We're inclined to blame BT for port blocking as we're having major issues with our leased line and they've closed almost everything apart from port 80TCP and 443TCP/UDP...not impressed as we asked them to open everything and we'll handle the closures on our internal firewalls.

Check for Active Directory accounts - make sure they have an account or service attached. Change any PW's or remove accounts you're not sure of. Check the router or servers for any VPN connections as they may allow connections in. Check for any remote software VNC/Teamviewer/Logmein etc. If in doubt, uninstall it. Check for any skeleton keys or keyloggers etc. Beyond that, I wouldn't worry too much about backdoors in. The rest, everyone has covered.

My brother in law works in IT for Barclays bank, and he's been on dialysis for the past 3 years whilst waiting for a willing matching donor for a kidney. He has dialysis on Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday. He is 28 and is expected to live into his late 40s if he doesn't get a new set of kidneys. He works still but doesn't exert himself too much, and has 2 of the afternoons off that he gets the dialysis (its been amended in his contract). He still advises from home whilst having the dialysis done as the process is around 4 hours a time. I'll see about getting his contact info for you.

Not me, but there was a chap from Edugeek (can't think of his name) that had built sensors into certain rooms so that the lights came on automatically (bathroom for example). I thought that was cool. He explained that on a website which is no longer available. I *think* it was @browolf perhaps, or @Marci ...one of those 2 I am sure. *edit* I myself have automated downstairs lamps in the front room when the outside gets below a certain level of light outside. Works like a charm, and we only switch it off when we go to bed, and I turn it on when I get up in the morning.

Depends on the need. Some sites have been Wordpress because of its ease of use. Some sites have been e107 because of the modifications for the gaming community. Some sites have been phpnuke because its all the admins knew and didn't want to change from that. Some sites have been Joomla because they're very functional and good looking with the right theme. Some I have custom built from scratch, with no CMS, just pages and links, because that was all that was requested.

If you go with Samsung, it will clone the machine directly to the SSD, so you can remove the previous HDD as a snapshot "to the date of upgrade".

basically we want to have the exchange changed from server.company.local to be server.company.co.uk to correspond with our website. It was set up in 2013, and the AD is the same. I would love to go through a rebuild of the servers but that's not an option

Does anyone have a guide I could follow for changing the .local to .co.uk on the exchange server WITHOUT me having to recreate the exchange server from scratch?

When working in education, I installed the tools by default because of the fact that there are some softwares that may require it, was worthwhile doing.
