Hi Everyone Every so often, possibly a couple of times a week, i get high disk latency errors on some VMs. Would this indicate a problem with the SAN storage or the ESX hosts? When this happens we get a drastic slowdown of the network and it may last for about 10 mins or so. Many Thanks

Im looking at this now but struggling to get it to work. We are looking at moving student files to Office 365 so trying to keep a mapped drive without having to keep logging into the portal would be great. Don't want to use the onedrive for business client on windows as we don't want anything synced. A mapped drive is also easier when saving work such as photoshop or other docs. We also use folder redirection and not roaming profiles so even if the students click remember on the office 365 login page or map a drive themselves, it wont save the settings when using another PC.

Hi Everyone we are looking at possibly introducing BYOD for students (meaning upgrade of wireless, filtering and broadband) And i just wanted peoples opinion as to if its actually worth doing? In my opinion is that for it to work, every student would have to have a device. If only half the class have one, then lessons cant be planned around the use of them? I spoke to a school last week who said the uptake of students using the devices was very positive but after speaking to some parents who's children goes to that school, said a very different story. Hardly Any Y10 students use them, and one parents child (in Y7) said about half her class use one and even then its used as a calculator!! The child said the main times they seem to used is at lunch and break times! Anyone's input would be most grateful before i send out a brief questionnaire to our parents. Thanks

Hi Does anyone know a powershell script i can run to add the student advantage office licences to students? I dont to waste time adding 20 at a time. I believe this can be done by referencing a csv file? Thank

Hi Ive just been told by the reseller where i purchased my EES agreement that Microsoft no longer add the student advantage licences to office 365, and students have to enrol them self in order to get office pro plus for free. I questioned this and they said they used to be able to. Do it but not any longer. Is this now the case? thanks

Hi I ahve just upgraded the Sophos enterprise console to 5.2.2 but im having an issue deploy the client to a 2012 r2 machine. It keeps getting the error "The Installation could not be started: The parameter is incorrect. The computer may need additional configuration before installation" I have made sure the remote registry service is set to automatic and started along with the Task Scheduler Service and the Microsoft Installer service set to manual. Windows firewall off for the server so i have not set the firewall rules but is there something else im missing? Thanks

I disabled shutdown for students in a GPO. This means they have to log off before shutdown which teachers like as they don't have to wait for stations to be booted up in between lessons.

Time wasted in lessons? If they send out in an email possibly named as something like unfiltered internet, students then open it. Losing work if they haven't saved! I know you say "big wool" but its trying to prevent time and work being wasted in the first place!.

Hi I have just found out the students have been circulating a shortcut via email that shuts down the computer. in the target it has C:\Windows\System32\shutdown.exe -r and start in is C:\Windows\system32 Any ideas on how I can stop this from running? Cmd prompt is disable d by GPO so not sure where else to prevent this from running. Thanks

Just check to see if there were any disk failures and there aren't and retention policies are ok and no one has deleted anything. Is it worth restoring the DB?

Hi Has anyone had a issue in DPM 2012 SP1 where for no apparent reason, restore points no longer appear when doing a recovery? for some reason a whole months worth have disappeared!!!!! for all protection groups as well. Thanks

Its on its own server as a VM. ldf is 149,660kb and mdf is 5gb As for research I read through all the Capita articles which only seemed to mention the 10gb database limit! Other articles only mention the 1gb RAM limit for the buffer pool. Also re ran the indexing patch.

so where they have been getting me to increase the RAM on the server (and up the SQL cap) will have made no difference?

Apart from the 10gb database limit with 2012 SQL express, is there any other limitations for RAM or CPU? Capita said there isn't but I just want to clarify? Thanks

Hi Everyone Since I upgraded SQL from 2008 to 2012 on the SIMS server, SIMS has been really slow. Reports are taking forever to run and sometimes come up with and error. There is 14gb RAM in the server (2008R2) and SQL has been capped at 8gb (6gb Minimum) Has anyone else had slowness since the SQL upgrade? Thanks

I think for us its got to the point now where we've had enough. Documentation, the software and support is very poor so a venting phone call to MLS management maybe in order now!

Does anyone else who uses Eclipse.net Library software have problems with it on a weekly basis? For the last few years we have had nothing but issues with the software and since the upgrade to Silverlight version, its been horrendous!

I can create the raid drive group which is 3tb (3 x 2tb Raid 5) but when installing 2012, it wont allow me to create a partition bigger than 2tb. Is it the raid stripe size I have to se as 64kb?
