Our LA Wirral has just signed up to this company and we are as a school going to be one of the first 10 schools to use it. But we have been having problems getting some tech info from LA so we thought we would ask here if anyone can help then please do as we will be able to put any other questions that arise from your answer to Uni when we meet in a few weeks. 1) How much space do pupils and staff get for there own area ie for eportfolios. 2) how much space is there per department/faculity for puting worksheets documents and resources. 3) Can users access there school work area throu Uni Ie if thay are working at home and forgot to drop work in to there uni area can this been done or will thay have to use a third party program link easylink. 4) What type of resources can you NOT use on uni system 5) What features/goodies is there that the school can use 6) Does anyone have any instructions sheets, informations sheets that we cna have that will help us explain it to our staff. I do not want to buy software to do the job. As this will only be a one off. YEs i have access mysql and php so if you have an app that will do the job great Stuart

I have been asked to look at writing some webpages that ask the pupils some questions and the answers are recored in a database that is easy but what we want is pupils not to be able to answer the questions more than once. I need the asp page to get there username from network and put that into database and then if thay try again it will check username against database and see if that have answered the questions before. Any one help or point me towards a site that has asp code that will do what i want Thanks Stuart

Hi all, We are playing around with th asus minpc with Linux and we are a CC3 site with Easylink to remote access peoples work. we know that we cannot access pupils work via easylink with linux cos it web folders and firefox does not work. What other ways can we try to access pupils work on the mini pc. we still want authentication. We are are after a direct replacment for easylink. is there anthing in asp etc Thanks Stuart

Tried that one but As i do not know php this does not have any input options on the page so that the staff can enter figures in and it auto changes. So if anyone can help with the php editing of this one to allow user input it would be great

I have been asked to find an Dynamic/live animated Thermometer for our fund raising event in a couple of weeks. We are going to Bike ride and row and jog from school all the wat to morroco in a day. Okay we are not leaving the school hall but it will been just as hard. I need a themometer that i can set up so that as money is handed in and counted we can enter the current running total and then the themometer will refect this by raising the red centre line. I have found a few online but thay do not do what i need. Hi all, We have install Moodle onto our network and done all the TEch bit needed to get it to work, what we need know are course content that we can show staff/Managment. As we are not teachers I was hoping that some of you guys out there might have some courses that we can use to try and launach our moodle to to Staff and get there juices following and hopefully get them to design courses for there subjects. Any courses we might get we will remove if you request us to do after we have demoed to staff. Subjects we would like would be ICT- any ECDL Courses, We all ready have the Dida courses Any uptodate General ICT Courses that covers general ICT in all KS3 RE - This subject is going to be our Launch Subject as we are a Humanties Specialist College we thought this would be a good Subject to use and there have provide some powerpoints to go on VLE We will take any other subject but the above 2 are our main ones we are working with. I have just install a fedora Linux Box and that has installed all okay And it can access the internet and has a fixed ip set with a hostname of linux.cc3-hilbre What I want to know is the following I want to ad this computer to my windows AD/network. At the moment i can ping it ip address and it response but that is it I cannot VNC to it even thou i have setup the remote desktop settings My workstation say it cannot find linux box. What i want to do with the linux box is to setup it up as a spam filtering and AV system for our email. Can someone please tell me step by step what i need to do to add the linux box to win2003 network/ad I will tacke spam/AV after i got the above to work Reason i need to remote access box is it will be stored away in a cupboard and will not have a monitor etc connect so access to it will be very limited.

Hi all, We have Imail ver 7.07 installed on our win2003 server and it works great but have stared to get some issues with spam so what i want to know is what are my options. I do know that i can get free spam filtering on a linux box What do i need hardware software to setup such a box also the box might be asked to provide other services in the future ie web hosting etc. Is there a free option that would run on win2003 server??? We cannot upgrade to lastest version of imail as it cost to much. Thanks Stuart

:x To all you access Gurus I have been asked to look at setting up and access database to do the following To keep a record of pupils and 9 tasks the pupils have to do and also the total amount of time it took a pupil to do this task They have a total of 25 Hours to do all tasks but this is spread out over the year. What I need is someone to tell me the best table layout to do this The pupil record has to have the following First Name Surname Form Total Hours taken for all 9 Objectives A description of what the pupil did to achive each Objectives record if that task is complete Also Date Task was Complete I have done a test database with just one table in it and inside that table had all of the above but apart from name, form and total hours I repeated the rest nine times. This just does not seem right What I want is to pull up the pupil name and then select Task say from a Drop down box this would then insert a new field if it did not allready exist in pupil recored and then you can fill in the task details of course if the field/s all ready existed then to open that up to allow you to update this It would then need to update the total Hours field in the pupil record with the hours it took to do that task/objective.
