Alita: Battle Angel (even though I know the whole thing as Battle Angel Alita - but I think it's important to separate it from the manga, see why below) Now first - I'm going to state I've read ALL of the manga for this, so I was curious how much of it they'd do (as there's no way in hell you'd fit it all in). It was a good film - not great. There's some fairly significant changes from the original source material that I don't think help the story much, but ignoring these helps (lets face it, there's always changes from the original in anything like this!). I feel I'd have enjoyed this more had I not read the manga, but that may just be me being a bit of a purist git.

Pet Peeve: Where books, games or films are arranged alphabetically - but anything starting with "The" is arranged due to that rather than ignoring it.

Finished Darksiders: Warmastered Edition and Black Mirror over the break, I've also been bought Shadow of the Tomb Raider, FarCry5 and Dad of Boy. Instead though - I've decided to break out Star Ocean: Integrity and Faithlessness. Absolutely brilliant - harkens back to the good old days of Star Ocean: The Second Story and Til the End of Time.

Aquaman: It looks like DC are finally getting a bit of a sense of humour. Very good and would watch again. Wifey rather likes Momoa so she enjoyed it.

One of my favourite beers in existence is Old Nutty Hen from Morland Brewery, I can only describe the taste as "autumn". (and I don't mean wet leaves, wind and train delays)

I think with lagers getting less popular, and the rise in popularity of 'craft' beers, people have been looking for something to replace lager with. Light, etc. So pales have exploded onto the scene. I quite like a good range of ales, right from some of the really deep and dark tripels & porters - all the way to some of the fruity pales recently coming out. Finally finished the Platinum for Mafia III. Now I've started Torment: Tides of Numenura

Just as well really - I even tried buttering some of the puns by translating them into French, but there was still pain.

I've seen this far too often - people's perceptions of what we actually do are completely wrong. Their nephew or niece built their own PC and often people think this is the same thing - so why are they actually paying someone for that? Anyone can do it. I once worked with a headteacher that I'm pretty sure had "A mate down the pub" that was pretty outspoken about what was needed and I had to continually defend my choices, such as when he wanted to purchase a few home wireless access points to introduce wireless across the school as "that managed solution looks too expensive and these do exactly the same thing I've been told." This was obviously someone with a little knowledge but not a professional that I was having to defend myself from proxy questioning. I also once had a teacher say "My boyfriend says ". At that point I got a little irked and asked what he did for a living - the answer was not "working in I.T.", nor had he ever. She got sent away by "the mean I.T. man" after I asked her if he knew anything about setting up a domain, DNS, DHCP, least required access security, AD, etc. There are many that think "I.T. is easy", without any idea of what we actually do.

I was a lone tech for quite a while. You certainly learn a hell of a lot as you become the sole point for anything with a plug / anything that looks like it might be a bit technical. I always found you need a good relationship with line management in that case though as I came across quite a few "My other half set up our computer and they say *words*", which isn't going to work - but they don't know that and can sometimes end up being a pain. I'm currently in a team of 8 across three sites (there's three here) and it's quite good to bounce ideas off one another - or if someone has a speciality, you let them take the lead.
