Could someone explain via PM?

That solution seems very flawed to me. I just cannot see a way for that solution to work. Well it works with low numbers but not the numbers we are given. EDIT: The more I think about it the more the solution seems wrong. According to the logic in the solution everyone will leave thinking they have blue eyes even if they have not. I understand how the solution can work with low numbers, but say there are 11 blue eyed people. That means each blue eyed person see 10 other blue eyed people. No one can leave as they all see 10 other people with blue eyes. So the 11th person has no idea if their eyes are blue, red, green or whatever.

There are two problems the first being the slideshow just swaps between the images without any decent transition. At least with a video you can put fancy transitions effects between the photos. The second problem I didn’t find out till it was too late to easily fix. There play list is very unfriendly. Moving items up and down I is a pain and slow. If you have 20photos and want to put a video before the 20 photos that’s over 20 mouse clicks and not fast clicks either its a web interface so click slow. While if the 20photos are in the format of one video its only 2 ish clicks to put another video in front. The quality of the videos you get are top notch. There is a website you can download your choice of videos to upload. The web interface is poor, there are key features missing like no random playlist button, no easy way to dowload content you have uploaded. But from an end user point of view the system is very good.

Starting to change my mind on Fronter thanks to Face-man pointing out you can use files created outside of Fronter. Now I am re-designing every page/room outside of Fronter with a web flash page and it already look x10 better.

Those demo sites seem to have done things I didn’t think are possible. Go to Login: secondary Password: London https://fronter.com/ukusers/ Now go to the GCSE ICT room. The boxes are not aligned up and the whole page has been tweaked far beyond other pages. How can we do that?

We are having the same problem. The only semi useful part of Frontier so far for us is a Staff room with the shared calendar. Been thinking about a booking page for the mini bus and we have an upload folder to hand in staff reports. But so far everyone just use’s email. The problem with Frontier is mostly it’s just a different way to do things we already do. We have yet to find a way to make Frontier improve children’s learning or make staffs lives easier. I see Frontier as really good in theory but a waste of time in practise at least for us. If you’re doing a for and against Fronter, one big against is it’s not inclusive. There is pretty much zero SEN support and you could argue Frontier is discriminating against special needs users who cannot acess it. EDIT: Its little things like you cannot change the font, font size or font colour in tests/surveys. There is no switch access. No way to switch a colour profile on for one user who is colour blind or needs high contrast and well you could spend hours writeing up reasons why Fronter is not SEN friendly.

Time to cancel the 10+ year pre order.

I would go for someone who has worked for 3 years in a support role. But that doesn’t mean that are any good by default. Give them some tasks to complete. If they appeared to be experienced then I would prefer them.

I was recently changed to ICT manager as I did not feel right as a NM. I see a NM as managing an IT team but I don’t have a team to manage. I am also based in that bit in the middle of England.

We are having similar problem its clunky to use. I wouldnt go as far to say horrible but it’s not a smooth experience. To make it worse it’s mostly a waste of time for us as are most VLE. We are only implanting it as it a tick box to tick. It’s not really any use to our children or teachers, apart from the shared calendar for the staff room which is about the only thing of any use so far. I love the theory behind a VLE but in practise due to out demo graph it’s just not benefiting our staff or children.

Most people use the same password for more than one thing so I do not want to know it. Synetrix should gives us a choice or by default reset our master password to “1234” or something while they test. Then we can reset it back after. EDIT: If you look at the gaming world and someone forgets the password or tech support needs it they generate a random secure password like 56sf73s.

Classroom computers range from 4 up to 10 with 5 or 6 being average. There are laptops for the rare occasion when there are more than 10 students in a class. Most classes have IWB but a few like Food Tech and CD&T just go for projectors. But we are a SEN school and SEN schools tend to have a 1:1 or 1:2 pupil computer ratio. Our aim is to have no camera, PC or laptop more then 4 years old.

To me someone who is a Trainee IT Technician is still learning how to be a Technician. While someone who is a Junior IT Technician has completed training but still be relatively new to the job and possibly inexperienced, but thats not always the case. Some places you never move beyond Junior IT Technician as the post is basic. As far is I am aware there is no standard for when you move beyond Junior IT Technician.

I believe none of the current VLEs meet Beta standards. Becta Schools - Data handling security guidance for schools Page 15 lists the types of authentication needed to access data remotely.

The other person might have booked that plane knowing it had high speed internet with the plan to work remotely or video conference during the flight. The highspeed connation might have been a key point in picking that flight. Just because the author didn’t know it existed 10seconds ago doesn’t mean everyone else on the plane didn’t know.

Some of those are very funny like the Eve one but at the same time so very wrong.

We don’t log anything. I often use tasks in outlook but that’s more a reminder to do jobs then a log and I only put jobs in there I am likely to forget.

If it was done in an older version of Office, I think pre 2003 then its very easy to use brute force to figure out the password. More so if you know if there are upper case letters and where along with numbers o rnot.

Ask for it to be investigated but make it clear that if it was an accident and not incompetence you don’t want the person to get into trouble. Even the best of us get things wrong at some point. If its a one off from a otherwise good staf member I would say leave it. If the person does it a lot then thats another thing alltogather.

Are the PCs to be used only as digital signage? Could you just leave them logged in with the screensaver running only put a password on to deactivate the screensaver? What about some sort of HTML background with no start menu or desktop items. Put the RSS feed into the HTML along with blogs, pics and anything else you want.
