I have bt broadband running from a adsl modem which connects to my PC via usb. I want to go wireless but just wonder what is the best route. Obviously a wireless router but how would this be set up? phoneline to router, and how do i set up the router to auto dial the number for bt? Noob alert never done this b4?

do the students you have selected appear in more than one of the same subject teaching groups? as in english set and and english set 2, results entred in set 2 but dont appear in set 1? it would also depend on the setup of your template? you say you can edit some but not others, and your def double clicing on the square in the table? where do you see the edit and delete buttons? i dont see those?

are you doing results entry by template?

Proxy is not hosted here, its through an Imimic serve running redhat 6. Quick tabs is a nice feature, i just find that the toolbar buttons are not quite in the right place for my likeing. I heard there was a classic tollbar view for IE7 but cant seem to find it, there no option to enable it.

I love Firefox, but also like the new IE7. Its mostly because of the tabbbed browsing, through our proxy using firefox some pages are restricted for some reason so ive reverted back to using IE7 in school. But i loved the little red cross in firefox which closed which ever tab i was on, on IE7 it next to the current tab im on? Does anyone know of a way or creating a batch file to close a single tab in IE7, as through group policy i can add in a new toolbar button and attache the batc script? Dan

apparently feedback i have got, from a number of schools/network managers, is it pretty RUBBISH!

ours is one of the first 10 or so, 1st phase school, and i know no more than a school 5/6 years away, All i know is its been delayed delayed, put off and delayed. Our hedteacher wants to keep IT support, also wants to keep caretakers etc, so will not agree to contracting out support. Bu theres always a carrot dnagling on the end of that stick which could change here mind, perhaps IT support gets to stay in house we just dont know?

no bios screen, no post splash screen, didnt try to boot off CD didnt have everything with me at the time, im thinking fingers crossed its hard drive becasue there is a backup!!

Ive just visited a member of staff's house to fix a PC, its an old P3 with windows 98, it wont boot up. He moved it from one room to another and now wont boot up. Screen turns off when connected to PC working on another PC, so monitor o.k! CD-ROM will not eject when IDE cable is connected to mother board but when IDE disconnected will light up and eject as normal. Have disconected everthing apart from hard drive inside, and still no boot so not anything to do with floppy or CD-ROM. Leaves motherboard and Hard drive. Didnt have any spares at the time, but hard drive and power light stay on together (static) so i suspect it maybe the hard drive which is the problem rather than the motherboard, as it still supplys power everywhere else. Any ideas things to try thursday evening lol? Cheers!

Is there a way of extracting data from CMIS Facility automatically at set periods, for instance run a report and extract its contents to a csv file. A way to reference the databse and pull out data perhaps for a learning platform? Dan

Yes it was Novus, apparently one of there technical staff will be at the BETT stand with Edugeek, plus there own stand with HP. All well and good, but this does not justify them contacting me at work on the school telephone number.

Not particularly happy this morning to receive a phone call from a citrix supplier, based purely on a post i made on edugeek. Got my detials from edugeek and decided to give me a call incase i wanted to buy any equipment. No thanks mate, dont call again.

Citrix, citrix presentation server are all foreign to me, never experienced them, havent used it, never seen it installled our being installed. I was just wondering, as the netwrok manger here is about to think baout setting it up here, id get a head start and start looking at it. Does anyone know of any websites that run through some of the basics and more advanced stuff with citrix? Any help appreciated!

IMAC is my prefrence, mini mac is great but nothing to rave about, but obviously you save on space but you have to purchase a screen aswel?

I have to do a presentation in a few weeks time on Networking in Schools, its for student teachers on the SCITT programme. I havent had any detaisl of what exactly i should mention but would be greatful if anyone out there had done this kind of thing before, or could think of any bullet points to base my presentation on. I presume it will have to higlight the use/benefits of using a network within a school etc... HElp!

Check regional setting, US Keyboard layout removed, set English as default. Language toolbar by the clock make sure its set to English, Also check in application, for instance Word, tools, language, set to english UK, also theres a box set to detect automatically. To be honest you've pro done all this, in that case wipe the profile! Was your original install US or UK? of your operating system?
