  1. Im not sure when you mean change primary DNS. All i done was add a new 2008r2 DC and move the fsmo roles over. Do i need to make this DC the primary DNS then? Thanks
  2. Yes defo. Firewall is turned off.
  3. Hi everyone More issues again today!!! My DPM 2010 server is unable to contact the remote agent on my 2 file servers. I get this error in DPM: Data Protection Manager Error ID: 270 The agent operation failed on server.localbecause DPM could not communicate with the DPM protection agent. The computer may be protected by another DPM server, or the protection agent may have been uninstalled on the protected computer. If server.local is a workgroup server, the password for the DPM user account could have been changed or may have expired. And this error on the server that is being backed up: DCOM was unable to communicate with the computer server.domain.local using any of the configured protocols. Help!!!
  4. Today ive had around 12 machines lose connection to the domain. Computers are XP SP3 but ive no idea why they have done it. about 3 weeks ago i moved all 3 DCs to 2008R2 so im not sure if that has anything to do with it. Ive checked the event logs on the 3 DCs and there are about 8 machines with netlogon errors ID5722. I have been rejoining them to the domain and they then work but i dont know whey they are losing connection in the first place! Thanks
  5. Hi Im installing windows 7 on around 30 or so NEC Powermate ML450 Desktop PC's and im unable to activate them via KMS as it comes up with and message saying there must be a qualifying OS. The Units cam with windows XP pro but i have formatated the Harddrive for the install. Would there be info in the BIOS that states if there is a qualifying OS on the machine? The HP units we have are fine. Thanks
  6. Is anyone else using Windows 7 Enterprise? I get the upgrade as part of the EES aggrement and i just wanted to if anyone has had problems with it in some way sahpe or form? I was going to start deploying so i could use applocker. Thanks
  7. I would mind a decent supplier as well. Got a few failing HP Printers. Ta
  8. No i had a new address for the server. To be honest it may be just as easy to start fresh. When i did, it cleared out the DNS entries and put them back in when it got an ip from the new DHCP server.
  9. Yes i did, Exactly how it explained. Not sure if it would of been better to install the DHCP role first then migrate or if was an issue with my 2003 DHCP in the first place that 2008R2 didn't like
  10. I have uninstalled DHCP from 2008 r2 and reinstalled it and created the new scope and it works perfectly. Looks like there was something that went wrong with the migration.
  11. Ive just deactivated the 2008r2 DHCP scope and reactivated the 2003 one and it assigns an IP really quick, iMacs also now get an IP. Does anyone have any thoughts?
  12. Tried that but its still the same. I Just found out that imacs aren't getting an IP Address at all.
  13. Is anyone else using applocker for Windows 7 instead of SRP? If so is it better/ easier to use? Thanks Everyone
  14. Hi I used the 2008 R2 migration tools to migrate DHCP. I havent unauthorised DHCP in the 2003 DC yet though, i just stop the DHCP service. Is this something i definatly need to do??? Thanks
  15. Hi I have just migrated my 2003 DHCP server to 2008R2 and Clients are taking just over a minute to get an IP Address when i do a ipconfig /release /renew A error will also come up saying "An error occured whiloe renewing interface Local Area Connection : Unable to contact your DHCP server. Request has timed out. If i then do a ipconfig /all it does get an ip address. Has anyone had this before?? Clients are XP pro SP3 Thanks Everyone
  16. I tried this and all appears to be ok.
  17. How does everyone use NTP for clients and servers? At the moment DHCP gets to point the clients to point to one of our DCs which gets its time source for the SWGFL. Would it cause issues if i specified all 3 DCs to point to SWGFL NTP server and in turn specify all three DCs in DHCP? Many Thanks
  18. I know it used to be better for performance etc but ive got 2 10k 140gb (118gb Free) SAS disks in the new DC so i dont know if its ok just to place them in the C Drive. The DC will just be a DC with DHCP and DNS, nothing else.
  19. Hi Everyone Im currently building a 2008R2 DC to migrate my 2003R2 DC and i wanted to if anyone stores the sysvol and database on a seperate partion? My 2003 Dc has two drives in a raid 1 with 2 partions and ive setup my New 2008R2 DC with 2 drives (Raid1) but only one partion. Is it ok to have the sysvol, database etc on the C: drive and not on the D: drive? Many Thanks
  20. On my deployment software I can browse the files of the image, add, remove or edit files. For XP images, I would just edit the sysprep.inf file.
  21. Does Anyone know if i can edit offline windows 7 images that i have already sysprep'd, like what you can with XP by just editing the sysprep.inf? Ive tried editing the original unattend.xml that i created for sysprep in C:\Windows\system32\sysprep but when i deploy the image,it doesn't pick up the changes that i make. eg: changing the computer name Is there another file that i have to change? Thanks
  22. Excellent. Would this be the same for FMS or would this be different. Thanks
  23. How did you manage to do this? Im almost about to deploy Win 7 to Admin computers.
  24. I thought Exchange 2007 was ok in a 2008 R2 domain funtional level???
  25. Hi everyone Im about to put in a third 2008 R2 dc to eventually bring the last 2003 R2 DC offline and i was wondering wheather its ok to put SP1 on it? The other 2 2008R2 dc's dont have SP1 on. Not sure if its just me being paranoid again!! Aslo we use exchange 2007. Would this have an impact moving to 2008 R2 dcs only? Thanks
