The First Purge it was ok - started off a bit slow and boring, but got better as it turned into a dumb action film I was hoping for more of an origins tale of how The Purge started, but it didn't really explain much more than had been said in the other three films.

[movie] Star Wars: Episode IV sound design explained by Ben Burtt
admars replied to 6Foot2's topic in TV & Movies
Ta, I'll watch that later a few years ago, (actually, probably 20 years ago), there was an exhibition about Star Wars at the Barbican - had costumes, props, parts of sets, models, matt paintings etc and part of that was devoted to sounds, about reversing animal calls, electric razors in sinks etc -
it's been so long I'll have to watch them all from the beginning again

Change of tone last night - watched the first episode of the new Alan Partridge series - actually in some ways similar "did they really just say that?" Very funny, and also uncomfortable, but this time in a good way The lady presenter was brilliant as well.

Last night we watched the new Louis Theroux - The Night in question (about sexual assault accusations on uni campus)- interesting as always, no answers. Strange there being "assembly" for freshers on how to behave Reminds me of that tea analogy that did the rounds about you wouldn't force someone to drink a cup of tea if they changed their mind, I don't remember ever being taught how to treat ppl, I'm pretty sure I was a typical teenage boy, and just got used to not getting what I wanted Sometimes wish he would return to light and fluffy stuff for change of pace.

A friend saw them recently said they were still great, you could tell Keith had been hitting the gym a lot to keep up the showmanship.

Half term kids showing of Spider-man : Into the Spider-verse this morning £3.75 each for four of us (glad didn't get round to seeing it at Christmas ), money well spent, missus and I loved it, kids sat pretty still and were surprisingly quiet for 2 hrs

i'm using inbuilt one again now, I've dabbled with various free ones such as avast, avira, bitdefender on various installs depending on what was getting best reviews at the time, some i moved away from as I got fed up with the nag screen, some weren't as resource friendly as I wanted. the last one i moved away from was bitdefender free as it was crash explorer too frequently on the missus' Win10 laptop
-
well, I bought this for the missus as a stocking filler, glad i didn't pay for us to see it at the cinema! It was kind of entertaining, but a bit daft, glad unlike with the other films we didn't rewatch all the predecessors! It's not as good as the good ones, but not as bad as the 3d one was from what I recall. Anyone want to buy a used copy of Jigsaw, only used once

Interestingly, when I go to use the app on the Virgin Tivo box, and try to watch the new Black Mirror, it warns me that the interactive stuff won't work, so I'll use PS4 and app, and it looks like I can use either the netflix app on my phone, or use the ps4 second screen app on the phone as a remote!
-
Sadly PS3 blumote doesn't work with PS4. I have an older TiVo virgin box, read elsewhere that it's rubbish for Netflix, but new box is great. I've signed up for free trial, just for new Black Mirror really, do don't really want to spend more money the input is useful, means I'll try ps4 first, rather than faff with other options and get annoyed, thanks
-
ta, will start with that
-
wasn't really sure which forum to put this in, feel free to move it mods! I may try Netflix for a month (so we can watch/play the new Black Mirror), and was wondering how ppl access it before I experiment and the missus gets annoyed with me for not leaving it alone Attached to the TV I have the following netflix compatible devices (the TV itself, and blu ray player are too old for the netflix app) ps3 ps4 PC Virgin Tivo sadly blu tooth no longer works on ps3, so the blu mote remote won't work any more, and have to use a controller cabled ps4 - would have to use controller so a bit cumbersome PC - i could maybe set up the ps3 blumote with that, I've used that with vlc on the pc, not sure you can configure for netflix? I've also got wireless logitech keyboard with built in mousepad. virgin Tivo box - seems most sensible - can use the remote as a normal remote, but bbc iplayer I've found to be a bit hit and miss, I remember a couple of times 5 mins into a sit com giving up and using the ps3 iplayer app instead, or pc as it kept stuttering (I've understood what netflix and chill means right )

Keep an eye on freecycle or cash converters. My elderly neighbour still uses videos and grabs one whenever he sees one in Cash Converters as spares!
