  1. DfE are running webinars on this every Tuesday - I attended one last week and they took questions and issued slides afterwards. They are saying "We encourage Wave 4 schools to submit at least a partial claim before the 24th February 2023."
  2. Ok it strikes me that all the domains you mention are eight characters long. Eight used to be the limit for DOS file names. So off the top of my head I have three theories - 1. Mistaken assumption / habit. Someone was stuck on the notion that important names need to be eight characters maximum. 2. Historical names. The schools already had names created for older systems that required eight characters maximum, these names were retained for consistency. 3. Cross system compatibility. Other systems in use had an eight character limit so eight was used for the domain name to be compatible when communicating.
  3. Well according to feedback the nephew was 'hyperventilating' over the cards he got, so I guess we managed to hit the nail on the head. Thanks everyone for your help !
  4. Just been looking up prices, oh my. I used to have two black lotuses amongst others. I still have a pile of common cards and some go for $20-40. Going to root in the loft tomorrow. Stomped round the city at lunchtime having no luck getting Pokémon cards, last shop I tried were the only ones to have a good select of cards and some boxed sets. I approached the counter asking for advice and a nice young lady said "I collect Pokémon !". Great advice given and a boxed set acquired. It appears some boxed sets headline a particular creature and have V star cards, plus a jumbo card and some Lost Origin packs and the featured creature wasn't Pikachu. I think this has ticked all the boxes.
  5. I got into it with the original unlimited edition set, looking at prices these days I wish I'd held onto them !
  6. Thanks everyone for your advice. I know from childhood experience that there's huge delight if someone buys you something from one of your geek areas of interest but also significant disappointment if they don't get it right, and that's a risk I'd like to try and minimise. But it feels a nicer option than just giving them money or taking them to the shop to choose for themselves. Sadly my favoured local games shop where I could hope to find expertise doesn't stock them. Said it's the only time he's ever had a break in is when he stocked Pokémon cards and that's all they stole.
  7. Hi Everyone, My wife's nine year old nephew has requested some Pokémon cards for Christmas. Specifically he has said "V star lost origin jumbo cards not pikachu". Can anyone help translate what he's after ? Thanks

  12. In almost all cases it isn't. This is why phishing is so prevalent these days. OSes are actually pretty secure, certainly compared with the past, the attackers pretty much need to get hold of a compromised account to do their work. No matter how good the security of your OS is, it can't do much if legitimate users give away their login details.
