I am creating new user accounts and folders using a vba script. It's all working nicely, but... If I login as a student, I immediately get the error that the recycle bin is corrupt on the shared folder (the home folder) and am asked if I want to empty it. Choosing yes or no makes no difference. Next login or even same session brings up the same error. When I look in the shared folder, there is no recycle bin folder (even with hidden files shown). I am guessing that this is because I didn't create one, or does windows create one by itself? The home folder is like this : \\server\user.name$ Could it be a permission issue? I have granted SYSTEM and various other users permission to the share and folder itself. Any pointers welcome. Thank you.

We have several of these laptops, which I believe only have b/g wireless. Is it possible to do a firmware update to make them wireless 'n' ? Thanks in advance!

We've got Google apps for education. Even though there should not be ads on our GMail pages, there are! Any ideas why? There is only 1 user so far. There is no setting that I can see in the domain management section of Google Apps. Thanks in advance!

Hi, I am working with a customer who needs to set a file as read only. The client is XP, and the server is a linux based system (not sure which variety). The file is on a mapped drive, and resides on the server. When on the client, I right click on the file properties and can set it to be read only. I tick the box, and all looks fine. I then go to check if it is read only straight afterwards, and it has unset itself! It's as if it isn't actually setting the read only property in the first place. I have also used the command line attrib program, but that's makes no difference. Any idea of what the problem might be? Do I have to set it to be read only on the server? Not ideal really! We have a very simple ruckus system (9 access points, mix of b/g and b/g/n). There is only 1 WLAN with WPA2 encryption. This gives access to the school network. I have been asked to setup a guest network. Does anyone have any instructions to set this up? It only needs to give internet access, not access to our server files etc. And do I need to get users to change their proxy settings? We haven't got radius (?) or anything complicated. Any help appreciated. Thank you.

Hi, I help to run a Joomla website, hosted by DreamHosts. Something strange has happened. When the website is loaded in FF and Chrome, everything's fine. However, when loaded in IE (I'm using v9), it's gives a message "windows antivirus has 2012 has found critical process activity...." which I understand is a malware issue. I can't figure out how it got there, or more importantly, how to get rid of it! The website is Silchester School (ingore the 3MB pic on the front!) Thanks in advance for your help.

Hi, I've got a 1 TB Seagate Freeagent Go Portable HD that's seems busted. Has been working fine for several years, has loads of data on it. Only 1 partition. Last week, Windows 7 suddenly gave a message that the drive needs reformatting, because apparently it wasn't. Disk Management in Computer Management lists the disk as 'RAW', gives it a drive letter, but I can't connect to it in Windows Explorer. I've read here that an idea is to do a full format of the drive (NTFS), then use a file recovery program to get the data back. Obviously I'm a bit nervous about this, but it sounds ok in principle. Do you think this would work? And no, the data isn't backed up.... Thanks for any advice ps- programs like "Save My Files", "Recover My Files", "Zero Assumption Recovery", "MiniTool Partition Wizard Home Edition", "Handy Recovery", "iCare data Recovery Software", "Seagate File Recovery for Windows", "Find and Mount", and "EASEUS Data Recovery Wizard Free Edition 5.5.1" haven't been able to recognise the drive...

Hi, We haven't yet updated to Flash 11 on our XP / 2008R2 network. I have always used a script to update flash, grabbed from edugeek. It starts like this: What's the best way to upgrade to Flash 11? Will this script work, and I change it to flash11a.ocx (depending on the version)? Or if I deploy using the msi and GPO, will it uninstall flash 10 if it's installed, and then update to Flash 11? Once I get it to Flash 11, what's the best way to keep it updated to Flash 11? Thanks in advance!
