Hi Guys and Gals, We recently (last week) moved from our old proxy to Netsweeper. Today i installed the Netsweeper client on all our Macs. But for some reasons Chrome doesn't work, it comes up with a proxy error and looking in the logs on Netsweeper it's showing no traffic! Which makes me think it has the wrong proxy settings. Looking on the Macs all have 0 proxy settings set (Before we had HTTP / HTTPs set pointing to our then proxy but these have now been removed). When looking in chrome and going to proxy it just takes me to the Macs default proxy settings in System Preferences. Safari works fine and logs in Netsweeper but we prefer our Students to use Chrome. Anyone else had this issue, could Chrome still be referencing the old proxy in some way? Only thing i haven't tried is to reinstall chrome! Dalek

We have roughly 94 x zf7363 (plus brackets), very reliable haven't had one die in my time, just old (They don't do ac) Along with a sprinkling of other models i can't remember! Also a Zone Director 3050 and a Zone Director 1100 Collection from South Somerset or pay for delivery Intergalactic shipping valid for all planets bar Gallifrey.

Hi All, I'm planning on updating our Macs to Mojave this summer (currently on High Sierra). The only problem i foresee is we are running Sibelius 7.1 which says it doesn't support Mojave. Guessing this is down to Mojave changing the file format to APFS. I know High Sierra does for flash storage but all our Macs are either Hybrid or conventional HDD so weren't changed in High Sierra to APFS. Also looking at AVIDs website the latest Sibelius is 8.7.2 which also says it doesnt support Mojave, unless they changed the naming conventional after that release as they have different named Sibelius versions which do (Ultimate, First etc.) I installed 7.1 on our test MBP running 10.14.5 and it seems to be working OK, but i have no real knowledge of the software so unsure what to test etc. Anyone running 7.1 on Mojave across a suite? does it run reliably? Thanks Dalek

Mac Mini As Cache Server For Lightspeed MDM
DalekSec replied to rlculver's topic in Network and Classroom Management
I've setup caching server on a Mac Mini but with Mosyle, not that it matters because it doesn't require an MDM. Long story short, When it's turned on it will cache any app store, ios updates content etc that the Mac is on the network of. We have several VLANs that has apple specific traffic so ours is setup like this: 1 NIC, with the unfiltered VLAN being at the top of the network list in system preferences, and the 3 other vlans it's required on below it (Staff Wifi VLAN, Student Wifi VLAN, and the VLAN our mac suite is on). It will the cache any content on those 4 vlans, i set it up this time last year and has worked flawlessly all year. All i had to do with add the VLANs to the Mac and tick the sharing option for content caching (i added a 2TB external drive to store the cache also) -

We push it out via VPP now as it's on the app store, so much easier! -
[1809, ou] WiFi not automatically reconnecting on boot
DalekSec replied to Cat_Jam148's topic in Windows 10
We had a similar problem in 1709 where it would connect but say 'action needed' this was the fix, might be a setting in the same reg area for your fix. HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\NlaSvc\Parameters\Internet> EnableActiveProbing set to: 0 -

Personally i don't buy or recommend anything other than SSDs, NVMe's etc. The amount of people complaining about slow PCs just to find out they have a HDD as boot, swap it for an SSD and it's like a brand new computer! I even updated my Mac Cube G4 to one (the HDD clicking was annoying)

My MacBook 13" is the perfect size, anything smaller is too small anything bigger would be too weighty and large to go in my bag

My 1800x is still doing the job atm, i don't really need to upgrade. Plus after a brought a 2080ti this year i dont want to have another 750ish going out!

It's going to take all my energy not to buy a 3950x.....

Yeah sorry that's what i meant, i didn't set this up my director did but we use these kinda things for users who don't want to use their phones: https://www.protectimus.com/slim-mini/?ref=Office-365-MFA-token-article-button

What service do you want 2FA setup for? Also worth bearing in mind some people don't want to use their person phones for work stuff, we had to provide some staff with 2FA tokens (the name alludes me atm) that they use instead of their phones.

Just had a phone call from Schoolsbroadband who have taken over a contract we had with them, turns out they went into liquidation in February and this is the first we've heard! Had a quick search on here and didn't see it being mentioned so posting it to make people aware! https://www.theregister.co.uk/2019/02/20/apples_reseller_pulls_down_the_shutters_calls_in_the_administrators/

Could it be to do with the message at the top?

For the vast majority of school this is just too much work. If you have a brand new network then sure go ahead but for those with windows across the board the training of staff alone is a huge work load let alone infrastructure work. £40 is ridiculously expensive for an adaptor, if you have 100 staff (which we do) that's already £4k just for adaptors! We have surfaces here and they do everything the iPad pros do and more and we didn't have to go and spend £40 on a adaptor or around £100 for a Apple TV in each room. Plus staff didn't need training on them as it's the same as their old laptops but with a touch screen pretty much! Don't get me wrong i would love to have iPad Pros they are easier to manage than Windows devices, but the training, cost and upheaval of the physical infrastructure would be a big ask for little benefit if any! It may work for your schools but that doesn't mean it works for everyone and everyone should do it.

DalekSec replied to Dos_Box's topic in Legacy CMS Comments
Cheers everyone for a great day all around! Was good to finally put loads of faces to avatars! Also thanks to @ICTDirect_Dave for putting me in his book, so i can now firmly said i'm an author* and rub it in peoples faces. "I'm a dyslexic author don't you know, yes i have met JK Rowling and she said i was the best up and coming author since Peter Ian Staker" *I had to google how to author.
