What are the implications as far as a member of staff taking a backup off-site? a tape in the boot of my car or portable hard drive, what happens if it gets stolen, data protection etc?

I know this has been mentioned before but, has anyone any experience of Selecta Mark on aluminium surfaces? Ive just used it on our power macs and although the stickers are good, the chemical etching doesnt seem to be that effective? maybe its just the colour doesnt transfer to the aluminium as well as a plastic surface?

We also have 'god-like' access to CMIS, we have a few web based things that need student data regularly, like SAM learning, school report writer, etc. Its not straight forward but usually once youve found one way of doing it its easily adapted to find other data for different sources.

I didnt go for linux in the end, i used http://www.nu2.nu/bbie/ barts boot image extractor, to extract the boot sector to a bin file! voila, convert bin file! Im happy thanks

any how do i get knoppix to load to ram instead of from the cd? i could use virtual PC to run the knoppix dist?

OK i have a network boot CD which creates a random computer name and automatically detects network card and has a number of network card drivers installed the most common where i work. Trouble is my computer is kind of out of action after the air conditioning leaked all over it!! The source files are burnt to the boot sector of the CD so cannot be see/copied. IS there any way i can view the boot sector of a cd and extract/copy the source so i can edit it and create more cds??

Our PE department have a number of electronic dance mats which all need to be linked to a laptop via a usb hub. They have around 30 mats so we need a usb hub with 30 ports. We dont seem to be able to find a hub with 30 ports, firstly does anyone know if a 30 port hub is possible/available. Secondly could we buy say 4 8 port hubs and piggy back them to add support for more connections?

I really like this product, we tried it for about 2 months. Its basically a badword logger, evertime a word entered into the "bad" word bank is detected either typed or displayed on screen, a screenshot is taken complete with username time and date. It really worked quite well for us. Obviously it doesnt detect any images or anything "non-text" but how many dodgy sites do you know without the dodgy words to go with it. We didint purchase it though, far too expensive!

We have had our letterhead designed for use and set back as a pdf file. Unfortunatly the school missed out one of the logos on the footer, trying to import the jpeg into adobe profesisonal i cant ize it or alter it in anyway, it just seems to stay a standard size? Can anyone give me any tips on importing a jpeg into an exciting pdf file and editing it? Dan

We make our version available from home hosted on our own web server. It uses a two week timetable. I like this version because it only shows what is available. Instead of having to enter all the days which are not available as classes are timetabled to the room anyway, i only have to enter the periods when the rooms are free, thus reducing the number of entries i have to make. The database which is held on a sahre lets admin/head of ICT see who is using rooms when and where, what equipment is used regualrly and also which teachers use the free rooms throughout the year!

Alot of people ask on here for room booking software etc... We had an email through from a company offering us one for £230 which was only computer based without a web front end. I looked all over the net a few months back and found the following for free, access database with clear forms and with a complete asp front end for booking. Its all pretty straight forward.
