  1. OK Cheers will do that then. Move images Rebuild Move images back. Thanks for the help.
  2. Thanks for the response. I did do a search of forums but could not find info. I was afraid that might be the answer. Is it possible to copy off the images and then rebuild the server and copy them back into the ris server images folder to be detected by the RIS again? We have a fair amount of images on the disk you see...
  3. Can any one tell me whether there is a free util that can extend the partition of a RIS server. When it was created the server had the system volume created too small and now the server is complaining of no disk space. The remaining space is already set aside to use for the images. If not is there any other way of doing this, i.e copying the images off to another server and deleting the extended second partition and then increasing the partition given to the system volume to expand to fill some of the now vacant partition. I don't build the servers so am unsure as to what approaches will work.
  4. Hello, Thanks for the reply. I haven't had a chance to work through the options that you posted as it is a home project there seems to never be a time to do it. I also need my brother to be available to configure his end. Our times when we are available seem to never coincide. Anyway thanks for the info and i will let you know how it goes. I will probably go with the VPN access using the router settings though.
  5. Don't know if you are still looking but i thought i would post this link up here anyway. Haven't had much time to check it out properly. Maybe what someone else is after though. actionscript.org
  6. I don't know if you have already done this. I assume that you would have done this straight away but in the preferences in iMovie go to the general tab and select 25 frames instead of the default 29.9. You should only need to do this once. I have not got an iSight camera (external anyway) but in my macbook pro it does not seem to make a difference. By the way i have also noticed that you cannot change the format once a project is already started. Even if you change the settings on a new project and then drag and drop the clips from an existing NTSC project it will convert the PAL to the NTSC also. If it is a captured source it will need to be recaptured, unless you export. Just some info anyway.
  7. Hello all, I am trying to get MRBS installed using IIS with AD authentication. I am having difficulty in getting the LDAP_Auth to bind and search the AD. if i remember (its about 5 months since i last looked at it) the error was that it could not bind to the AD I have tried alternative LDAP search scripts to test my default search bases and stuff but got to an error saying could not search your AD. I have used the default MRBS installation 1.2.3 with no cvs updates. I read on the MRBS board that there was a problem with the original LDAP_auth file. Is this true? The problem is i have not done any PHP before and this is my first project. I don't get the time to sit and learn programming as much as i would like.
  8. Hello all, This is one for the home project. I have a G5 mac at home connected to a USR8054 router. My brother has a mac mini running as a server (10.4) at his home behind a net gear rangmax router. Both are connected to blueyonder. How would i go about setting up a network connection to his house whereby allowing me to authenticate against his open directory? Would it simply be a case of setting up a VPN connection to his house and then opening the appropriate ports on his server to allow the authentication or would this pose a security risk? if the VPN is the way to go how secure is this connection ( i assume as secure as the shared secret). Thanks for any help.
  9. Ric_ That is exactly what i would like to see. Some examples of what admins have already configured and setup and the methods in which they went about it. Possible pitfalls to avoid as problems arose from issues undocumented (how often does this happen?) , and things like that. I am not the greatest technician in the world as i am more or less a newb, but would like to get better and more experienced, learning from other peoples experiences as much as possible.
  10. Sounds good slartibartfast. How difficult was IAS to set up initially? I am not in control of the DCs so it would be left to someone else to do. I would like the option of knowing how to do both IAS and RADIUS authentication and have some information on problems some people have had with each so i can then go down the path with least resistance, hence the questions.
  11. CrhisH - Thanks for the heads up and sorry to re-post for old info. Geoff - cheers for that info too. I have never really used Linux, but i will look into it as i have been wanting to get into Linux for a while.
  12. Has anyone implemented a RADIUS server and / or IAS to authenticate a wireless network? If so how easy is it to implement and run. Are there any security issues that need to be addressed beforehand to allow smooth running? Would a linux RADIUS be best or are the switch variety better? What about IAS on Server 2003? Just a few questions to assist me in whether to set one up instead of standard encryption. If anymore info available please feel free to post. The more the better.
  13. Don't know if you all have checked but the 1.2.2 update is ready now to be installed. Resolves the issue with the trailers server not responding. If you have a bluetooth keyboard then its excellent and if not i read that the griffin airclick(?) remote works well.
  14. I have used it and seems pretty good for me. I don't use IE anyway. I have found that ghost cannot backup when running on MacBook Pro. Gives an error, can't remember what the error was now though, but it was obviously to do with the Boot camp Partition. I know someone who has triple-booted with Vista though. Now that looks good and runs OK on a MacBook Pro.
  15. Mac the ripper is what you need then toast it.
  16. The problem is that all the Aps that are on the same switch are not failing. I have one on one switch on it s own failing and one failing on a switch shared with around three others that do not. I also have one that has been solid since implementation on a switch that is also shared by one that has never been working properly. (both of these aren't in the same vicinity. I have also removed WEP encryption entirely and monitored the WAPs. The two that are the biggest issue didn't even last 24 hours.
  17. Indeed!! Although the survey was only done last October (i've been trying to get my head around it for this long until i decided it can't be anything i'm doing wrong surely?) the equipment recommended to us was the DWL-2000+, which to me is odd after browsing their site, its not even in the list under the educational section and is now discontinued... We can only wait and see. Thanks for your inputs anyway.
  18. Problem solved then. I was just hoping for a resolution that wouldn't leave me with 18 bricks with poles sticking out of them. I have a D-Link consultant coming back in (he came out to do the site survey) and he will be trying to find a solution, I hope. I will post what he says. He's not in until June though...
  19. Hello all, Thanks for the replies. Its good to know other people have had the same problems. No one has been able to pin point the problem though? We have 18 in total implemented so it is going to be a problem replacing them all (cost-wise) and theres more of them in the cupboard but these arent opened yet.
  20. It's great to hear someone else say that they are a bit flakey. I thought i was doing something wrong. I also forgot to mention that i have also upgraded the firmware to the latest version. 2.12 and have set the IPs to Static and out of the DHCP scope range. So there are no ip conflicts. The cards i use top connect to them are also D-link G650+ with which i disabled the Util as it kept starting and stopping, and sometimes not even finding its own card installed. Couldn't see any firmware updates for these. I also use some Sweex cards (by the way both types are 11g) and these seem to be solid. Don't recall any problems with these aprt from two not working at all. and finally PDAs and some Acer laptops both using 11b. Thats more or less all the wireless stuff we use.
  21. Hello Geoff, I have outlined the problems below. The problem that we are having is the following. The access points have been implemented and are powering through POE and the locations are around two per corridor in the West Building and 2 on the first corridor providing coverage for the lower floors and to some extent the upper floors. They are situated above the suspended ceiling. The issues we are seeing are the access points suddenly become unavailable to the clients. The WAPs are configured to different SSIDs to differentiate which WAPs can be seen on each floor. The WAPs are also set to different channels. They are not necessarily the three that are better used for the WAPs as we have a different collaborated school that have implemented their own WAPs and have used CH7. To avoid any interference I have used alternative channels. The Encryption at the moment is set to WEP but only until I can stop the WAPs crashing. The logs have also been set up but once the WAP is power-cycled the logs are lost. Syslog is set up but doesn’t really tell me much about whats going on. I have also tried to configure SNMP but have yet been of any use until configured properly (which I am unsure of how to do). I have used NetStumbler to determine any noise that can be seen but it registers as having no noise. I have pulled back the signal strength to avoid any issues with interference from other WAPs in the surrounding area. The WAPs do not respond to pinging or client connection attempts or even connection to the Web manager, and need to be power-cycled to get back online. This more or less covers whats been going on. I never thought about the overheating issue. I will check this out.
  22. Hello all, I am currently setting up wireless access across the entire school so staff can use the connections from their rooms. I have however run into many problems. The APs all sem to be set up correctly. But instead of going through what I've done again i will post the link to a previous forum i used earlier. wifi planet Any help would be great.
