That is the place where i added my URL. I'm not too sure how the meta tags work thou to be honest. I added the site's name and location to the meta tags like this: "eaton valley",cronehills,sandwell,"Eaton Valley Primary School" Would this be enough? I see that adding each word individually would not hurt though?

Hello, Just a quick one really. Perhaps a silly question too. I have been having a few complaints from parents that they can't find our website using google. I have looked at how to register the site with google and have gone through the addurl link. Now it says that i have to wait for their bot to crawl our site. I did this Friday and upon searching our School's name (Eaton Valley Primary School) over the weekend it doesn't come up, at least not in the first few pages i've looked at anyway. So have i forgotten something or does it take longer than this for their bot to get around to doing something? TIA

Thanks SimpleSi, These were the sort of things i was thinking about trying hence my first post about the article type. The reason i didn't start messing with the layouts is because it's working at the moment and i didn't want to break it I will look to try and build a test site a have a play around with that instead. I will post back and let you know how i manage to get it working the way i would like it. Also thanks for the tip on using your module for the menu on the left side. Might just do that as well PS. What did you think of the site overall? Reasonable or could it do with "something". I think it's a little pale but i quite like it like that though. Didn't want too much colour in it. I was going to look at changing the colour of the text to a deep red colour. and hyperlink in a gold-ish yellow colour (School colours).

OK. Let's see if i can clarify a bit more. When you add items to the school news section, you have the option to display on the front page. This obviously places the articles on the home page. What i would like to accomplish is to have the staff area which is private to have a similar front page but not publicly viewable. So for example, i have a staff news section which adds articles that only registered users can read and i would like the most recent items to be added to the staffroom's home page so Staff can see which items are the latest. Currently there is a news menu module to the left, but that means Staff having to look for items. My site is here: Welcome to Eaton Valley Primary School

I just purchase whichever seem to be the best value with the best specification. I purchased some kodak 6 megapixel cameras with free 2GB SD cards free for about £50 each. They had a 3x optical zoom and could record video in quicktime with sound (useful for imovie editing). I just tended to try and stick to standards, eg standard usb connections, sd cards etc. just made it easier to find stuff to fit them later. Just unfortunate that kodak's USB cameras didn't have standard USB connections. They just look very close to mini USB.

You can also script the creation of DHCP scope and the reservations. How i did it was to audit the clients and take down the mac addresses (therefore getting rid of another tedious task in the process) and using this data, i created a database of the clients and their associated addresses with corresponding IPs to reserve, IIRC. This was then used with a command line util (can't recall which one but i will see if i can find out) to create the DHCP scope and it's reservation table. You can also create the DNS table as well using the IPs and the hostnames IIRC. I'm sorry it's so vague it was over a year and a half ago. But i will see if i can get more details if you want.

Can you not just let the webserver index the folder?

If you are doing training tutorials or even any other documentation and you have access to a mac (it may also work as well on a windows machine), i usually run Windows in a virtual machine and use OS X screen grab tool as per the keyboard shortcut above. Hello, I was wondering if someone could give me a little direction. I have a private section for Staff only on my website and as such would like to keep any articles that are created for that area private. I have created a news feed that is only visible (as far as i know, need to check this) that only shows on the Staffroom section of the site. The thing i want to accomplish though is to have the news articles list on the homepage of the Staffroom under the message at the top, similar to the front page. If this makes sense. I can't seem to see how this is set up. The only thing i can see that may be the issue is article type, but i am not sure about this. Any help greatly appreciated. Many thanks in advance. What about this then? You upload a video you produce and accidentally delete your copy. You cannot then in theory download another copy from You Tube since it does not belong to you. Wasn't there a moan a while back about YouTube owning the content once it was uploaded to their site or was this retracted in the end? and if this still stands, where would you stand on the legality side? I've never uploaded anything to YouTube so not even sure if you can't download your own vids on login

If they could deliver next day on Saturday then great. I have already created a keynote pres with 3 animated backdrops. I just need this video to embed into the last slide. Dress rehearsal is Monday. How do you grab the video from Cbeebies to view locally? A teacher wants to use this song: Pirate Song in a performance she is doing on Tuesday. I said i could probably do it since Safari can download from the activity window from You Tube by double-clicking on the get_video.flv file. Unfortunately for me this trick doesn't seem to be working on the CBeebies website since i can not see the streaming video in the list. So how do others manage to get around this? It is probably against copyright infringement or something, but it only lasts about 1 minute or so. I can't even access it accross the network since i haven't got a network connection in the Hall as yet where the production is taking place, so this seems to be the only option at the moment. On leopard if a file is locked (not sure if just read only files or in use files) but holding down the alt key whilst emptying the trash will empty it even if the files are locked.

I think it also needs to be a certain size. You may need to check that as well.

garageband 09 might be able to do it. I haven't tried it though.

Hello, I have run into quite a big issue with regards to running Joomla on OS X 10.6, along with OS X mail, with server side mail rules. I set up the web service with the services options, mail and also ticked the allow server side mail rules. These options allow users to change their passwords via the browser and also to set up vacation rules. Unfortunately, with these options enabled Joomla's administrative backend no longer works. This is with Joomla 1.5.15 installed and running on OS X 10.6.2. I don't think there is much anyone can do about it to help. It seems to be linked with the mootools.js file needed by Joomla which is also used by OS X for their vacation rules etc. Webmail works fine though Just thought i would let people know. Thanks

Ralink corp. Is a link to the drivers page for os x Belkin : Wireless G USB Adapter Is the similar device that you need. I think the model number is the same, although it is now up to rev B i think And here's some information on the install (for leopard anyway)

For your wireless you can pick up a belkin USB dongle from Pc World for about £20. Using the ralink drivers you can get it working. I will see if i can fid the link to download them. I did it with my g3 and it works. Just have to manually start the app to connect to the wireless network. Other than that though, not too bad. Also i found any flash content to be pretty sluggish, but this is more to do with adobe's crap programming for osx. Mine ran 10.4 and did so reasonably well. If I'm not mistaken it is still being used now but not by me.

You can also chown just the user or group name. Chown -R username /folder to own. For groups, slightly different chown -R :group name /folder for group to chown.

You shouldn't need to do this now since 10.5. I think it's also mentioned in the Apple whitepaper.

I tend to use the connect to server option in finder and mount the shares that way. I then use WGM on that machine and then drag and drop them to the managed login item prefs. I also add these items to the dock as well on the folders side so when they log in they get the stacks method of browsing through the shares. It works really well if you have a set of folders, one for each year. I have a pupil share which mounts automatically and then using the stack users can navigate straight to their folder using the dock. Works quite well and show a no entry sign on the ones they cannot access.

Good evening, I have now finished building my new mail server based on OS X 10.6.1 Server. It is going to be accessed via IMAP and webmail. The users are AD users. I just need a bit of advice. I think i did it right but not too sure now. I have the server connected to our AD server using Directory Utility. The users are added to the the mail SACL list so they can use the OS X mail service. The server is hosting on a different network. Now, i have requested port 625 to be opened to our AD server's address to allow for the remote Directory Access. Is this all i need to open for this to work. I have opened ports 993 and 25 for mail services as well, but am unsure of the authentication for the AD users? If anyone can clarify this for me that wold be ace. Thanks, Mark.

Can you not just copy the working VMs onto the other machine? or are you saying that you did this and now they aren't working on this machine?
