Just had the same thing on a different server - paste this into your powershell window before you do install-module so that it uses TLS1.2: [Net.ServicePointManager]::SecurityProtocol = [Net.SecurityProtocolType]::Tls12 Source: https://www.codyhosterman.com/2016/06/force-the-invoke-restmethod-powershell-cmdlet-to-use-tls-1-2/

We did a mailmerge email through Word/Outlook in the end to send ours out by exporting parents emails and adding them to the options export. One option that might be doable is to create an assessment marksheet with an aspect for each of your blocks, import the options into the marksheet and then generate an individual report? Bit of a faff, but the only other way I could think of getting it to work for us.

Moving a shared folder from one drive to another retaining all permissions.
Cache replied to kennysarmy's topic in Windows 10
This is the command I used recently for migrating our file server: Mapped the drive as z: first robocopy z:\shared e:\shared /copyall /e /r:0 /dcopy:t /secfix /purge I ran it a couple of times to prestage it before the final switchover, hence the purge and secfix. -
It's Education desktop, so you get the Core CAL pack too. You can add on the Office 365 Student/Faculty option S2Y-00002 and S3Y-00005 which would give them Office at home through their Office 365 account on the A1+ licence (just got my renewal quote through so looking at options). For Windows, I think you need to look at the Student Option add-ons, not sure about staff.

[sims] SIMS Spring Release 2020 missing Predefined_Reports_v7192.RptDef file?
Cache replied to kennysarmy's topic in MIS Systems
This was in the CSM email sent out from Capita at the end of Feb for us: -
I've used the Classroom API to output it - https://developers.google.com/classroom/reference/rest/v1/courses/list - just click execute at the bottom, sign in and it'll output it for you in JSON format.

Exactly this in this case and in any case, we're now a week in to using it so to rip it out and start again in teams is going to cause far more problems. Like everyone else, I'm merely trying to make the best of what we can.

All it says is that Gmail needs to be enabled in order to use the Email Teacher/Student feature. I really want everything to carry on working through Office 365 for email and not confuse it with Gmail and fielding questions as to where the email is/has gone to/reply.

Hi We've setup Google Classroom, however we use Office 365 for emails - I'm getting asked about emailing students/teachers from within Google Classroom however because GMail is disabled, it doesn't work. If I enable Gmail, I assume it won't effect external email going through to Office 365? I'm also assuming that mail sent from Gmail will fail the SPF check, but where will the Google Classroom messages end up? Will they go to Office 365 or will they stay within Gmail/Gsuite? Any help as to the best way to fix this would be appreciated! Thanks

if you go to c:\program files\sims\sims .net - you should find it opens up the folder with your SIMS install does it? I think your folders should possibly be the other way round in the command.
-
You've just reminded me exactly what I did - however your method of fixing it worked for me this time and is far simpler. The way I actually fixed it was to create a symlink from c:\program files\SIMS to c:\program files (x86)\sims and that solved the issue.

Hi I have a member of staff wishing to use Remote Desktop however they can't upgrade past MacOS 10.10. Until now I've been asking everyone else to use the Microsoft RD Client and not had an issue, however the current version on the app store can't be installed on 10.10 Does anyone have any other RD Clients capable of running on 10.10 and compatible with RDGateway? Thanks

I assume you've tried modify on connect.ini too? Is it a single user or all users? Somethings ringing a bell about one of our users, but I can't quite remember what I did to solve it. I'm sure it was permissions related. Might also be worth checking the virtual store within the user profile incase there's something odd in there... Edit: Might have just hit me. Check the virtualstore and check the permissions on sims.ini and connect.ini. Also check that the SIMS.ini is correctly formed and that the paths are correct, particularly the simsdirectory, seem to recall that potentially causing a problem.

I think I just granted Modify permission on SIMS.ini and that seemed to resolve the issue.

Itunes Gift card on Apple School Manager to purchase apps?

I don't think you can redeem the codes, you need to purchase VPP credit to buy apps through ASM. -
[1903, au] Blue Screen on PCs Following Initial WDS Image
Cache replied to JRA's topic in Windows 10
I had that problem with conflicting USB3 drivers on Windows 7 machines, there were 2 different models of hardware where if you forced installed both drivers it would bluescreenduring deployment. I'd try bring up the c drive and take a log in c:\windows\panther\ and the setup.log / setuperr.log and see if there's anything logged in there. Not sure about the MDT side of things as mines still pure WDS with additional deployment scripts. -
I've used this a few times, worked brilliantly: https://www.exemsi.com/

Thanks all, guess I'll have to dig out my SCCM instructions out for setting up then and finally move forward with it! I suppose I should ask, do any of you have the Allow Windows to connect to Other Update Sources disabled in Group Policy or not?

Hi all Curious how people are managing store apps on Domain PC's. I have a member of staff who wants Microsoft Whiteboard, so after a bit of playing I've got the private store setup and thought I was away until I had to disable the policy which prevents windows from communicating with external update sources which makes me a bit nervous. How are other's managing installing/deploying apps and the subsequent updates? Thanks

I gave up with it in the end due to lack of time, all I could think was some strange issue with Radius but the wireless was authenticating correctly.
-
If it's just one user, I'd suspect a profile issue. Event Viewer will display more information about the error usually such as a particular file/path with access denied.

So, have you allowed all the ports/urls listed in this KB artical whitelisted access through your firewall/filter? https://community.sophos.com/kb/en-us/121936 Have you setup an Update Cache on one of your servers, that way it only registers with the dashboard intially and should pull the installation files from your onsite server? https://community.sophos.com/kb/en-us/122577#Setup I'm not sure why it's such a big issue, as with others who've posted above for us it just worked apart from an odd computer with a failed/corrupted installation for some reason. While Sophos isn't perfect, the migration was such an easy process to do using the tool. I also did it during working hours/while users were using the machines and that also caused no issues. It just requires a reboot, as it would with initial installation anyway, to finish installation as with any other computer update.

We've used Ubiquti kit for a good 4/5 years now and to be honest we haven't had any issues with it, but perhaps we don't use it a huge amount as we're still mainly desktops. Having said that,I've put it in a couple of primary schools and they haven't reported any issues and they'll hit a single AP with 30+ ipads. Whether that's a good test or not you'll be able to tell but to me it proves it's fairly solid. I did make the decision that in terms of the AP's we bought, we always bought the Pro versions. I did buy one nano but then it changed the plan for what we were doing at the last minute so it just serves my office now. Depending on how many AP's you need, would something like Ruckus Unleashed work? We looked at it but then decided since the Unifi kit was working for us, we'd stick with it.

For anyone else who ends up struggling with this - it's covered under "Access to additional services without individual control"
