Thanks for the idea Michael, but it's far too complex for our simple needs! Just need something that is hosted externally and that can take simple messages.

I've been asked by SMGT to look into a message board for the school's website for former pupils to be able to leave messages. I want a simple one that just takes messages (no threads etc), that can be fully moderated and has to have a post approved before it's published. Does anyone know of anything like this and have experience of using a simple board? Cheers all

I bought a Sony a200 at the weekend as my old compact was getting a bit temperamental. I've always preferred an SLR so I decided to bite the bullet. The reviews for the Sony are very good and the fact that it is based on Minolta is a big plus in my book. I am a bit of a Luddite and still like using film (although it is getting more and more pricey) & I still use my old Minolta X300 which I guess is over 20+ years old and is working fine.

As in the nuclear physicist? That's a good connection! We had the American singer Dan Reed in a couple of weeks ago. Worked with the kids in the morning and then sang some songs in the afternoon. Most entertaining & nice chap too!

The Today programme on R4 played the clip this morning (albeit censored) and also played the audio between air traffic control and the aircraft that ditched in the Hudson. Compare and contrast! That kind of put everything into perspective I think!

It's well out of warranty! We did take the 'lid' off, but I'm not too sure if my soldering skills are quite up to the job! I'm not too bothered if the plug stays in place, just as long as we can get some noise out of it!

I'd looked at that, but the only option is for digital out. No internal speakers! That gives me the same as the system prefs!

Our performing arts teacher has managed to snap off the headphone jack plug inside his MacBook. Despite trying superglue and matchsticks and tweezers we can't get it out. The socket is a sealed unit on the motherboard so that's a none starter as well. Does anyone know if there is a way to disable the socket through OSX? Ta

I've just bought a new PC and want to partition the 500gb hard drive. However the built in Vista tool will only let me create a new drive of 11gb. With Win XP I would use Partition Magic, but it's not compatible with Vista. What has everyone else used? Ta

I had my old Bush DAC 90 valve radio repaired by this company who are near Chester. They did a good job, it still works and wasn't excessively expensive. Not sure if they still do repairs, but worth dropping them a line. Or try the Vintage Amp Doctor.

Is there any software out there that can log when a user connects to a CC3 server? All our teachers have vanilla lappys, but need to connect to the server when they need to print or access the staff shared area. We want to see when they connect and how often as we think some lappys are staying at home! Thanks all

I've installed it on 5 machines so far. Three of the installs went without any problems but the other two kept stalling. After a quick reboot, roll back to SP2, then restarting in safe mode, the install went fine!

We were without the internet for 4 days at the beginning of term as there was a problem with our fibre link. I couldn't walk from my cupboard to the staff room without being asked by at least 5 people 'is the internet back?'. The teachers were developing nervous twitches by the end of the second day! Glad I was at BETT for one day!
