When it does, go back to RM and tell them their font deployment code stinks (unless it's your code, in which case, erm, it just needs some tweaking )

What is the actual status reported by those non-XP machines when you run a status report for that update? Some of the summary views combine Installed & Not Applicable into the same column.

Even if you approve a server update to a workstation machine, the workstation itself will recognise it's not applicable and won't install it. If it actually is installing them anyway, something is very seriously wrong.

If you're ring-fencing the accounts so they can't communicate outside the domain then the risks are not really any different to what you have already, assuming your Frogmail is accesible at home. If it isn't, then staff need to consider that the pupils will have access to their school email at home. However, to be honest, we see much more misuse during school hours than outside.

Actually it gets worse. Exchange OWA does not work properly in IE11 except with Exchange 2013 CU2, unless you use compatibility mode.

Pretty sure Openreach mandate the use of their modem; AFAIK they won't support the use of anything else. The first wave ones did get a bit toasty but many of them fell over as a result and ours was replaced about 9 months in with a newer batch that runs fairly cool.

Have always left it on domain-wide except on our MIS server, as the MIS software requires it to be off. Other than that I have never seen a single issue.

When we got FTTC from Zen we took the recommended router from them, a Draytek Vigor 2920. It works fine with the Zen connection, though it has terrible problems with port forwarding from our failover connection on the rare occasion that the Zen connection goes down. In the long term I want to replace it with something a bit higher-end, but I don't have the budget for it this year.

The linked article is about the consumer version of SkyDrive, which is completely different to SkyDrive Pro. Both the backend and the clients work completely differently.

I tend to use one Apple ID per 'set' of iPads, so all the ones in a single trolley are on the same ID. Currently using Meraki MDM to configure them, wich is free, but has its limits.

I have 20 iPads on the same ID. I think the limit is considerably higher.

The three key domains I had to set for no authentication for Office 2013 on Smoothwall were: office.microsoft.com sls.microsoft.com odc.officeapps.live.com The others in the list above were already whitelisted for other reasons, but aren't current on the noauth list. We do use Kerberos however, which solves a lot of auth problems with 2013 compared to NTLM auth.

It's been a while since I sequenced Chrome, but when I did it under App-V 4.6 I just ignored the 'requirement' to put it on the Q drive. Set the monitoring directory to C:\Program Files\Google Chrome or whatever the default is, and it will probably work fine. In the long term, consider migrating to App-V 5, in which the Q drive requirement has been completely removed.

Dell should be able to supply it, but it may be eye-wateringly expensive for what it is. You could also give Hardwarespares | Dell parts | Dell spare parts a try.

I've seen this questions asked several times before, and I've never seen anyone manage it. I'd love to be proved wrong, but I'm pretty sure this can't be done with Exchange.

A Google search for that error reveals a few threads going back several versions of Java, and they all look like they are to do with upgrades. If you are also seeing spurious errors about the previous version not being installed properly, I would suggest something is Not Quite Right™ with the previous Java install and that is tripping up the installer. Have you tried manually removing the previous version first and seeing if the error still appears?

May I ask what your reasoning is? In 4 years I have never shut down guest VMs before restarting a Hyper-V host. However, I've been applying updates monthly rather than doing that many in one go. Is the number of updates factoring into your recommendation?

For what it's worth, I also have REMOVEEXISTING=1 set in my transform. I don't set the JU property as setting JAVAUPDATE=0 seems to take care of it. However, I install via WSUS/Local Update Publisher, not GPO, so it may be something (such as a race condition) specific to GPO deployment.

At least Dell have 'fessed up to it. If this happened to Apple, they'd tell us we were sniffing the laptops in the wrong way.

When I did the same I exported from the old server first and then imported into the new server running 2012, as suggested. So long as you have the virtual networks set up the same, you should be able to start them up without having to change anything as soon as they are imported. There were no gotchas in my case. As I recall, the only thing you will need to do after the import is upgrade the Hyper-V guest components on each virtual server.
