  1. Hi, we have several NP NX6325 laptops, which have various keys missing. Not sure where they have gone, although the kids may have a few ideas... Anybody know where I can get some more? Do I need to buy a whole new keyboard? Thanks in advance!
  2. Think I found it, but more of a problem really! I read on some other forums that the klite codec pack seems to conflict with some webcams and visualisers. I uninstalled the klite pack, and the webcam worked. Problem is, I really like the klite pack, it's installed on all our machines, but am also keen to make use of the visualisers we have purchased. Any ideas?
  3. Hi, does anyone have any of these? TTS - Easi-View We've bought a few, but keep getting an error when I connect to the usb port. Can't find a firmware update anywhere Attached is a screenshot of the error. THere is also another web cam attached to the computer. Thanks.
  4. Any news on rss feeds? I was just getting a url link earlier on my mobile rss reader, not a short description of the post. All looks good though.
  5. Thanks- I do use FOG for imaging, but it didn't have all the details for all the pcs unfortunately. Perhaps I didn't do a full inventory when adding the machines to the FOG server.
  6. Thanks all, you've saved my bacon
  7. Hi, I have to do a VERY quick inventory of the pcs/laptops at our school. With over 100 serial numbers to get, is there any piece of software that will tell me these quickly? We have a windows 2000 server, with XP clients. Mix of laptops and desktops. Many thanks!
  8. Thanks everyone, all working fine. I wanted to upgrade to N from G partly because I have a linksys pcmcia wireless adaptor, which gets very hot as it's inside the laptop. This eventually stops the wireless due to the heat. Replaced it with a USB and it's much better, and more reliable :_ Wii works fine too, after a reboot (which it doesn't say to do)...
  9. Great, thanks. As long as you can do both modes at the same time, it'll be fine!
  10. Hi, I have a Nintendo Wii, and am buying a new wireless N router with a usb N adaptor. I believe the wii isn't N compatible. Is it possible to run a router in N and G mode, so that my pc and laptop can make use of the N capability, but the wii still runs in G mode? The router is this one: W311R+ Wireless-N Broadband Router-Popular Wireless-N-Tenda Thanks in advance!
  11. we use 5 student accounts as each group in the school have their own login. Teachers find it easier to find work done by their children. When you say transfer roles, what roles are these? And does 2008 makes this easy?
  12. Here we go! Setup I would like: - Windows Server 2008, single server - Windows XP Clients - 7 user accounts (admin, teacher, 5 student accounts) 1. What licenses do I need to buy? We use Civica as Hampshire have a ‘partnership’ with them, although I’m free to use others. I don’t have a clue about CALs. 2. What kind of reasonable spec server machine am I looking at for a junior school of 300 pupils, 120 laptops/pcs in total. Current one is P4 2.8Ghz, 3GB ram, 500GB HD. Does the job! Something like HP ProLiant ML115 G5 Server - Opteron 1354 2.2GHz QC / 1GB / NHP SATA 160GB / 1Yr - Ebuyer, with RAM upgrades? 3. What version of Server 2008 do I need to buy? 4. Are there any issues having a Win2008 server with XP clients? 5. What are the settings that I need to get off the W2k server, to copy onto the new server? IP addresses, domain names etc… This is the bit that I’m unsure of. 6. Is it possible to easily transfer the 7 users on the current system to the new system, or best to create new ones? 7. What are potential issues of transferring user files over to the new system? Thinking security, permissions, ntfs type stuff. 8. Will I need to rebuild all the client machines? Or can I take them off the domain, and then join them to the new one once the server is switched on? 9. Are there any definite no-no’s to watch out for? Processes involved (in rough order): Backup everything Buy server, software and licenses Build the server and install Server 2008 (but not connected to network yet) Configure Server 2008 with domain and network settings Remove all pcs and laptops from the current domain Disconnect current W2k server from network Connect new server, ensure it’s up and running Ensure printers, login scripts, GPOs etc are setup Join laptops and PCs to domain Rejoice, or reboot… Massive thanks for any input
  13. Good advice- it would be a holiday job if I did it myself. Thankfully, it's nothing to do with the admin side of things, only the curriculum network.
  14. Awesome, thanks Chris. Will put the kids to bed then write my list
  15. Hi guys, thanks for your help. I can easily clean a machine and install a new OS, I setup a FOG server on Ubuntu, can image machines, install new hardware, do scripting and programming, use AD and GPOs, change network settings etc- fairly competent I suppose. Just never setup a Windows server, or configured it for a network. I guess all I want to do is replicate the IP settings and user settings from the existing Win2K server onto the new server, and then I'll need to setup the GPOs etc. I've got a short list of questions, and I reckon if I can get them answered, I'd be OK to do it myself (and possibly get the money for doing it!). Would it be ok to post them here? IE. anyone willing to help answer them?! Cheers.
  16. Ok, very strange, but all ok. Haven't changed anything, but seems to be working fine know on various pcs/laptops. Perhaps cuonty unblocked it? Thanks for your help!
  17. Just checked the site on our win2k server, and it is working. It's got IE6 and flash 10,0,22,87. Other pcs had IE7 or 8, and latest flash. Will check if turning off compatability mode changes things.
  18. Thanks for checking. We only have the Hampshire County Council filtering, with no control over any individual site. Any ideas on how to get around this?
  19. Can anyone see the animations on sph3re.tv : upload your animation and animator CV online ? I have flash version 10,0,45,2 installed, but the page says "You must have JavaScript enabled and Flash Player 9.0.115 or more installed to view these movies" Thanks in advance!
  20. Hi, We currently have about 64 laptops and 30 odd desktops. They all run Windows XP Pro. We have 1 server that runs Windows 2000 (Yes, really!). Medium sized Junior School. We need to upgrade our server to 2008, with correct licenses for everything. I'm happy to do imaging of the laptops/desktops, once a base is made, but couldn't setup the server. Can anyone give me a advice on a quote for supplying a server and doing this work? We are based in North Hampshire. Looking to buy from April 1st! Thanks in advance.
  21. Try using the setup manager for Red Alert 1 (0.9.8) Red Alert: Archive - The best place for all your Red Alert needs. Used it this afternoon, worked a treat. For multiplayer, add IPX protocal to your network connection. Right away sir! For king and country!
  22. Hi Simon, Just wondering if you got my PM this morning? Thanks.
  23. Thanks everyone, exactly what I wanted to hear! Having not heard of Ricoh before, they are obviously a trusty brand and provide good support. Thanks for your help.
  24. Hi, I am looking to buy 10-15 HP NX6325 laptop batteries. Quotes would be appreciated! Thanks.
  25. Hi, we are looking to get several Ricoh printers, leasing them along with a new Ricoh Photocopiers. Anyone use their printers? I've not heard of them before, and currently use HP 3800s. Any comments appreciated. Thanks!
