Not used one of them for years. I've still got an IDE caddy for hard drives for when the odd job comes in but used it once in the last 10 years I think.

Not sure where to put this so going here as its O365. Android (Galaxy S6) using native mail app to connect to my O365, is there a way to set all sub folders to take defaults i.e. sync when mail is pushed? I've had to go into each one and set this from manual to defaults. I have rules that move mail and something over the weekend has reset this. Can this be set en mass? Hope this makes sense.

Wireless phone (not broadband) extender needed
MatthewL replied to elsiegee40's topic in General Chat
Can you not run a telephone extension to this location? They can be picked up from your local £ shop. -
If it was me I wouldn't waste the money on a turnstyle, just a door and say a paxton reader plus a card to each kid/staff.

Can you port your (home) landline number to a VoIP service?
MatthewL replied to Trapper's topic in General Chat

Along the Humber has been interesting out on the road today, I live on the coast and its picked up this afternoon quite a bit. Recycling boxes, had them down the street the other morning, I refuse to put mine out when its windy they end up going down the street, actually got a complaint in about this as I want a wheelie bin for my plastics rather then a pidly box!

I was in the NHS when I found this site and that is where it all started. NHS jobs, check out local trust website but all should be on NHS Jobs - Candidate Homepage, once you've applied for a job on there you will never look back as it saves all the info for future use too

Does your firewall have an outbound rule for DNS lookups to said forwarder?

Do you have more than one DC? I would be checking replication on them as a first start.

MatthewL replied to chrisjako's topic in Internet Related/Filtering/Firewall
Not used them personally but I do come across quite a few places using them and not heard anything bad. -

Nokia 3310, 'the most reliable phone ever made', to be re-launched
MatthewL replied to elsiegee40's topic in IT News
I got rid of mine years ago, I'd be tempted to go back to one for the battery life. The only thing that used to annoy me was no sync for contacts until the later phones and I used the Nokia manager tool to sync with Outlook. Now all mine are in my O365 they sync everywhere. I've actually got a Nokia £10 thing from Tesco with a spare SIM in I keep in my bag for emergencies as the battery lasts forever. -
I've kept the useful bits i.e. PSU's and other bits like that have dwindled as I don't tend to get my hands on much like this now but these bits I've tried selling and I've looked on eBay, for what I would make, by the time I've packaged and posted it what profit I'd make its minimal and really not worth the hassle selling I don't think. It's old tech and I think I'm just keeping it for the sake of it but its been sat there long enough now so no use. Think I will just dispose of it out the way. Might try my luck once more, will grab a list together when I get 5 minutes.

I've got a few boxes of things like Belkin AP's and USB print servers plus various HP jet direct bits, parallel and USB. I've got expansion cards to fit in some HP printers i.e. LAN and Wireless, plus loads of random cables. I've had a bit of a sort out but can't see any reason to keep the things like AP's and print servers. Worth keeping hold of this old stuff or just get rid? By the way this is just at home!! How long can old tech be kept before its not worth keeping anymore? I keep hold of the odd rare cable and connector type thing as they do come in useful but stuff I've not touched in over 5 years, just bin it?

Logging into Office 2016 with an Office 365 School Account?
MatthewL replied to DigiBen's topic in Office Software
Does you firewall allow your computers to communicate to be able to sign into Office 365? -
Have you set your virtual queues to be able to forward to the relevant printer and also for the relevant device to pick up from the right queues? Normally when I do it, I use the same drivers, just default one to mono and one to colour.

Takes 2 minutes to log a ticket, you can have a premade template so all you do is add the user details to it and then you have a record. Also proves certain things by having a record, no matter how small everything should be logged.

Has anyone had any issues with connecting to shared printers in Windows 10? I've got one that keeps searching Windows update for drivers even thought the right ones are on the print server. If I copy the driver manually onto the PC and then run \\server\printer it works. I've come across this before but cannot think what I did to fix it. Thoughts please. Thanks
