My spare spare has now been put on my EG shelf in my office at home ... nearly all EG merchandise / freebies on there apart from the clothes (I wear them a lot) and the fluted latte glass ... I never got one of them due to them arriving broken when dropped off by the courier (literally). I must flutter my eyelashes at @Dos_Box some time to see if he has a spare spare spare I could have!

Whatever local (country / state / regional) laws apply in the country where that data centre is hosted, eg Australia, Japan, Brazil, etc. Most companies will have this within their T&Cs (which everyone always reads)!

The risk assessment has been talked about in other threads around DPA and cloud systems. The issue is partly around the local laws of the data centres. If the data centre is within the EEA (not EU ... There is a difference) or within the US... People are more acceptable of the risk due to understanding and control on local laws. This is why MS tend to be viewed more acceptable as you can specify the data centre as EU only (therefore it is within the EEA) ... held in Ireland or Netherlands, with no duplication elsewhere. This is not yet an option with Google Apps, and ISO27001 is superseded by local laws. Personally I would prefer that folk educate schools about the risk and help them understand why such recommendations are given. It is generally up to the school on this except where LAs are holding central data exchange agreements or where schools by into specific legal advice (eg they ask for advice, they get it but ignore it ... meaning if something goes wrong they cannot get further advice / cover). YMMV

Have a chat with @garethedmondson about C@S stuff if you are thinking about coding ... and there are a few STEM groups at BETT too. I would also look at the webmaker projects run by the Mozilla Foundation.

I'll find out when the next NetworkNorthants meeting is (nudges @Ashm) and you can come up to meet our schools ... I think we have pretty much every perceivable option in Northants now! I'm sure some are local enough for them to do some demos for you.

I've now also been told (via @tbush on twitter) that Asus are indeed part of the Microsoft Stands, so they will have a presence at BETT.

I have one now ... and it is at the beck and call of my daughter. "Daddy ... mountain!" (Lay down on floor so she can climb over me), "Daddy ... horse" (get down on all fours to she can ride on my back), "Daddy ... Choo Choo" (like horse but with straight legs so I become a tunnel she can crawl under), "Daddy ... tunnel" (Stand with legs akimbo so she can run through me legs ... ducking her head most of the time so she doesn't headbut me in the unmentionables ... most of the time!)

Unfortunately there isn't an easy way to do it with the apps (and even then it is not brilliant). The best bet will be to spend the first 15-20 mins of the show sat in a cafe with the show guide.

Evernote and Mindnode are probably the top 2 I use most days, then Keynote, Pages (Numbers is not a substitute for Excel due to the amount of data mangling SLT tend to end up doing), Prezi, a variety of photo apps (primarily iPhoto and Snapseed), iMovie (handy for trimming and tidying clips), Photosynth, uStream and uStream Broadcaster, Citrix connector ... and about a dozen or so more but usually ad-hoc. I've mention before about getting folk to understand the benefits of certain tools and the SAMR model. Ask your SLT to think about what they already use, how they use it and then to apply SAMR themselves to apps. It helps them understand the tech better, understand their own methods of productivity, makes them a little more inventive about how they might use certain apps (along with helping them to assess the limitations some apps have, such as Numbers) and also helps when you are trying to persuade them to share these ideas with each other.

The Microsoft Partners in Learning crew are usually good for interesting ways to use tech in the classroom, if you can catch a few TeachMeet Takeovers they can be good fun and any of the C@S related stuff should be interesting to see. Because the venue is different and there are some folk who are not there anymore (Adobe didn't make it last year either, for example) it is hard to say "this is usually a good thing".

I've been doing what I do every year ... looking the the show guide for this year and comparing it to last year. Usually I do it to see if there are any folk who have moved to a new location or who have had mergers / name changes / etc ... and this tends to be fairly easy when you are comparing the 2 maps ... except this year they show plans are completely different. Someone would think it is a new venue! ;-) Instead, this year I am going through the show guide for last year and making a note of exhibitors that aren't appearing this year, or who are new and weren't there previously. It is taking some time to manually go through but I will stick up those folk who are missing first to see if anyone knows if they are still there but partnered with someone else, or if there is another reason why they are not attending (eg attending a different show instead or concentrating on using the money for other things ... like making things work or reducing the cost of the kit for the customer ... or they have simply gone under!) I will be using SAMR as a way of assessing they have a clue about whether they are selling shiny stuff or something that will make a difference.
