Same here. Upgrading to 2022 were possible, but need to migrate our print server due to Papercut db corruption after an upgrade, but it wasn't caught until 3 months later. My Server 2012R2 started to BSoD repeatedly during boot, so did a restore from backup and now want to upgrade OS, as well. Server 2022 was released in August. We have it stable several servers including 1 DC.

Correct. Never use the v4 drivers. They're built into Windows and have very basic functionality. You should always get the v3 driver from the manufacturer.

We install 2019 and use AdamJ's WAM script. No issues for 3 years. We did have issues before that. As for the printer updates, then sensible workaround is to use a registry key to disable the need for an Administrator and then set a few other settings. With WSUS, you could at least block them. Without it, you just take what Windows gives you and you're stuck installing them manually. If you think Google Workspace doesn't have it's own issues, not sure what to tell you.

What did you do to default profile and how? I asked the company that provides our solution and then suggesting using GPO and and XML file to set the Start Menu options. I'm looking into it, but not sure yet, if that is how to handle it. They said default profile is getting harder and harder to work with. So just tried to decide which way to hear. I'm "fairly" familiar with imaging and application packages. We use ZENworks, ENGL (imaging add-on), and ZENworks for desktop management/applications. I have use SCCM, but on a limited basis, and WDS, even more limited, but understand the logic behind it and task sequences. Just need to translate that into a ZENworks environment.

@Tefters Can you give me more info on your solution. We use a third-party tool to prep our images, but hoping that I can use your solution with ours to make this happen.

Followup: I used the previous post and add /S in between the command and path. For version 7: wmic product where "name like '%%examview%%' AND Version ='7%%'" call uninstall /nointeractive For version 8: wmic product where "name like '%%examview%%' AND Version ='8%%'" call uninstall /nointeractive

I cannot find a way to uninstall versions 6.2 and earlier from command-line. I can silently remove any newer version using the MSI uninstall string. It shows in Add/Remove, but not the registry or using a WMI query. For the uninstall string that it DOES show in the registry, it's "C:\Windows\unvise32.exe C:\ExamView\uninst5.log" I'm at a loss what to do. I found out how to silently install the new version, but would like to automate the uninstall as well.

Thanks. I found that info a little later. I did several steps and not sure which worked. I set four things in GPO in that section, and I also changed the credentials for DHCP. They started populating last night and cleared themselves out (I only have an 8 lease time for DHCP right now, also, but upping that to 3 days. I was initially afraid to touch the credentials as I'm new to the position here and new to AD also, coming from a Novell/eDir background and DHCP/DNS on Linux. Thanks for the tip.

On a side note for Acronis, they have a Universal Restore which will put in drivers you specify, or just remove the drivers and once the OS is up and running install the drivers afterwards. I don't image across processors, but this has worked on every different Intel chip I've tried. There are admittedly better ways, but it's quick and easy. It will also change the SID.

I would get at least 2GB of RAM or whatever you're budget will allow. I would actually drop processor a little before going with just 1GB of RAM. Depending on what you want to do, you can get faster Dual-Cores for cheaper than the Quads. Quads are really better for video/audio processing and editing and things of that nature. I know Windows 7 has better memory management than Vista, but I'd still go with 2GB minimum.

We've been looking at something similar, not sure exactly which ReadyNAS model, but we are also looking at an Iomega product. Iomega StorCenter ix4-200d NAS Server - NAS server and other Workgroup NAS Servers at CDWG.com It is apparently VMWare certified, although I'm sure the other will handle it. It's a bit cheaper than the ReadyNAS we were looking at.

Most of our kids called every word processor "Word", so there's no telling. They usually are using Works, but no presentation software in Works that I know of. Good luck.

What is the actual extension of the file? Maybe it got associated with it somehow, so it's showing the wrong icon. I'm not at all familiar with Macs so I can't say on that.

Do you have the Compatibility Pack for 2007? You could try OpenOffice.

For a management tool that is FREE, you might check out BlueBear > Kodiak. It's still in development I think. I haven't used but saw it on an episode of Hak5. Not sure how it matches features with vSphere, but maybe worth a shot when released.

We use MAC address along with hostname of each machine. We don't use the hostname with the domain so not sure if that matters. As for accessing you need to install the master on every computer you want to see clients from. We use the same key for all installs. If you need another master, copy the keys folder from another master and have it install normally with the master selected. Stop the italc service, and copy/paste replacing the existing files before the services starts back up. You don't have firewall on your clients or master?

It's still being developed, but not sure how much the roadmap has changed. Saw a new version come up on discussion list, but only mainly translation fixes, nothing else to write home about.

Recommending something isn't the same as saying you HAVE to use it. It's just an option and he might not have known about it. I like it because you don't have to edit any files. Just install like you would a fresh install of Joomla. No databases to worry about either. All in one package. In this case, might not need it. In another, you might.

I use JoomlaPack when moving Joomla installs. It basically ZIP's your install into a file you download and upload to new site, then run through install just like it's new. Take care of the config for you. Welcome to JoomlaPack Maybe a few files didn't get transferred the first time you copied. I used to have a problem with SmartFTP dropping files every time I FTP'd a lot of information. Maybe something similar. Hope you got your problem fixed.
