Windows 10 - Settings App - Disable Ability to CHnage Proxy Settings
datar_ replied to DNM's topic in Windows 10
Didn't even check this, might apply this one out -
Could be worse... Could be getting a buzz off of Euro Truck Simulator 2 with the Multiplayer mod installed

In terms of licening would it not be easier to use Hyper-V Host and RSAT it. What's the stipulation of licensing on a Hyper-V Host compared to using Server 2016 STD? I would assume it would have to be a 1:1 license per vm?

Does crash on MacOS. :-) It looks like they've dropped an older version of Ruby again.

I tell you what, I do like the little padlock

So what I could have is two XML files, one for Pupils, one for Staff. The Staff one having this restriction lifted which would then allow them to alter the rest of the start menu I like the sound of this
-
Ooh Partial, This is what I would like to do for Staff. I'd like to give that a go at some point

Reckon they fixed it in a Zero-Day update? This might be why there isn't a normal ISO out yet ^_^

Have you had a quick mooch in Event Viewer to see if there is a problem applying the Start Layout. (Yet to do this myself) I seem to remember when I was experimenting with this last year that the StartMenu wouldn't apply if there was an error.

Recently Purchased Mortal Combat X on the PC Spent 6 hours that night with the other halfs step dad and the neighbours, projecting on a big screen Haven't completed any games recently, although I'm becoming very adept at Cities Skylines, even installing mods to create traffic flow by controlling the traffic lights themselves! (What am I doing with my time /wrists) Looking to get Forza Horizon 3 on cross platform though. ( defo not in the pipe lines of taking a power laptop to work and going online *cough* )

I use the following policy in the Windows 10 ADMX User Configuration > Policies > Administrative Templates > Start Menu and Taskbar > Start Layout Enabled the policy using that XML file in a public location, i.e. \\domain.name\netlogon\win10\startmenu.xml This applies that XML file to the user as they logon, OR should do. I have started having a couple issues recently where this hasn't been applying. Could be a slow-link thing on my end however

I was gonna say I've not seen much documentation on Shared PC. I started to thing it's something to do with Microsoft InTune. It's similarly like that on iPads, in Apple Configurator a line appeared on Blueprints saying Shared iPads : NO... How do I make it yes i thought looking through the help guides... nothing

Ah I see. I had a bit of difficulty getting this to work at first. The way I got to work was that I had to add a shortcut to the StartMenu (%CommonStartMenuDir%) to the network path I wanted: \\ServerName\Share$\Folder and then in the StartMenu.Xml file I would have this line which was populated from doing that PowerShell Export. So I basically on my Admin Machine dragged and dropped the shortcut applied by GPO onto the StartMenu and then Exported them :-) Hope this helps -- EDIT: %CommonStartMenuDir% is All Users Start Menu when you make the shortcut

I've started having issues with this recently, it works fine on 10586.0 but some when some machines update to 10586.437+ or 14393, it's been a bit odd. Good way to troubleshoot this is to recreate your StartLayout.xml using the powershell command. See if that works It's something I'll be looking into today and I'll let you know

This is a problem that Microsoft are claiming to fix in the next version of Windows 10, probably 1611. https://blogs.windows.com/windowsexperience/2016/10/07/announcing-windows-10-insider-preview-build-14942-for-pc/ Scroll down to "Improving the Upgrade Experience" -- I'm quite eager to trial this in the wild!

Whoops, looks like we might need to jump onto the feedback hub

From what I can read, it looks like you can inplace upgrade and later change your edition of Windows by doing an DISM /ONLINE and changing the edition of Window Server 2016 from Standard EVAL to just Standard. Yet to actually test this but the TechNet Article looks promising for doing this to Windows 8/10 etc... Running the same command would change it from Eval to Standard - after a few reboots that is dism /online /set-edition:ServerStandard /productkey:AAAAA-BBBBB-CCCCC-DDDDD-EEEEE /accepteula If it doesn't do that, you could alter the ISO using DISM to install Standard and not StandardEval

Sorry to bring up such an old post but I wanted to add my 2 pence to this If you use something like Orca MSI you can actually use these arguments as properties when you modify the MSI. i.e. adding the PIDKEY to their MSI file so that you can just deploy with GPO. I actually added all of the above into the MSI and they all worked a treat ;-)

If you want to run Windows 10 updates however, you just need to do a couple of things to fix WSUS. First thing - Re-run the Post install for WSUS by running the command: "C:\Program Files\Update Services\Tools\wsusutil.exe" postinstall /servicing Then go into Server Manager and install the feature, .Net Framework 4.5 Features > WCF Services > HTTP Activation; If not already installed it will install another feature, Windows Activation Process Model If WSUS doesn't fix itself after that, give the service a reboot. Let me know how you get on

If you have purchased your free apps on VPP, try going to Systems Manager > VPP and re-syncing your licenses. I've noticed the polling has been quite slow recently.
-
Oooh the Licenses have appeared on VLSC. I sound a little bit too excited

I'm very surprised how well it's delivered on the Xbox one, I am a PC gamer but decided against getting it on PC for whatever reason. Playing it at 1080p@60fps and the relentlessness of the single player campaign so far. It's just unexpected how well it's all worked [emoji23]
