1. Ive gone with SCCM and Endpoint protection, and Im going to hijack your thread if I may Im looking to create a container which will show which computers dont have the SCEP installed. Using this page Subselect queries the easy way - Jeff Gilbert's Web blog at myITforum.com I have created the following: select SMS_R_SYSTEM.ResourceID,SMS_R_SYSTEM.ResourceType,SMS_R_SYSTEM.Name,SMS_R_SYSTEM.SMSUniqueIdentifier,SMS_R_SYSTEM.ResourceDomainORWorkgroup,SMS_R_SYSTEM.Client from SMS_R_System where SMS_R_System.ResourceId not in (select SMS_R_System.ResourceId from SMS_R_System inner join SMS_G_System_ADD_REMOVE_PROGRAMS on SMS_G_System_ADD_REMOVE_PROGRAMS.ResourceID = SMS_R_System.ResourceId where SMS_G_System_ADD_REMOVE_PROGRAMS.DisplayName = "System Center 2012 Endpoint Protection") But it doesn't seem to work; what bit have I done wrong please
2. It seems there are a load of problems with one of the DCs. Going to demote it and re-promote it to try to resolve these issues before migrating to DFS.
3. I cant figure out how to change the aperture. I can change the exposure, the ISO, the white balance, but I cannot seem to find the setting for changing aperture.
4. How long does it need to be deep fried for?
5. Isnt something I have used before and always maintained regular backups. However I think this is somehting I should be using, for those files that are modified in between backup windows. How much free disk space does it require?
6. Wow I didn't even know about that upgrade. I just upgraded through to 2008R2 over the years, raising the functional level as we went. I will have to have a good read at this and start some planning. Thanks.
7. One of my DC's has stopped replicating the Sysvol share. The instructions in the error log to fix Ive tried and it doesn't seem to have had any effect: Log Name: File Replication Service Source: NtFrs Date: 24/04/2013 4:16:26 PM Event ID: 13568 Task Category: None Level: Error Keywords: Classic User: N/A Computer: DC5. Description: The File Replication Service has detected that the replica set "DOMAIN SYSTEM VOLUME (SYSVOL SHARE)" is in JRNL_WRAP_ERROR. Replica set name is : "DOMAIN SYSTEM VOLUME (SYSVOL SHARE)" Replica root path is : "c:\windows\sysvol\domain" Replica root volume is : "\\.\C:" A Replica set hits JRNL_WRAP_ERROR when the record that it is trying to read from the NTFS USN journal is not found. This can occur because of one of the following reasons. [1] Volume "\\.\C:" has been formatted. [2] The NTFS USN journal on volume "\\.\C:" has been deleted. [3] The NTFS USN journal on volume "\\.\C:" has been truncated. Chkdsk can truncate the journal if it finds corrupt entries at the end of the journal. [4] File Replication Service was not running on this computer for a long time. [5] File Replication Service could not keep up with the rate of Disk IO activity on "\\.\C:". Setting the "Enable Journal Wrap Automatic Restore" registry parameter to 1 will cause the following recovery steps to be taken to automatically recover from this error state. [1] At the first poll, which will occur in 5 minutes, this computer will be deleted from the replica set. If you do not want to wait 5 minutes, then run "net stop ntfrs" followed by "net start ntfrs" to restart the File Replication Service. [2] At the poll following the deletion this computer will be re-added to the replica set. The re-addition will trigger a full tree sync for the replica set. WARNING: During the recovery process data in the replica tree may be unavailable. You should reset the registry parameter described above to 0 to prevent automatic recovery from making the data unexpectedly unavailable if this error condition occurs again. To change this registry parameter, run regedit. Click on Start, Run and type regedit. Expand HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE. Click down the key path: "System\CurrentControlSet\Services\NtFrs\Parameters" Double click on the value name "Enable Journal Wrap Automatic Restore" and update the value. If the value name is not present you may add it with the New->DWORD Value function under the Edit Menu item. Type the value name exactly as shown above. Ive set the reg value back to 0 for now (had to create the key) but cant find any other solutions to this. Any ideas folks?
8. So i was watching Person of Interest last night, and at the same time reading this article BBC News - Boston Marathon bombings: How notorious bombers got caught and I couldnt help but draw comparisons. The fact they 'crowdsourced' everyones photos and videos and cctv to catch them, is only one step away from the 'fiction' of a computer program that does all that in real time!
9. Just wondering what time scale if any people are putting on upgrading their servers to 2012. I might start with my DC's and then file servers.. what about KMS server. I belive I need to completely replan my hyperV set up if it is clustered? Exchange 2010 I will leave running on 2008R2 for a long time - cant see any time soon we will be upgrading to 2013 exchange. Just curious to what other folks plans are for the next 12+ months ?
10. For me my local canvas is going to be seaside shots and local wildlife shots and I see some local photographers with some amazing photos. I hadn't thought about taking a photo like the bird and treating different parts of it as different layers. I eventually want to get into underwater photography being a diver but will master it on land hopefully first.
11. wow. If you compare the original, to my save as jpg, to your effort, the difference is amazing actually. If you could spare another 5 mins next time you do something like that and record the screen it would be easier to follow I have had a play with some of the layering effects within photoshop.. this is a bit of something i played i with. It makes the sea look nice but the sky gives it away:
12. @mattx they are amazing and what I am aspiring to. There is a definite different class between those and what I am taking, and I am trying to learn what that difference is. Take that single photo of the cockatoo above, with the yellow crown. The single attachment above is a direct Save-As jpg of the original photo from the camera. The one I posted with the bunch was after I adjusted the levels. Neither look like they belong in National Geographic. Matt's ones, and others from this thread who have posted theirs, look amazing and I want to learn what im missing
13. When I first started this thread I was quite surprised to see people mention Photoshop to be honest as that always to me meant 'doctoring' photos. But since starting taking photos i can see it can enhance not just fake them. It would be nice to be able to take a photo that didnt need post processing, but I guess I still need to work at the lighting aspect. I assume thats why when I get my school photo taken they have the external flash with the umberella extension and all those accroes. The only photo taken with a flash above is the green parrot on the bird feeding table but I think it didnt turn out very well. Is it worth getting an external flash?
14. can I send you the 10mb raw of one of the above photos and see if you can make it look better using photoshop to see if theres perhaps some better post processing I can be doing? I see better photos from the kids with their instagram iphone photos these days than Im taking ;p
15. I have been shooting all in AV and changing the ISO and Exposure based on what came up when I looked to shoot on Auto. Ill need to look at TV
16. This was the only thing i have done to the above. The originals were a lot more 'washed' looking before I did that. I guess i need to read more because I have figured out I change the ISO and the exposure time so it must be the aperture option I am yet to figure out. This is the original of one of the photos from above before i changed the levels (will have a read about curves cheers):
17. heres a couple more
18. just had to google what 'bokeh' meant. Is there any way to change that? I have just been using autofocus and pointing it at the target, and then anything behind it is just blurred by default. Will read the rule of thirds a bit more from the breif skim i just had. I borrowed a 55-200 zoom for that holiday too which made a big difference, for the croc show i was almost in the back row - any slight left or right would have had someones ear or head in the way. What I dont like is the colour and overall quality of the photos I am taking to be honest. When I look at something like this: and I could go there tomorrow, set my camera to 0.8ƒ/14 ISO 100 35 mm like it says here SS Ayrfield | Flickr - Photo Sharing! it still would not look anything like that.
19. haven't had a chance to buy any filters or remote releases yet, or even read my collins textbook. But I did use the advice from above from somewhere to switch it to Auto to get the settings it would have used, and then switch it back to Raw (this seemed to kill the battery, I only got a half day trip to the Zoo out of it ) Here are some photos from a recent holiday. They were overcast days; I I have adjusted the lighting settings in Photoshop, but these still look really amateur. On the plus side, I really enjoyed taking them and it made me appreciate what I was looking at a lot more. And while they're nothing special, they are definitely nothing i could have captured with my old point and shoot.
20. how's the first batch coming along walter?
21. quoting them just preserves their spam long after it has been reported and deleted ;p
22. @sukh I'm just wondering if you were perhaps able to assist here please sir?
23. It booted and ran windows 8 once after first install. I got given it to look at as the touch driver didnt seem to work. It sat on my desk till the battery died, and then when i plugged it in and turned it back on to give it a try I got this error.
24. Perhaps a mod can move this to Windows 8 forum as I think it is more relevant there than here. Also a possible warning for others?! I will contact the supplier tomorrow but these things are out of the 3 year warranty now so not holding out hope of a free fix. Was hoping windows 8 might give this small touchscreen netbooks a new lease of life but looks like thats not going to happen any time soon.
25. I hate taking laptops apart. I always lose screws. Ill give it a try. Thanks
