What's the oldest bit of kit you still have running?
DalekSec replied to PrimaryTech's topic in General Chat
During our last PATesting half term just gone, i found that Science had a bunch of Acer laptops from circa 92 (before i was born) that they were still using for some of their Science equipment... running Windows 95 so someone went to the struggle of upgrading them! The mouse buttons were on the side of the device with a small track ball next to the keyboard on the top. Edit: It was a Compaq Contura Aero 4/33c, not a acer! -
Alcohol....back when i didn't drink! (I do now)

Thanks guys, looks like we need to get the Azure AD connector working either way then!

It's that wonderful time of year! No i don't mean Christmas i mean it's time to update our Adobe..... We currently have Device licenses (Of which we have 120 used across 2 sites), which are now defunct as far as i'm aware. Leaving us with 2 choices the Shared Device Licenses or Named user license. The user license does look appealing but the issue we have is that we need it across 2 sites which have separate local ADs but are joined in Azure AD. I spoke to the reseller who said we would need to merge the two ADs, i wasn't to sure if he knew what i meant when i mentioned Azure AD. I did find this: https://helpx.adobe.com/uk/enterprise/using/sso-setup-azure.html which seems to suggest we can but i don't want to go ahead with the order and it turns out you can't! Has anyone setup Adobe licensing with Azure AD? If not think we will go with the new type of Device licenses Thanks Dalek

Buy the 120GB ones as when the devices finally goes pop at least you have a decent sized SSD to reuse in a Windows PC

Same i have 3 AC Nanos, old house with thick walls, not kidding the rear wall of the house is around 1m thick so no coverage to the extension. Luckily got an external cable and wired up a point in the back room to sort it.

135 should be fine for 30 people as long as you have decent WiFi points instead of crud ones (Looking at you HomeHub) and all 30 of them aren't expecting to stream 4k at the same time! We have around 60mbps (Rural broadband) have about 15 devices on it at once and even with family and friends around never had issues with bandwidth.

PaperCut Mobility Print with Chromebooks - Searchdomain issue
DalekSec replied to richieh's topic in Cloud Services
We had a similar issue recently, thought it was down to the SearchDomain being blank, turns out it's to do with the SSL Cert, See: http://www.edugeek.net/forums/internet-related-filtering-firewall/211017-chromeos-printing-via-papercut-mobility-print.html -
Surface Laptop is probably the best Windows laptop on the market currently, baring if you need a GPU obviously. lightweight, reasonably powerful and great keyboard! If i were a Windows user i'd have one instead of me MacBook.

ChromeOS Printing via Papercut Mobility Print
DalekSec replied to DalekSec's topic in Internet Related/Filtering/Firewall
Ours was slightly different, we could see the print and select it to print but it error'd out, the fix in the end was changing the SSL cert in Mobility Print from our one to the default Papercut one. -

Mobile data for Microsoft surface pro
DalekSec replied to genesis's topic in Learning Network Manager
The 4G dongle we have has a full size SIM Card slot, which i guess most will have. It gives out it's own SSID to which the Surface can connect to and then thus to 4G. You might be able to get USB ones, not something i've looked into. -
Mobile data for Microsoft surface pro
DalekSec replied to genesis's topic in Learning Network Manager
What model of Surface Pro did you get? The latest (7) does not have built in LTE, some other models do, so the 7 also doesn't have a SIM card reader. As for a data only deal, we use 3 for our 4G dongle. -
Schoolsbroadband - Netsweeper issues
DalekSec replied to stevenramsden's topic in Internet Related/Filtering/Firewall
We've had an issue with the Mac Wagent not passing the logged in user info to Netsweeper so it either says NoAuth or Root... Support are on it but it's been like this now for 2 weeks. -
Can't go wrong with Corsair keyboards, best out there IMO! I have the K70 IIRC best keyboard i've had, was over £100 but might be able to find one in the deals

Pretty sure a .AAE file is not the video but the edits of a video/photo on an iOS device. See: https://www.technipages.com/file-extension-aae Are you able to get hold of the device and look to see if you can find the video and not the edits.
