SchoolCloud /Roombooking have an outage in case this helps anyone
MACIT replied to robintech's topic in Cloud Services
That would involve using Sims, and to be honest I would rather jump into pit of angry snakes with just my swimming trunks on. -
SchoolCloud /Roombooking have an outage in case this helps anyone

Yep down again, Dont know about everyone else but I want some money back we are now in our 6th working day of disruption. I had a feeling this would happen when is was sold, The guys that created it must be wetting themselves with laughter as they drive around in their Aston Martins having sold a such fantastic and reliable system. Such a shame to see all that goodwill destroyed by well, I'm just going to come and out say it "Incompetence" Does anyone know of another system? because this is ridiculous, god help us when parents evenings comes round. -

Just wanted to say a big Thank You to David for finally sorting this out for me via direct email. The experience getting to this point has not been a pleasant one as David has confirmed that the reason the key was not working was the encoded institution number was incorrect in the file. Something I had been shouting about and trying desperately for distribution at Sims to understand from day one but I could not get anyone to listen to me or actually read my emails. Oh well we got there in the end and I am very grateful to David for sorting this mess out I can now go back to my day job.

David, Not wishing to speak out of turn here but I have been dealing with this issue for the last 3 weeks and have been bashed around from support department to distributions back and forth over that time. I appreciate you might be new to this issue but stating "the most common cause of this error is that you are inadvertently using last years license" is insulting I currently have a folder with about 6 versions of the licence in it! I'm not exactly new to this process of applying a licence file to licence some software. Can I have a suggestion that is a little more constructive than one that translates to "you don't know what your doing" I am normally a very patient person who is not easily pushed to this point, my apologies if I sound frustrated its because I am! I also don't like venting in public forums but havening exhausted other avenues I have appear to have no choice.

Thank you, will be interesting to see what the solution is.

We have had 6! licence files sent to us over the last week, all of which will not work. We have considered and ruled out the following: 1) 64bit/32 Bit compatibility issue 2) File being corrupted by our mail filter (had file sent to us another way) 3) Have used several different workstations (including the server itself) 4) Have put the licence file in various different locations including locally on the machine 5) Have tried importing via registration group rather than admission number 6) Have tried shouting at people at capita 7) Have tried being nice to people at capita 8) Have tried lighting magic candle Out of ideas!

Interesting that you are also in Worcestershire!!! I'm at my wits ends with this! Are we all on the the same exe version of Pulsar? (7.182.49.1)
-
Interesting will see if i can get them to send it to us another way
-
As a matter of interest did they send you file as a zip or a plane li2 file?
-
Just a shout out, have any other schools been experiencing issues with the batch import of student photos this year? Specifically the application of the licence file?

MACIT replied to Olliesaurus's topic in MIS Systems
Just to add my own experience to this, we also have been experiencing this decent into slowness even just logging into sims take twice as long as in used to. even though the server is eating up CPU's and Memory. -
Web Based School Uniform, Inventory Management Software
MACIT posted a topic in How do you do....it?
We are currently looking at providing a webshop for the purchase of school uniform + maybe other items later on and we need a system that will also do the inventory management, invoicing, stock value etc. Does anyone have any recommendations for this? -

Where can i find this mystical Reindex patch as think it would help with our 9GB database and very slow access to marksheets.
-
Personally would NOT touch SLG with 10 foot barge pole as very unfriendly to look at. I looked at it several times and tried to convince myself and normally favour keeping everything under sims "roof" but in this case Capita got it wrong. Personally I favour a Moodle integrated solution (Webanywhere) has brought our VLE onto the next level and is very friendly for parents and students themselves to look at.

Is it just me or is accessing large Sims Marksheets REALLY s.....l....o....w since the last upgrade and the course manager changes that were applied? Its taking upto a minute sometime to view a departmental marksheet. Anyone elese having issues? Regards
-
Well I've learnt something new today! To be honest though considering the massive amount of highly confidential data Sims holds i believe this to be wholly indadequate and Capita should sort it out and quick!
-
We have this morning noticed (although i suspect this has been the case for while) that all sims passwords are no longer case sensitive!! Is anyone else aware of this I asume its not local to us We are on 7.144 Regards Neil
