Most of the opinion polls from YouGov etc are based on a panel of about 1000 people, so a sample of 22,000 is quite large. How they do it I've no idea but it's standing up pretty well so far but early days yet.

Volunteer at a Foodbank and with some other projects that have grown from it. I used to be Bowman class in archery for both Recurve and Longbow, but I've had to retire from it due to a wrist injury. May go back to it next year but will see. Over the winter months I got back into scale modelling which I haven't done for donkeys years, really enjoying it. Have to say I've really lost interest in computers and technology outside of work, I don't even have a PC any more, just an iPad which does what I need.

Pre server 2012 then yes snapshotting domain controllers wasn't recommended, however from server 2012 onwards it does support snapshotting domain controllers. Your virtualisation software does need to be on a version that supports 2012 though.

She looks lovely :-) Just be careful on how much you walk her during the first 18 months as both spaniels and labradors are genetically prone to hip dysplasia so you need to let her bones grow and strengthen without too much strain on them. Basically the rough guide is 5 minutes on lead/hoolying/jumping per month of age, so at the moment 5-10 mins per day max. Try doing brain training with her, so things like hiding things for her to find, teaching her tricks etc as this tires them out more than physical exercise.

I have a couple of Iiyama 23" 1920x1200 ones, quite nice. I do like monitors where you can rotate the monitor between portrait and landscape. Just make sure you use a dual head card which allows for 2 digital connections of whatever description. Don't go with one monitor on digital and one on VGA as you do notice a difference in image sharpness and colour.

Noise cancelling headphones aren't the answer. Your options are either re-locate yourself/the servers, or get a noise reducing rack enclosure for the servers. The APC Netshelter CX are very good, used them a lot in my previous job.

Have you tried the reindex patch yet, it sounds so similar to what happened to our SIMS with a similar setup.

Yes, we were 100% cpu with latency problems, the re-index patch fixed it for us.

You need the latest re-index patch off Capita, usually solves this, did for us anyway and I now have it set as a regular maintenance task.

Another one with Craven as the most suitable location, Newham the least suitable. Where I live is only 3% less suitable than Craven, so I'll stick where I am which is in another part of Yorkshire.

Unless it's a specialist printer you'd be better off replacing it with a network printer, you can get some pretty cheap ones now which are fine for 2 people and won't cost much more than a decent print server.

Had a look at this at BETT, quite nice and shiny, but there were several features missing at this time that make it unusable for us. Be very careful if going down this route, most of the features we need we were told were going to be 'In the next release' but tbh I took that with a pinch of salt.

Approach it from a different angle, look at creating a Disaster Planning and Recovery policy and look at the impact to Teaching and Learning, Safeguarding, Data Protection etc, also required timescales for recovery. This ideally needs the input of SLT and Governors, not just yourself. We did this a few years ago and went from servers held together with string like you to a fully virtualised server infrastructure with failover to another building due to the Governors demanding a proper solution, but this only happened by documenting the impact of server failure rather than saying we needed shiny new servers. We have also leased the servers rather than purchasing as this now appears as a budgetary fixed cost and also means the servers are replaced every 3 years, so we don't end up with ancient equipment on its last legs.

We've had some Lenovos, they have been pretty rock solid and their support is ok. The only thing I would say is replace the 500Gb HDD with an SSD, it makes a tremendous difference. If you're buying in quantity then Lenovo will do a custom build for you. I'd also say for us Lenovo haven't been competitive with other manufacturers bids over the last few years, but it does depend what their priorities are at the time when they bid.

Don't like the nose on the Williams, but it certainly has the best colour scheme, especially at the night races. I'm hopeful Williams will push Mercedes, but in reality I think they'll struggle to get 3rd this year as other teams with bigger budgets are sure to have caught up a bit. They're also hampered by the Mercedes engine deal as none of the Mercedes engine customers are allowed to run their engines at a higher power setting than the works team during the race, so they are kind of hampered. Not keen on the Force India colour scheme, the last thing we need is yet another silver car :-(
