  1. Whoa there hoss!! You don't have to wear a helmet to ride a bike it's a personal choice. I would never go out on my bike without a helmet and there are plenty of helmets now that don't make you look like a closet train spotter.
  2. I shall look into this. Thanks
  3. I have just installed the full version of papercut on the print server but it comes with a client program that is required to run whenever a user logs on to the machine. I have tried usinga gpo to just run the exe from the share but it will only work for admins. Can someone tell me how I can achieve this on CC3? Thanks
  4. Now why the heck would you need a purpose?
  5. Ah yes that must have been because of the great success they had when they appointed a drug tsar !
  6. Don't know why but a second reboot got it! Thanks again webman.
  7. Oh, It's applied the package but nothing has changed I'll have a double check on that one. I can't see when the qres.exe actually gets executed after the package install!
  8. Thanks webman, That is exactly what I needed.
  9. Is that on CC3? How do you send it out? Thanks
  10. Hi all, We need to change the screen resolution on all our workstations for SIMS plus it needed doing anyway as it's on 800 x 600 which is soooo last year. Can anyone let me know if this is easy to do on CC3? I have a script that runs qres but i can't seem to get it to run through the netlogon share and logon scripts! Thanks
  11. Ah yes, I had not thought about RSS. I may go off and investigate further now. Thanks
  12. Some of our students have gone to China for the World Robocup and they are keeping us up to date with their blog on the school website Prenton High School for Girls I thought rather than have the usual boring photostories rotating through on our reception Plasma I could somehow show the blog on there. There is the obvious solution and just have the webpage showing on there but I would see if anyone had any ingenious ideas on how to make it a bit more interesting? Thanks Reg
  13. I am currently looking at alternatives to CC3 and also want to get out of school for a bit! Is anyone willing to let me look round there non CC3 network some time in the future so I can see what I need to invest in later down the line? I am on the Wirral but live in Runcorn so quite a big area can be visited.
  14. Thanks Zero hour. Much appreciated.
  15. I was just going to aske how the heck that module worked. Thanks Si
  16. I can see where you are coming from but I would rather have everyone on one big happy network. My last school was a single network and it was soooooooooo much easier to maintain
  17. Will you miss any of the ranger features, such as Lan Ranger or have you found something to replace that with? Also how about package creation? Thanks
  18. I'll take a peak thanks. Fantastic sig by the way. My fave band.
  19. That's what I want to here, your 2pence worth. It's people like you who have took that leap of faith and proved that it can be done! Thanks for your feedback.
  20. I have been asked to look into upgrading our school network next, not this, summer. We currently have 2 separate networks. Curriculum and Admin. Admin is server 2003 with XP. 2 servers. 50 workstations. Supported by the LA IT support. Curriculum is CC3. 2 servers. 200 workstations. I am trying to figure out how I can merge the two networks into one big happy network hopefully without the need for CC3 or support (or lack of it) form the LA IT support team. I guess I need some suggestions on alternative to CC3 and if anyone can point out any pitfalls I may come across? I am thinking Ranger across windows server 2003/2008 as although I am pretty efficient with plain Windows I would feel happier having the extra tools that Ranger have to offer. Has anyone else recently gone through a similar experience? Thanks
  21. I am currently trying to tweak my contact us page by editing the contact template. I am trying to insert a picture that when clicked goes to an article called find us which has a google map plugin. At the moment I am having to insert an absolute link to the url of that page but I wondered if there was a way of linking directly to an article? Any ideas? Thanks
  22. Can anyone give me any examples of when they might use docman in joomla? I'm setting up our site and I am trying to squeeze every last ounce out of joomla before the site goes live when I won't be able to experiment as much! Thanks
  23. Thanks again for the quick response Si. That does seem like a sensible thing to do. Thanks again:)
  24. Right, I think I have joomla edugeek 1.5 up and running on our server properly. No I need to know how I can set up a teacher or teachers to be able to add or edit articles without any help from me. I can create a user as an author, editor or publisher BUT I cannot work out how they can then create an article an add it to a particular area. I can see how a user can add an article to the front page but not how they could for example how an art teacher could add an article to the art page! Does anyone do this and if so can they give me any pointers? Thanks
