Most rooms/departments now have a permanent laptop cabinet/storage and it is up to the respective departments to book and transport laptops. (Most don't move that far)

Moving from LA broadband
ellsandell replied to northeast_technician's topic in Internet Related/Filtering/Firewall
Depends on the LA really, here in cumbria we find our LEA Broadband (One Connect/BT Lancs) expensive and the customer service is generally awful. (More so because we are in Cumbria) So we are making the move over the next few months, and are switching our Filtering to smoothwall, which will hopefully save us over £6k over the next three years (minimum as we needed to replace our TMG server onsite to) and bringing services like Moodle onsite. -
More that at that price i'd expect a little more. Absolutely gorgeous machine however.

Office 365/2013 - Student Advantage/ProPlus free for staff

Avoid Misco if possible.... -
We use them at the moment - mainly for AV stuff. Have had some issues with their finance department and them missing an installation date, apart from that our Manager is fantastic.

Looking at changing our VLANS while we are installing Smoothwall, as they are fairly basic currently and will allow us to use our Ruckus for BYOD/Guest access properly. We were thinking: Default - (for management/switches) Student BYOD - Smoothwall DHCP + Radius? Staff BYOD - Win Server DHCP (For managements sake as we will be a llowing access to SIMS/Shares) Curriculum - domain (Win Server DHCP 192.168.1.1 - 192.168.4.255) Admin - domain (Win Server DHCP 192.168.32.6 - 192.168.33.255) Guest - Smoothwall DHCP Should we be looking into using more VLANS? (for Switches, Wireless APs, VOIP, Printers, Servers etc) We have an infrastructure range currently for our Managment PCS/ Servers (192.168.0.1 -.255), Printers are on a separate ip range (29.1 - 29.255). Should we also be specifying the IPs in the VLANS aswell, currently it all goes through our TMG server (which is being replaced). Picking up a setup that was done by an external company. In the interest of time. You might be better contacting Microsoft support directly? Eliot -
Office 365 ProPlus free for staff from 1st dec 2014
ellsandell replied to Marshall_IT's topic in Cloud Services
Have you got an existing Office 365 Tennant? I know we had to run a power shell command to get our email address added to the checkers. -
That will be Azure AD Premium (or Basic), which brings in extra features in addition to Azure AD. You are safe to let it run down. Office 365 uses Azure AD Free for authentication - i.e. Where Dirsync syncs to when it runs.

We got our order put through our resseller and after logging the error with Microsoft (VLSC) we got sent a key we could redeem directly into our tenancy. -

We had the exact same problem. Misco were useless, had to log a call with Microsoft and we eventually got given a key code for our office 365 Tennant. Took 2 months mind.... -
You shouldn't really be using a ".local" for a domain. Much better using a registered .tld (.sch.uk for example) sub-domain. The links below cover some reasons as to why its best practice to avoid suffixs such as .local. Why you shouldn't use .local in your Active Directory domain name.. Active Directory Domain Naming Best Practices Renaming our .local domain is on the horizon for us, so can't really advise to what is best as of yet.

Have used Vidahost before, fantastic service so i wouldn't be concerned.
-
Have you set the UPN in as to match the main domain?
-
Yeah, only by a hair. Preferred the singleplayer/ story over academy, particularly the progression into becoming a Jedi.
-
Might just have to buy this... Shame its Jedi Academy rather than outcast, as it was much better.
-
I think when we did it for a couple of departments - we had to do it manually as it wouldn't install without the device plugged in? (havent read the full thread btw )
-
Ha Misco... We use Misco (for now)... They should raise the order, once processed it should appear in your VLSC and then you should be able to acticate it through the OSA wizard. They messed up our O365 Pro for Faculty order mind (still waiting for Micorosft to fix).
