I'm still only a linux newbie so forgive me if this eems a stupid question. I have installed fog on an ubuntu desktop machine and zimbra on a ubuntu server just to see if I could and to see what they were like. Now if i want to keep them I am wondering what I would need to do to back them up! Can anyone give me any ideas? Thanks

Thanks for the nod to prism, I'm just looking at it now and it looks very interesting.

@KMOUNT. Does that mean it will not work on desktop ubuntu? I am much more comfortable with the desktop version and have run all my other projects with it?

I just bought 30 brand new computers for our suite for £4860. We bought asus eee boxes and they are doing us just fine!

Is that a distance learning course?
-
Ah yes, Thanks for that. I had a go with it but failed. I had another go at your suggestion and using the mini setup option worked for me.

Can anyone give me some pointers with sysprep? I've used it before but used someone elses .inf file so I have never had to set it up from scratch. Do I need syspep, setupcl and the sysprep.inf file all in a folder call sysprep on the root of c: ? Then I need to set up the sysprep.inf file, which I do not know what to do! Can anyone help out? Thanks

I do need to get some folders, I guess, to put all my paperwork in, instead of dumping it all in one box! As for phones, my contract is just about up on my brick so I am looking at a G1 as I do use gmail and it's other bits 'n' pieces.

I really am finding that I cannot get organised. As a network manager I'm sure I should be but I'm not. I have a paper diary and use the schools email system, web based, and we have a helpdesk. I still cannot seem to keep myself organised and 2wondered if anyone out ther had any tips on how they do it I know I am being a bit vague but that's because I can't even organise my posts properly!

What did you think of the overall course and would you recommend them?

Thanks again guys for all the suggestions

Thanks Synack, It didn't cross my mind at all to do that. I now have a nice collection of snow clips from youtube.

Hi All, I have been asked to stck a christmas snow scene on he hall projhector for our school christmas fair. I was thinking of making an animated gif in photoshoip but then I thought there might already be something out there which would be easier for me and a better end result! Does anyone know of anything already out there? It will just play constantly in the hall where all the stalls will be. Thanks

Can I ask what the difference is between a cn and an ou?
-
Thanks guys I§ll give that a go! Still a bit confused but the mist is clearing slowly

I really am not getting this at all, I have always managed to fluke my way through connecting to ladp in the past on things like moodle. Anyway i have installed zimbra on our mac server (well why not, it§s just sat there doing nothing) and I am now following the wiki on how to authenticate zimbra to active directory. My proiblem is I am not sure how to convert the following in the script... banned = 'CN=Banned,CN=yourschool,DC=sch,DC=uk' # an OU for banned users scope = 'ou=users,dc=yourschool,dc=sch,dc=uk' #the search scope domain = "yourschool.sch.uk" # "example.com" I have a CC3 network with the following structure... prentonhigh.internal > establishments > prh > students > yeargroup Can someone explain to me how I convert that in to cns and ous and dcs? Thanks. Reg via logme in on home computer as edugeek is still blocked by LA!!!!
-
Argh, Our LA changed to netsweeper for our filter solution over half term. All blogs are now blocked, and anything with the word forum is out too, so I can't access edugeek in the day. I ran the tech support in the LA and they tel me that we will be getting training in a few weeks and then we can unblock certain sites. A few weeks!!!! They won't unblock sites for us in the meantime.:mad:

Is anybody out there using jevents calendar on their joomla? I am trying to get all events to show on the calendar but only general events show by default. Is there a way to have them all show by default. Cheers

I don't think you can use easylink without internet explorer? I could be wrong. It's a good idea though.

In was just looking around the RM site and saw this RM.com Shop: miniBus & miniBook [30 Units] Special Offer Bundle What does everybody think of these within a school? I'd love to give them a go but we have RM CC3 at the moment so I would have to add £50 extra per machine just for the privilege of running them on my network. The other problem I can see is they are so small one could easily fall in to my packed lunch box and I might take it home by mistake

Brilliant, just what I needed.

At the moment I am trying out different PCs and one thing I would like to do is compare their speeds in whichever way I can to get an overall picture of which PC might be the best to purchase. Does anybody know of any software that might do this, so I can print off some stats for the SMT? Thanks

My joomla site 1.5 has been done over as well!
reggiep replied to reggiep's topic in EduGeek Joomla 1.5 Package
I think I was done by the reset password hack. I upgraded yesterday to 1.5.7 just by ftp-ing over the top and everything seems to be working fine with no problems. Thanks guys for all the help.
