  1. I got an upgrade to 150 from 100 which I was going to get later this year however since I've had so many issues with my connection they gave it me early. Only problem is I never really get that speed and I'm almost always running lower than 100 at something like 60-70. I also have terrible latency issues and for some reason torrent sessions on virgin media are a pain to deal with since any sort of torrent session murders the bandwidth so when one of my games that updates uses a torrent session decides to update I have to kiss goodbye to being able to stream anything for a while
  2. I believe you can however you can't have more than one message so you have to change the default lock screen text which wouldn't exactly work well if teachers lock the classroom PC's and the message shows something like 'School Lockdown'. I'm not sure if it's still the same in the newest version but we do use Impero to do this but it just has the standard lock screen however it works quite well in the sense that you just drag all the PC's into the lockdown group and all the PC's are then inaccessible.
  3. Ironically I literally was sorting an issue with our new Ricoh Printers which were using the old HP drivers from the original printers since the names of the printers were the same. Although I found an alternative way to do this I have saved this script since it looks pretty good for any future issues!
  4. I am also interested in this if @newpersn decides not to buy it.

  7. Vouch for this, I use flux at home and it helps a huge amount when your on the PC a lot but not so much at work unless you set the config manually. On it's automatic setting it will dim the brightness based on the time of day and I have found I experience less eye strain using this.
  8. Are you pulling any external content at all on your wordpress theme?
  9. I think one of the top comments for the video was something along the lines of the film looks like a spin off of guardians of the galaxy which from what I can see is pretty much exactly what it looks like.
  10. Hi All, I was wondering if any schools have any spare DDR2 laptop memory as we have number of older laptops in school which have between 1gb and 2gb of memory and we could do with increasing this to get the maximum amount of life out of the laptops before replacement. Of course getting new DDR2 laptop memory is expensive so if anyone has any spares DDR2 modules they can offer us for free (if possible of course) or for a low price please let me know as we are struggling to handle these laptops! Regards, Chris.
  11. I wish we would/could but frankly a lot of our hardware is poor and an SSD won't really help much! That said the hardware that can benefit from it we try and upgrade where possible but we don't have anywhere near that amount! We would however like to know where you got them from since we may buy some next time a good deal is available!
  12. Basically: https://www.vbulletin.com/docs/html/main/reputation_levels Unless the default values have changed that should be about right. I believe the coloured dots are the percentage to your next star but we will need to wait for a forum admin to provide the exact values for them. Edit: Also this may help: http://www.edugeek.net/members/list/?order=desc&sort=reputation&pp=30 Silver stars are received once you have 4 bronze stars and you earn your fifth which converts them into the silver star.
  13. Same result here, you using virgin business line?
  14. Hi All, I am currently playing around with windows 10 on our domain and have found an annoying issue in which when you add the machine to the domain and log on with a domain user account your unable to open the start menu at all. This is similar to a bug in which you need to enter a powershell command to resolve the issue however I expect it's caused by something in our default domain policy as I have setup an OU which only uses that one policy. I know the easiest way around this would be to start from the ground up to avoid any potentially problematic policies however I wondered if anyone else has had this issue when adding windows 10 machines to their domain and if so what they found was causing the issue.
  15. But then I can't browse edugeek!
  16. Here's mine: I just moved to my new desk in the back room so i get the view on my right. Unfortunately I am right under the network cab with 3 switches in so it's not exactly peaceful lol.
  17. I played it in the closed beta however I decided against buying it since I don't really have the large clan interaction I used to and I feel it's much better when it's played in a group.
  18. Indeed, backups, replication, tapes, cloud, anything you can think of is usually a good idea when it comes to backups!
  19. That is pretty much what we have setup however we found it caused a few issues with the TV's since they are so old and having a local device allowed for a better resolution to be supported and also means that we wouldn't have 5 TV's fail when once PC stopped working. That said since I had the xibo server setup I've configured it with a client which seems to be working fine so I've reimaged the previously broken host machine and I'm working on installing xibo on that as well. I'm hoping that this will work out fine for now and over time we can look into new TV's and possibly a NUC type of machine behind each TV.
  20. We looked into xibo however we found that support for xibo on the raspberry pi was limited at best so although we do have an xibo server installed it's pretty much been left as a stock installation for the time being. I will be looking into it further however my manager won't be that happy about having to pay £99 each for machines to handle the client especially when the TV's displaying the content are probably worth less than that now since they are so old!
  21. Hi All, I know this topic has been mentioned before but I didn't want to hijack other threads about this issue! We currently have a very old signage system in place (pupils.tv) which no longer exist and after one of our tv player PC's failed a few weeks ago we have been looking for replacements. As with most schools our budget is pretty much non existent so with 13 screens to put content on we are looking to go down the raspberry pi route so that rather than having the handful of windows PC's we have currently running the system we would have each TV with it's own raspberry pi. The problem is that we are unable to find suitable signage software that works out of the box with the raspberry pi and unfortunately the only solution we have found that does work with them (concerto) has a number of crippling bugs making it impossible to setup correctly. Our question is how does everyone else handle their signage and has anyone used raspberry pi's for signage and if so what server/client solution do you use. Regards, Chris.
  22. I believe it's a similar story with toshiba as well however in our case there is no way to stop users setting the password which is a pain in the neck. To be honest however all it takes is that one pupil who thinks it's a good idea to mess around with the laptops and it cause a whole load of problems but at least your able to reconfigure the laptops to prevent it in future!
  23. I believe asda can be a bit hit and miss since when I used to use them I found I would never get much mileage out of a full tank yet using my local BP garage I've almost done 500 miles and I've still got 1/4 a tank left to go.
