I didn't know that roaming profiles weren't supported in Windows 10! I am aware that DFS has been configured, but unfortunately I don't know if there are any DNS or root permission issues as I don't have server access. Are DNS and root permission issues the main causes of corrupt profiles then? Also, if roaming profiles are hosted on a DFS-R share, can that causes issues?

Hi, thanks for responding, I am a technician and unfortunately don't have the rights/permissions to access the servers to check the DNS and the root permissions etc. I will pass the information onto the NM though, as I am called to IT rooms to resolve these corrupt profiles on a weekly basis. I can delete the local profile but that never fixes the problem.

Hi, I am seeing more corrupt roaming profiles on the network. Running 2008R2 on the DC and Windows 7 x64 on all of the school machines. Deleting the local profile NEVER fixes the issue. Always have to delete the Network profile. It occurs on random machines and the same image is used throughout the school. Sophos AV and the same software on all machines. Static IP addresses used on all machines, printers etc. Any ideas what could be causing these corrupted profiles. One PC wouldn't even detect the students memory stick recently as they didn't realise that they had a temporary profile when they first logged in.. Any ideas on what to look at please?

Hi, Moodle was previously installed using an installer called Bitnami and I have been told that Moodle cannot be made available outside school as IIS was not configured on the 2008 server. Does anyone know about Bitnami installers for Windows as I have never come across it before?

Hi, we have a strange issue where if a student or member of staff lowers the volume slider in Windows 7 to it lowest level, when the next user logs in they cannot increase the volume, as the volume slider isn't visible!! The only way to resolve the issue is to login with the admin account and increase the volume, then log off. The OS is Windows 7 x64 professional. Just wondered if anyone has seen this strange issue and what the fix is please? Thanks

Thanks Keithu, I was informed that Moodle wouldn't be accessible externally without IIS, but I will look into making the existing installation accessible through the firewall.

Thanks Keithu, the Network Manager has installed Moodle using Bitnami on a 2008 box and hasn't installed/setup IIS. Do you know of a way to enable external access with Moodle without IIS?

Hi Since rolling out MS Office 2016 to all users one user has reported an issue with an old spreadsheet with a split a cell. They can't click inside or enter any data inside the split cell since Office 2016 was installed. Has anyone seen this and if so what was the fix please? Seen some posts about dodgy Office updates, but it is only affecting one machine....so far! Thanks

Thanks unixman_again. I am not familiar with WAMP, I will look it up! Apparently the HOD wanted Moodle setting up quickly which is why Bitnami was used. Just need a reasonably quick way of getting a VLE working externally.

Thanks Davit2005, we looked into externally hosting Moodle but cost is an issue with that route. Staff and Students will need to be able to access whatever VLE is chosen to add and access content externally. Quite a lot of work has gone into building Moodle but with the Bitnami setup and not being setup on IIS external access is currently unavailable. Has anyone seen Bitnami used to setup Moodle and if so have they managed to setup external access? Thanks

Hi Thanks, because Moodle was setup using Bitnami and not using IIS it's only accessible internally. No spare server to setup on IIS and with no knowledge of Moodle we are looking to migrate to Sharepoint. How would we go about porting the content over to Sharepoint please? Do you know of any other way to setup external access to Moodle?

Hi Calling any Moodle gurus! Moodle has been setup in school using Bitnami on a Windows 2008 box. Access to Moodle is only available to staff and students internally as external access is not available with type of Bitnami setup. Is it possible and if so is it very easy to migrate Moodle over to Sharepoint so external (home) access can be setup for staff and students? Any advice welcome on any other VLE solution other than Moodle as we have no Linux experience. Thanks

Hello, Not sure if this issue entirely belongs in the Server 2012 forum, but I am pretty sure it's a server issue. Random offline copies of the main printer/MFD are appearing for domain users on their windows 10 laptops. I have checked under print management on the 2012R2 server and there are only two listings for the Ricoh printer, which are the printer and the redirection. I can remove the random printer instances in devices and printers on the client machine, but sometimes they reappear for no apparent reason. Just wondered if anyone could let me know why this might be happening please, or how to troubleshoot this as I am quite new to the server side of things. Also, when a user sets the printer in question as the default printer it doesn't retain the default setting, which is frustrating for the user. Don't know how to set the printer as the default device on the server, so any help greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance!

Thanks to everyone for all your help and advice! After pushing the reg key using the default domain policy, most machines are able to access the web ok.Some machines are being stubborn and are retaining the old proxy settings, even after a gpupdate and a couple of restarts. I can always run netsh winhttp reset proxy on the stubborn machines. Group policy doesn't seem that consistent

Thanks for that tj2419, I have added the following reg key to the default domain policy. I then logged onto some domain machines and the change seemed to have worked. But sadly the policy change isn't having any affect on some of the workstsations, even after a couple of gpupdates and restarts?? I even took one of the machines that the amended policy has had no affect and removed and re-joined the domain, but that made no difference. Hi Kineas, I am currently attempting to create a policy to push out the registry value that you suggested, but the REGDWORD for ProxyEnable is set to 0 already. Is that correct? Under the data heading for the ProxyEnable value is 0x00000000. Do I just apply the policy with that value? I thought that I would have to change it to a 0?? Thanks

Thanks Kineas, the school have changed Internet providers recently, which is why the I need to remove the old proxy settings. The new filtering is transparent, so doesn't require any proxy settings. I will try creating a policy that pushes out the registry value.

Thanks jonnykewell1, The managed IT provider setup local profiles for all users, but I will try deleting a local profile and see what effect that has.

Thanks rrrrr, I will try your suggestion tomorrow, but I haven't seen the settings in 1. in server 2012? I will try and do what you recommend.

Really don't know enough about Group Policy to resolve this.
