  1. That loads automatically anyway but is only up for about a second, or are you talking about the welcome to outlook e-mail message?
  2. We also tried it over the network, but as it was only going to be on less than 10 PC's a local install was much easier.
  3. I was cleaning my keyboard yesterday, and was thinking 'How often should we clean the keyboards and/or mice plus screens around school if at all'. Do you clean them? If so how often do you do it?
  4. We also use mandatory profiles- so much easier to manage. Staff and Students have access to outlook but only staff have access to OWA. We really want to remove e-mail access to students as they mainly use it as a chat services. Its a pain, but they need it apparently for a course and the head wants them to keep it! They're abusing the system and we can't do anything about it!!

    VPN

We haven't got 2008. We're still on Server 2003 r2. They want to access files, and sims from home. I'm not sure how it all works to be honest.

    VPN

I am looking at the possibility of setting up a VPN so teachers can access files from home. Any idea's of cost and how easy it is to set up? Its not something I've thought of to be honest. Anything to look out for? Any advise? Thanks!
  7. Yep. When I joined the school nearly 3 and a bit years ago, they were using Viglen PC's with classlink. It was the first thing I got rid off. They were paying x amount of money for support which was a waste as they weren't getting any!! Viglen were quite happy to receive the money, but were offering nothing back. Also the PC's (contenders back then) were poorly made.
  8. Everytime I hear the word Viglen it makes me shudder....
  9. This is exactly what I thought. A good installer will know what height to install the board at, and will have experience of various installs. They should have the knowledge with regards to height, power, projectors etc.
  10. Watch Becks' VERY funny encounter with James Corden...

    Qwizdom

Some of teachers use it a lot here. They like the voting and percentage area. Nightmare to setup and install the software though.
  12. In my opinion, qualifications can mean nothing at times. I'd prefer experience over them, and I tell that to people in my interview. You cannot put a price on experience.
  13. Thats the easiest way. I like it when the 'know-it-all' students try and be clever, and delete everything from the start menu...log off, then they log back in and its the same!! I've never seen so many confused faces. He he.
  14. Not the best picture...
  15. End of the day, most people would take to a well known computer retail store. They don't have a clue whats going on. So if it were me, I would charge somewhere around their prices. At least the 'customer' knows you and is in safe hands.
  16. We use Basic Redirection and redirect to the users home directory. We have one shared folder, which is then split into staff and students- which then splits to year joined.
  17. Who put that it in? Poor workmanship in my opinion. The box isn't even level!!
  18. HP support in general is very very good. We have asked a replacement hard-drive, that is still in warranty, at 4pm and arrives the next day. They have gone down hill a bit recently, but I'm sure that it was just a blip.
  19. I had this exact issue. Removed SP3 and all worked fine afterwards.

Thanks, but they are all unticked in the OU. But can't find that setting on the local PC.
  23. We've been asked for this in the past, but have said no because its too much of a risk. We tell teachers to 'lock' their PC's when not using them. Do they listen?!! So letting them have 'access' to user accounts- not a chance!!

A couple of noteable things: - The Group Policy client-side extension Folder Redirection failed to execute. Please look for any errors reported earlier by that extension - Windows has detected that Offline Caching is enabled on the Roaming Profile share - to avoid potential profile corruption, Offline Caching must be disabled on shares where roaming user profiles are stored.
