  1. I had forgotten all about the BCS, I remember many many years ago I had an IT manager who joined and was very keen for us underlings to join, and from what I remember, we couldn't get a clear answer about why we should apart from "it looks good". I think that fact I haven't heard it mentioned in over 20 years, or heard of the others probably says quite a lot about their relevance. I guess if you pay to join and do go to the talks and presentations they may be interesting now and again, but I guess the relevance of that sort of thing has declined a lot.
  2. April 23rd 2025 season 2 starts
  3. no series 2 https://www.hollywoodreporter.com/tv/tv-news/the-acolyte-canceled-star-wars-1235978593/amp/ I really wanted to like it, but it was just so dull for the most part
  4. hopefully it's good, the previous Hulu series was a massive disappointment
  5. I've been waking up with a bit of a sore back recently, and was wondering if it's the mattress, it's a Mammoth one, and found paperwork, had it about 10years which is time the experts say you should replace a mattress, just seems "funny" like a tv that dies 366 days after you bought it quite tempted to buy one again, got it in Furniture Village, similar to memory foam and spring combo, but less likely to make you too hot during the night. we got the mammoth pillows as well, they're still fine, maybe a bit squishyer now, but no neck aches
  6. Cool https://shop.royalmail.com/special-stamp-issues/warhammer?iid=SC0623_WHM_HP_01 my mum used to subscribe to get the new first day covers, but she stopped a few years ago, before they did the Star Wars ones
  7. My neighbour was "lucky" with his bad luck. I got home the other day, to see him talking to Amazon driver, holding a box, and driver is on mobile. the driver is on the phone to Amazon, as when he rang the doorbell, my neighbour answered, but said the box is too light, should have a laptop in it. so he opened box in front of driver, no laptop, so the driver phoned amazon. I heard the driver say there was no signs of damage to box, and he doesn't know what is inside them haven't had chance to see neighbour yet to find out what happened. I saw on BBC that Amazon haven't been too helpful, until BBc contacted them about various cases. I guess Amazon are worried now about ppl taking the mick and trying to pull a fast one about wrong goods etc
  8. time to rewatch Rebels

    Dilbert

It's sad isn't it, I stopped following him and dilbert a few years ago, when some of his pro Trump rants got a bit much
  13. I'd suggest keeping eye on hotukdeals, especially for the Xiaomi deals, I got a good deal on a Redmi Note Pro 10 not long ago, well within your budget
  14. yeh, at home one of my kids broke the cursor key on her laptop, ebay had them, but that make model of dell laptops had 3 different possibilities, all looked more or less the same, I got the wrong one, so they're using a usb keyboard now
  15. cool, a day "off" to catch up on September
  16. When I had it a few years ago, dr gave me a weeks worth of anti inflammatory, and that was enough, perhaps mine was more I had done something specific to it/overdone it one day, rather than a gradual thing. I said I'd taken ibroprofen which hadn't helped, and she said, quite often the over the counter drugs aren't good enough for this sort of thing, as by the time you start taking them it's too late, and you need to keep taking them for a few days regularly, rather than when you remember/when it starts to hurt. I've tried a few different trackballs and mice, but always end up going back to a normal mouse. I also tried using left hand, which was ok for some tasks, and ok for a "rest", but couldn't keep doing it. I did ask an ex colleague at one place to keep an eye on my posture etc, I said there's no point doing a desk assessment right now, as I'll sit in perfect text book position with everything where it "should" be. After a few days he suggested making sure i use a mouse mat, with the mat closer towards me, so i don't rest my elbow on the desk and lean forward as much as i was doing
  17. thanks, hope that's not all the best bits. remember seeing the 3rd one at the cinema, I still remember it being one of the best uses of 3d at the cinema
  18. either that or drum up business for their own mastercard where you get a £40 gift card, I'd imagine they had a lot of new applications yesterday even thought it's not until the new year. no, and not seen that mentioned elsewhere
  19. i remember years ago some shops, maybe Aria used to offer a pixel check for a certain amount, as there was some rule on whether a dead pixel was "ok" or not, i.e. if it was near the edge of the screen, that was acceptable, in the middle that would be elligable for replacement. if you paid for the service you knew you'd get one no dead pixels. I remember a colleague getting very irate talking to dead as his fancy new dell monitor had one, and the call centre person basically said " you can return it at your cost for a replacement if you're not satisfied, the replacement may not have any dead pixels, or could have one slightly more toward the inside of the screen, but still acceptable" so he kept it. is it still an issue? Can't remember last time I saw a dead pixel on a screen? that above does seem like a bit of a gullibility tax, but i guess it depends if it's refurb? but then why not put the price up on the refurbs in excellent condition, rather than suggesting ppl gamble Very disappointing of the shop, as anything you buy online should just work out the box.

    Kindle Kids

we've got a couple of Amazon Fire Kids, they love em, well, they did until they started using laptops when there was lockdown, and then found out about Roblox, so now don't use tablets much. so, turn it on, and it connects to the wifi, set that up ages ago. to get into the settings you have to enter a PIN, only known by me. I can't see a way to show the password for our wifi edit - it looks like the password is saved to my amazon account, but not in a way i can see it. i.e. should i purchase a new amazon device, when i log into my account, it will retrieve passwords etc
