Simon - just put "annoymous" for the user/pass Bubbles - if your LA/ISP still blocks 25 you either have to continue using their relay, or setup your own local one - I know there are alot of other guides on here that explain the process, its just a standard feature of Windows Server and its useful for other things - like printers

They'll vary LA, to LA so its not a standard definition they (Capita) can just give you. But for the LA to product the file (which you can import), the LA has to buy license from Capita for exporting. Same with VAT rates in FMS. Remember kids, With Capita, export is free, import routine is £££ - and its a yearly cost too! (Well expect the VAT one)

They support alot of open source stuff, like Debian meetup, they do the Raspberry Pi webhosting. They offer domain privacy by no extra charge (even on .com etc). I can give three options 1/ In-house - you're basically after BI. Build a BI solution, the most popular BI tool is Excel, so just a question of building a data warehouse, so extract data from the various schools MIS systems (SIMS?) then pull it all together. Fair about of pain - you can get in a firm in to help build - I was speaking to one in general about either doing a basic solution that'll be open source (then sell consultancy to setup\build extra bits of data to), or selling a packaged solution. Really depends on amount of interest if they'll do it however. 2/ Are you going to BETT? We're not saying they won't be a need for app - that would be silly. We're saying that you won't need to have buy it as a bolt-on \ add-on \ extra as it would be part of the core product. Its no longer a separate requirement! I'm not skipping the point, offline working IS a key component of a mobile app, like I said, no-one believe their phone never loses connectivity. If your building an app, it needs to have offline working, otherwise, why don't you just make your website mobile friendly?!? We all know you meant the fact going forward MIS will be web api based, so the code for mobile\web will 90% the same, they will be built together, it won't be a totally separate component independently developed and most importantly, billed separately.

Depends. Short answers, should be ok to exclude, check with your Support Team, its what you pay for them for - longer answer The data folder is failsafe, yes its the raw database files, but it might be a unclean copy, it might have "files" open (wrong word files but its Monday) - admittedly SQL is transactional so its be v.unlucky if you couldn't use it. Backup is the default folder for SQL backups - so depends how its setup. If its actually creating backups else where then should just be junk. I'd say that was poorly setup IMHO. For starters, why is SQL installed into C: drive. If the LDF grows out of control and fills the disc you won't be able to boot - not too much trouble for a virtual, but a physical, you're going to kiss good bye to a day to fix it.

What's your current uptime like? First port of call would be your current ISP - so county - do they offer a backup. If you've got a lease line, they normally have a option to have a ADSL\fibre backup connection, or if you've got ADSL\fibre, a 3G connections - its all handled at the (hopefully managed) router, so you don't have to do anything.

Not sure even I would find that fun, three ways I think you could do it - Follow the money, if an Academy has paid PS Financials, chances are they are using PS Financials - problems, could be paid via reseller or it could be bundled - like with MIS licensing (ie FMS) - Get the returns updated so they can be automatically completed via finance system (like Census) so you could reliability extract supplier from return - red tape anyone? - Ask - which is a lot of leg work. And will most likely annoy a lot of folks.
