  1. Having a nightmare at the minute. Because of gettings a new NAS-Server, save paths have changed and AP2 does not support the paths, I have been advised to upgrade to ActivInspire, which is fair enough. However the problem I have come across now is that none of my AP2 serial numbers are recognised by the AI software, which is resulting in me only being able to run the trial version, and its asking me to register ever time I want to ope the program. As a push, I have even resorted to using the serials off the boards, but still o luck there. I have even been into the registry of another machine with AI and tried using the serial key there, yet its not giving me the option to use it. Please help, this is causing a massive headache.
  2. I have had similar in the past, Yahoo being the offending website in that case. What I found out was (we are using Cachepilots) was to allow 'Content Server' within the global list and after that, it displayed correctly.
  3. Will have another look on Thursday when I am next in the school. Thanks.
  4. Thanks for the quick reply. If I were to upgrade to Active Inspire, would there be a site license available or would it be individual? Would there also be any sort of discount available to upgrade, rather than being new users?
  5. (Logged in as a teacher .man profile) Activ Primary 2 is installed locally to teacher latops, but I have had 2 teachers report to me that the shortcut in Local Programs doesnt work; 'Error: Problem obtaining valid path for application' and shuts it down. (Logged in as my network id or local Home user) The program opens fine. As a teacher, even if you browse the Program Files folder and locate the exe within it, it still won't run. I have tried a repair and a reinstall, both having the same effect. Teachers are added to local admin group, and I have increases the 'Everyone' permissions to full access to the ActivPrimary2 folder and yet the problem still occurs. There has been a NAS server added to the network, changing some of the save paths etc, but with it being a local install, will this affect the usabillity of it? The attachment I have provided is the debug script, but I am not sure what to make of it.

I can include the debug script text if needed, but it realy doesn't tell you a lot. NB: A new NAS has been put in the school recently. Even though the installation was local, could the fact that shared resources browse the My Doc's (W Drive) on the network? - Would a new profile need to be added?
  7. Any of you play Mario Kart? If so, I will look to add my number on soon.
  8. I got permission from the IT coordinator at my school to display the end of the internet as the homepage. Shame I have too busy hobbling around on the sprained ankle to implement it. End of the internet
  9. Well, that was big fat no.
  10. Thought that might be the case, really wanted to avoid rebuilding. Oh well, lets see what it says after I have installed SP3 and then re-do the client.
  11. I guessed when reading the error log, lol. Any idea how I can get the workstation to start correctly, or is it a re-image jobby?
  12. I have had a look, and the following will not start: Alerter Computer Browser Messenger Net logon RPC Locator Server Workstation All these are part of the same dependancy group, and will not start without the others starting up, vicious cycle :'(
  13. Yeah, I have removed and reinstalled the client services. Even re-added windows components using an XP cd.
  14. Morning all. I have a frustrating problem, I have an XP workstation that refuses to start the net logon service. Error 1068 dependancy group failed to sart. I have tried reinstalling the Network Client, but no luck. I am running sfc /scannow to see if it can find/replace any faulty files relating to it, but it doesn't look like fixing it. Only other thing I can think of trying is to load SP3 on. I have tried google searching but cant seem to find a solution to my problem. Has any body else encountered this and fixed without recloning?
  15. Cheers for this, only question I have: Do I need to physically run the resswitch.exe on the PC's I want it to go on, or because I copied the files into the 'show files' area that it will do it automatically? Sorry if its a simple question, I aint too hot on AD and OU's etc, know just enough to get by. (I am using an existing OU for our IT Suite pc's only atm)
  16. I take it I would hae to purchase a site liecense for it should I want to use this? Also, wheres the BGInfo post gone? Did he realise that you can't do it with that?
  17. This may not be able to be done, but some of our network programs change screen resolutions to a unacceptable size, and doesn't change back once the program has been exited, (can't remember which program). But I was wondering if theres anything available to to either pin to start menu, one click and the resolution goes back to standard, or even a start up script setting the resolution? Thanks in advance.
  18. Has anybody been unlucky enough to buy a dell 760 with Dell's own wireless adapter bundled in? One of my schools have had 8 installed, and not one will correctly stay active on wireless. Its very tempermental, 9 out of 10 times it will not connect, and the one time it does, it works perfect until a reboot. I have tried to manage it with dells own software, but seem to have more luck using the windows wireless manager. The adapters are aprox 6cm x 6cm x 2cm , black with a grey trim around the edges. No model number present on the box, only a serial number. I have been on Dell's website to look at troubleshooting guides, but cannot find anything relating to the adapter I have. Any help would be appreciated. Forgot to say the existing wireless setup works perfectly with the existing staff laptops, so changing the settings would be too much hassle. The os's in question are XP pro. Driver details : 1505 Draft 802.11n I am thinking is because of the 'N' band it runs on.
  19. Thanks for the replies. Simon, I think we haven't ordered from CP (to my knowledge anyway, as I am just a 'local tech monkey') because we can only purchase from approved suppliers. I will however pass your info onto my boss, to see if he can get you onto the approved suppliers list, but I can't promise anything. I spoke to my boss concerning the lindy produt and he has a spare that I am going to use, however I will be keeping the driver for use at a later date should a simmilar situation arise, thanks.
  20. I needed a Keyspan adapter for one of my schools, so I get purchasing to get one. I specified which Keyspan model we needed (usa19h or something). Anyhoo, I get a Lindy USB to Serial Converter. Great stuff. However the Promethean activ driver isn't picking it up. And on the cd there looks to be no XP driver, so I browse to the website, and the same set of drivers are on there that are on the CD. So I then go to the chip manfacturers website (after reading through the PDF file that I downloaded) and tried to use them drivers. But no such luck. My question is, has any one else used the same converter and got it working? If so, please could you link me to the xp drivers for it? USB Serial RS485 Converter Lindy number: 42845 Thanks in advance.
  21. Apologies for the re-post. I probably got it off your link Nah, found it on football forum.
  22. I want one of these for the novelty value Rolltop - Future Designer laptop
  23. Never mind, I think the good people at Easynet have just this minute solved the problem for me.
  24. Anybody else in NGFL having problems accessing Sing Up | Home I am getting a 403 error if I go through or if I bypass the cachepilots.
  25. Just out of curiosity, take the battery out and run from mains power before you wipe (if you haven't already done so). See if that fares any better.
