20gb

Microsoft is building a Chromium-powered web browser that will replace Edge
DBazeley95 replied to Arthur's topic in IT News
Have you managed to deploy the browser via WSUS? Mine is downloaded and approved but every client PC I try isn't pulling the update. -
I have had limited luck, from my testing it seems to work but not on a system with other GPOs applied, I think something may be clashing.
-
Thanks, that worked perfectly. Have you managed to get Internet Explorer mode working, if you have tried?

Afternoon All. I have been setting up the policies required for testing the new Microsoft Edge on Windows 10. I have managed to configure the default search provider to be Google using the following URL; https:/www.google.com/search?q={searchTerms} but I cannot get search suggestions to work. Anyone know what the correct URL would be? Kind Regards Daniel

The original article was for a different issue but helped with ours so just wanted to share to help. I will also try your Registry entry to see if that helps things here thanks.
-
There is a registry key for this setting: for "Show Online storage when saving files" HKEY_CURRENT_USER\SOFTWARE\Adobe\Acrobat Reader\DC\AVGeneral\bToggleCustomSaveExperience for "Show Online storage when opening files" HKEY_CURRENT_USER\SOFTWARE\Adobe\Acrobat Reader\DC\AVGeneral\bToggleCustomOpenExperience Both need to be created, they are a reg_dword and setting them to 1 will disable this functionality. Information was taken and adapted from; https://superuser.com/questions/1082516/disable-new-save-as-popup-in-adobe-reader-dc
-
Unfortunately not as I was only working on one affected machine.
-
I had the same issue and completed following; Open Acrobat Reader > Click Edit > Preferences > General > untick Show Online storage when opening files > untick Show Online storage when saving files > finally tick Use only certified plug-ins

The performance benefits for SSDs is great providing you buy reasonable quality drives, easily offsets the decrease in storage space available on the drive. I personally agree with replacing SATA drives with SSDs, it just makes the PC feel more responsive and boot times definitely improve.
