If you're not willing to stretch the £200 budget (you'd have to stretch it quite far though!), then you are probably limited to an cheap Android option. Of the options though, I'd have to agree with above and go for a Nexus 7.

One of our teachers has asked me to install the Amazon Kindle app on the teacher PC in her classroom. I just wanted to ask if anyone knew what the licensing situation with regards to her downloading her personal books on to the school PC. Is it allowed? Or are her personal books only licensed to her for personal use and not authorised for use in school?

Well, the initial question in this thread specified 2007 and as confirmed by SYNACK and CHR1S and evident by the claims on the TechNet Social forums, it's clear that there is some sort of issue.

Microsoft Security Essentials had a nice option (like most other Anti Virus products on the market) to right click a file and scan for viruses. However, now that it is built in to Windows Defender, this option has disappeared. I tried searching Google and found an option to scan a folder, but is there any way to get the option back to scan individual files for viruses? (Can't believe that Microsoft left this out!) :|

I can't really believe I'm actually typing this post, but here goes anyway. Has anyone else been able to get the built in Mail app on Windows RT to talk to Microsoft Exchange? A member of SLT here wanted the Surface which I am setting up for them, however, it just won't connect to Exchange whatsoever. We're running Exchange 2007 here which should be supported, however, worryingly after a quick Google search I found these 2 threads on TechNet's social forums: Add your exchange account Exchange 2003 support 1 post even says that the Mail app is not working with either Exchange 2003, 2007 or 2010! So am I right to believe that Microsoft Mail doesn't work with Microsoft Exchange? And seeing as this is Windows RT, I can't even install a 3rd party client! If this is the case, then definitely well done Microsoft, really well done! :| [/sarcasm] Works fine with an iPad though!

Yes, Windows was already activated. That method also didn't work for me as I need an upgrade key. I'm using my VLSC key. I'm presuming I need to buy a £14.99 key for it to work

Definitely using Windows 8 Pro and not Enterprise I've tried that command. Even tried running it from an elevated command prompt. Nothing happens

I managed to get a free product key for Media Center yesterday as Microsoft is offering them for free at the moment. However, I don't have the "Add Features" tool available in Settings on my copy of Windows 8 Pro which I got from VLSC and hence I'm unable to install Media Center. It seems that anyone using a VLK is affected as I've seen by other comments on Microsoft's Social Forums. Has anyone here experienced the same problem, or found a fix?

I wouldn't bother with the Learning Technologies Show. I went to it a few years back and it was nothing compared to BETT. Definitely recommend BETT over Learning Technologies any day.

I've decided to move to Virgin Mobile. I am currently on 3 and have been on a 30 day SIM only deal for the last 14 months (£25/Month for The One Plan). I was waiting for the iPhone 5, however, the deals have been a little out of my financial reach. 3 retentions haven't been very accommodating with my requests for the good deal to keep me, so I've taken my PAC code. I'll be signing up for the £12/Month deal on VM. (1200 Mins, Unlimited Texts, 1GB Data) I wanted Unlimited Data which they offer for £17/Month, however, reading Hot UK Deals and MoneySavingExpert.com I've seen that VM offer some stunning retention deals if you threaten to leave within 3 or 4 months of you being with them. 1 guy got 2500 Mins, Unlimited Texts and Unlimited Data for £8/Month! So, I'm gonna give this a try and see how it goes!

I've just tried this. I changed the profile from Super Mandatory to Roaming. Opened all the applications (with no errors), saved settings and then made the profile Super Mandatory again. Gave the same errors

Yes, I though this was the case. I've tested it using the builtin Administrator account, which has it's profile in C:\Documents and Settings (i.e. Not redirected) and the program works just fine. Is there any chance of getting the suite working with super mandatory profiles or is there no hope whatsoever? As I can't see us being given the chance to change the current setup.

No, the Super Mandatory profile was created years ago long before we ever installed CS6. How would I use Process Monitor to check what is being blocked?

I've logged on with my admin user domain account that has also has a redirected application data and I get the same error. Procmon? How do I go about doing this?

I've just installed Adobe Design & Web Premium CS6 on to our Windows XP PCs. We are running a Windows Server 2003 AD with Super Mandatory Profiles. Every time I launch Photoshop, Bridge, InDesign or Illustrator I get a fatal application error and the program terminates and every time I run Flash Professional, I get the message "FlashPro encountered a fatal exception. FlashPro will now terminate." I've followed advice in this thread and I've disabled ScriptingSupport.8li to get Photoshop working. However, I can't seem to get any of the applications working. The only application that seems to work is Acrobat. I've tried giving users Modify access to the following areas: C:\Program Files\Adobe C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\Adobe C:\Program Files\Common Files\Adobe But this hasn't resolved any of the issues. Any ideas what I can do?

Just had my XL 60Mb Broadband installed. SpeedTest.net Results show the following for my wired connection: http://www.speedtest.net/result/2181049650.png Wireless (2.4GHz) results on my MacBook Pro 10.8.1 show around 46Mbps. Not bad so far, so I'll give the Super Hub some time before I make any decisions about getting the RT-N16. On a side note, worryingly, the installation engineer couldn't get my telephone line working due to connection issues at the green box with the telephone lines. I'm not too fussed as I've still got my BT line until the end of the month, but it has messed up my plans for the day as I have to wait longer for a 2nd line engineer to come out and resolve the problems which are not at my home, just to do the final testing. Think I might be calling up for some discount already if they don't get it fixed in the next few hours!

I'll give the SuperHub a chance, but if the horror stories prove true, I've decided that I will go for the Asus RT-N16. Most of the recommendations I received from friends and advice on other forums were for the Asus RT-N56U, but that was way out of my price range and the N16 fits the bill giving me all I need (including Gigabit & DD-WRT support!) with the future proofing should I decide to upgrade to 100Mb in the future.

I drive an X Reg Toyota Avensis S 1.6 Manual (2000), 4AFE Engine. I bought it for £2200 back in 2006. It's been through the wars through no fault of my own. Failures: Gearbox failed (Replaced and clutch replaced - £350) Driver side electric window mechanism failed (replaced - £50) Vandalism: I've had a key scratch done twice on the passenger side along the whole length of the car. I've had the passenger side mirror kicked off (Replaced - £40) I've had the mirror stolen from the driver side mirror (Partially replaced, but electrics don't work anymore - £10) Just had my bumper yanked at from the passenger side, cracking the bumper (Fixed - £25) Accidents: Been hit in the back once. (No damage, told her to get lost!) Been hit in the side once. (Slight scratch, there was no point claiming because my excess is £500, told her to go home!) I now have 3 kids, so my next car will have to be a 7 seater, but haven't quite worked out how I am gonna afford it yet! When I do get round to working that out, I have 4 priorites: It has to be an automatic It has to have air conditioning It has to be a diesel It has to have reasonable luggage space for the bi-annual visit to the in laws in Preston. Any ideas?

The upgrade Mountain Lion for me has been reasonably good. It feels a lot more polished than Lion (if that is at all possible! ). I have found a few niggly bugs. There is the SMB issues that I posted in another thread here. Also, there is an annoying bug that causes the mouse cursor to disappear every now and then. It's been posted on the Apple forums, but hasn't been attended to so far as of 10.8.1. I've been running it on my Mid 2010 MacBook Pro, Core i7. I upgraded the RAM to 8Gb from 4Gb as I noticed it was struggling if I tried to run any VMs, but it's brilliant now with 8Gb. (Only cost me £33 from Crucial) Other than that, it has been mainly plain sailing.
