More slow and annoying to the person riding, yes, but I'm not seeing how it is more dangerous then being in busy traffic where you are going to be forcing other road users to maneuver around you? I'm not purposefully being argumentative but the only cycle paths I have ever come across that where not safer than using the road where poorly placed ones that had a lot of physical obstructions on them (think someone above mentioned one with lamp posts in the middle for example). There may be many that are less convenient or not as easy as using the road (have to give way more, is a bit further away than the road, etc) but with the one exception every cycle path I have come across was safer for everyone if people used it. I might well be wrong, there might be some seriously terrible cycle paths that are a danger to their users. However I have a hard job picturing one that is more dangerous than sharing the road with 2-10Ton vehicles moving up to 60MPH driven by people who mostly don't care about anything else that is using the roads. I only cycle in the summer for fun but I would definitely prefer to go out of my way to use even a halfway decent cycle path over pretty much any road. I don't want to be the indirect cause of an accident if there is a viable alternative. Sounds like my journey in to work every morning at the moment, stupid roadworks on every major road in town all at the same time....
-
I could kind of understand if that is the case but in this instance it is not. Both cycle paths are completely separate to the road and in both cases you would have a lot less stopping/starting than if you where on the road due to there being parked traffic to get around/give way at Vs a cyclic path that is completely clear for miles and miles. I would also have to counter that with if it is too hard for you to stop/start on your bike then maybe you shouldn't be on the road with it? Choosing the option that is endangering lives (including your own) just because it is easier seems like a bit of a bad move. (* when I say "you", I don't me you specifically, just as a general term ).

So much this in the area I live. Along our seafront here there is a very nice, wide, flat, unobstructed, cycle path. About 200 yards away is a VERY busy road that runs parallel to it and has a lot of goods vehicles as well as regular traffic. Why for the love of god would you not just take the extra 20 seconds to get onto the cycle path and instead risk your life on a super busy and dangerous road? The same goes for another cycle path that covers the 8 or 9 miles to the next town. Its smoother than the road (which is narrow and has cars and lorries going 50MPH on it) but people still insist on riding on the road. It's not even that they would have to go out of their way to get to it as it is less than 20 ft from the road. Most of them I see on here are the guys with all the kit as well and I just don't understand why. Why risk your life, slow down traffic (which is going to make stupid people do stupid things and risk your life even more) when there is a perfectly good cycle path RIGHT THERE!! I know that both these cycle paths are perfectly usable (and in fact better than the roads they run beside) as me and my family use them regularly ourselves in the summer.

Also when you leave your power armor anywhere make sure you remove the core. If you dont then NPC's (including settlers) tend to like taking it out for a spin. It is possible to pickpocket the fusion core out of someone wearing power armor. This makes them get out of the suit so then you can take the frame as well as the armor. The only downside is the frame then counts as being stolen which can be both an advantage and disadvantage for certain companions. Also that first death claw I killed without the power armor or the mini gun sat on the roof of the museum with the laser musket throwing whatever explosives I had at the time down on it. Took awhile but saved all the minigun ammo and didn't damage any of the power armor so I could "save them for later". 30 odd levels later I still haven't used either of them Edit: The only times I have used power armor is when I found some in the middle of clearing an area/doing a quest so wore it until I was done and my second attempt at killing the Mirelurk Queen. The first attempt on the Mirelurk queen was a 15 minute long battle of me kiting her around chipping away her health with small arms fire (I hadn't unlocked the really good gun mods by that point so think the best damage I had was about 80 per shot on a single action rifle). After a long hard fought battle I got her down to the point where it would only take 1 or 2 more shots then I messed up and got killed. I reloaded, went back, picked up my T60 armor and fatman then ended the fight in about 30 seconds. The first attempt was a lot more fun if I'm honest.

Depends on your playstyle, perks and equipment choice. I tend not to use it very often as I like to snipe but there are times when it is very handy. When you have a bunch of fast moving targets in close (assaultrons and bugs especially) or if you need to take something big down with one shot (save the critical up for when you need it). If you gear up with +AP, AP Regen and AP usage reduction and go for the perks that support VATS it can be really powerful.

These are starting to get annoying. The other night I literally finished one when another one started. In the end I have just not finished the last part of the quest (talk to Preston) as this seems to stop any more from being able to happen.
-
I finally did it!!! I started the second quest Stupid settlement bugs are annoying the hell out of me. Sanctuary was up to 95% happiness. Added more tier 3 stores and now it wont go above 85%. Have tried removing them and rebuilding/reassigning but the max happiness cap seems entirely random (between 85-95%). Doesn't help that when you leave it will randomly decide it has no beds or food and just tank the happiness. Think I'm going to give up on getting the achievement until after its patched. Does anyone else never seem to get weapon drops from legendary's? Out of maybe 30-40 I have killed I have only had maybe 3 weapons (and they sucked). It also seems like left leg armor is harder to find than the rest (on both normal armor and power armor). More than once I have upgraded my armor through drops and just been stuck with a left leg that still needed to be replaced. I also have quite a few sets of power armor which is just missing a left leg but have lots of spares for all the other parts.

[movie trailer] Star Wars: Episode VII - The Force Awakens
Duranis replied to rickjames's topic in TV & Movies
Saw the trailer at the cinema at the weekend and it did look amazing on the big screen. I'm actually way more excited about seeing this film than I am about Christmas. -
I watched this over the weekend and was fairly disappointed. I don't know if I was just missing something or what but the whole film seemed like a whole lot of nothing. Without any spoilers (and bearing in mind I haven't read the books so just judging the film): The first 3/4 of the film had pretty much zero bearing on the plot and just felt like 100% runtime filler. It could have all been cut and the movie could pretty much have started at the scene outside the mansion gates. The whole love triangle crap really could have been resolved 3 films ago and again adds nothing to the plot of the characters. In fact the main characters struggles could have been made much more personal and real if had already been resolved and she showed real feelings towards a certain brain washed guy from the beginning of the last film. Instead we get the same old Mary Sue writing of "I have two great guys that both love me so much, how will I ever choose". All this does is make the main character look like an idiot and removes the opportunity to build a real believable relationship between her and the love interest (which means you basically don't care about what happens between them at all). The overall ending was reasonably interesting even if it wasn't overly well fleshed out. It did seem a bit "Generic ending because I don't know how to properly finish a story" but it kind of worked. Personally I think I would have preferred it if the last 2 films had a ton of filler cut and was just released as 1. It did occur to me (probably obvious in hindsight) that this probably has the same target demographic as Twightlight and that the first film (which I actually really enjoyed) kind of tricked me to just go along with the rest.

I think a lot of the idea with this as well is to make it as cheap as possible to remove price as an entry point. I have wanted to play around with the Pi for awhile now but even though it isn't really expensive I still couldn't justify spending the money on it when it was just curiosity. For £4 I don't feel bad about picking one up to play with and if its something I actually get some use from I can get a better version later. I suspect there are probably a few people out there that feel the same way. Also for a school club 10 of these at £40 vs 1 B at £30 is kind of a good deal. Again if the club has interest and the kids are wanting to do more with it then they could pick up a couple of the B versions and use the Zero's as a starting device.

Its actually surprisingly easy to spoof an email address if you just set up an SMTP server. In theory SPF and DMARC should catch them. In practice SPF records are pretty much impossible to keep up to date, most big email providers and governments don't have public DMARC records and most email providers would rather still send you the email even if the SPF record doesn't match.

Can't help on the recommendation but have replaced the brushes on a few machines and its dead easy. It is normally exactly what is wrong in this type of situation as well. The only pain can be trying to get the right ones to fit an older machine, I have had to modify a few in the past to make them fit.

People Are Scaring Their Cats With Cucumbers. They Shouldn't
Duranis replied to 6Foot2's topic in General Chat
It doesn't have any effect on some cats. -
Perks so far have been really hard to pick. Having access to pretty much all of them from the start is really nice but with so much choice it makes life difficult. My picks kind of went in this order: Local leader rank 2 (for supply lines and stores) - Even if you aren't doing a lot with the settlement side of the game the rank 1 for supply lines are useful so you can drop off junk in any workshop and access it from anywhere. Don't expect to make a lot of money from the stores until you have a lot of them running (it will still take a long time to earn back what they cost to set up). Lock picking and Hacking (I don't like not being able to get into something so tried to pick these asap as ranks are available). Gun Nut and Armorer - Unlocking these as soon as I can. Modding the armor and guns gives a much greater boost than any of the other perks. For example Rifleman Rank 2 might give me 60% (I think) damage increase for rifles but Rank 2 Gun nut can let me change the receiver to double the damage on pretty much any weapon (as well as better ammo capacity, recall, etc). Same deal goes for armorer Vs Toughness perks. Science - Have rank 1 at the moment to unlock a few mods. Not a priority until I start using power armor or plasma/laser weapons. Scavenger - Rank 2 getting the rare components from breaking down armor and guns is really nice. As is having tag items highlighted when exploring. Rifleman - Only have rank 1 at the moment. Once I start running into stuff that I can't put down quickly from a distance I will start putting more points into this. Toughness - Only have rank 1 to make life easier at the start when weapons where not so great. Now I try and kill everything at a distance so don't get hit that much. Once I start taking more damage I will put points in here. Medic - Rank 1 just so I could build a clinic in the settlements. Tier 3 clinics are cheaper than the other stores that raise happiness (and don't need rank 2 cap collector to build). TL-DR Version: Settlement perks>Unlocking perks>Damage boosting>Damage Reduction>Other

Playing on a console sitting on a sofa so its more of a pain to use the App then just hit B in game. Now have 8 suits of power armor, Level 25, sanctuary is at 95% happiness and have 4 other settlements I'm building up with over 60 hours played and I still haven't started the second quest in the main quest line. There are too many distractions in this game, I will never complete it.
-
It does seem to be a little more straight forward. The map in general seems a little smaller than previous games but there is a lot less "dead space" with nothing in it. Some people don't like that but I kind of like there being lots of little encounters and places fairly close together rather than running for 10 minutes to get somewhere and only seeing a couple of random mob spawns. There is also a perk that will let you use VATS as a kind of GPS. If you hold down the vats button it will go into VATS mode and show a green smoke trail guiding you in the direction of your nearest objective. This can be really useful if there are lots of twists and turns.

Yeah I have about 40-50 hours played so far. I have only just got to that same part. Sanctuary is now so full of items I can no longer place anything else. Trying to get the happiness above 95 but its pretty bugged (if you leave it sometimes says there is not enough beds, which quickly tanks the happiness, which then takes forever to get back up again). Think I need a couple more clinics to get that last 5 points then I will stop caring about it. As a side tip you may know the number of settlers in a settlement is capped at 10+Your charisma (so in my case its 16 as I have 6 Char), Companions and quest people in that settlement count towards the total of people there so it can be a good idea to send all companions to 1 settlement that you don't care about as they don't always want to be assigned to jobs (mine all live at the Red Rocket). More importantly though you can raise the cap by using Charisma improving items and moving people from one settlement to another settlement that is already at its cap. I haven't fully tested this but with I manged to get Sanctuary up to 20 people even though I'm capped at 16. I managed to boost my Charisma by 12 points from the stuff I had in my inventory at the time so if you really want for it you could maybe get an extra 20 people in from it (assuming there isn't a hard cap somewhere). Considering how many sources of stat buffs there are (food, drugs, armor, even power armor painted with vault tec paint scheme) it is likely possible to get a massive stat boost.

I have 2 sets of power armor so far. The only thing that bugs me is I took a set off a raider (pickpocketed the fusion core so I got the frame as well) and it is classed as stolen which can effect your standing with some of the companions. I haven't used it at all yet but I also haven't really been doing any quests either. I went home at lunch to find my Mrs was playing it. She is tidying up Sanctuary for me.... cat pictures as far as the eye can see....
-
This is the way to go. If you have a very large building you might need to connect a few around the outside of it to fully cover it. The range seems to be a rough 8-10M sphere around them. Not sure if the large pylons give a larger power sphere or not. I also spent about 6 hours last night clearing out sanctuary, putting a fence all the way around it and building a large tower/gate entryway at the bridge with integrated spotlights and turrets.

Seems to be working here. If someone you work with seriously called you a liar that is pretty out of order.
-
Yeah the Battlefront Beta was pretty dull. The full game may be a little more interesting with more weapons, gamemodes, etc, but I still think the gameplay will end up being pretty boring. Fallout 4 I would highly recommend if you like the previous Fallout games or a nice open world exploration game/shooting/RPG. I was put off by some of the reviews (and it is true some of the RPG elements that made the previous games great are missing or changed) but after playing it myself it is still an incredibly fun game.

In theory that is what he was supposed to do. In practice I'm [Hidden] while there is a bunch of feral ghouls and raiders fighting it out among themselves. Next thing I know all of them are attacking the dog (I'm still showing as hidden) and one of the raiders with a fatman wipes us both out. That GIF is very funny. My Mrs didn't like it because I kept using the dog to clear out landmines last night
-
Anyone find dogmeat is a bit of a pain if you are trying to play stealthy? More than once I have not been detected but the dog has run off and got in a fight with something. I would leave him at home but he looks so awesome in his red scarf and goggles that he has to come with me (plus I need something to help carry all the junk I collect). I spent 2 hours trying to do an easy quest last night, just could not find the guy I needed to kill. Handed the controller to the Mrs to have a look round and she found the way in about 5 minutes.... even worse it was an elevator that I had gone past saying "I will come back to that once I have checked the rest of this floor".. I did manage to build my first semi decent sniper rifle though which was awesome and I stole a set of raider power armor complete with the frame
-
Handy to know. I can see this leading to a situation were you end up stuck inside a locked room
-
How are you finding not using power armor? One of my only concerns is that it might end up being a "Must Have" for a good chunk of the game. I have always played the super stealthy, snipe them from 5 miles away class so prefer to wear light armor but with the power armor being such a big thing in this game was worried it might be something that is expected you will use. So far the only time I have used it was jumping in it to fast travel back to Sanctuary. I killed the Raiders and the Deathclaw from the roof as I didn't want to dent up my new armor or waste the minigun ammo
