Does anyone know of anywhere where I can get some free stock footage for lessons in Movie maker. We don't need to use cameras yet, just show the students the basics of movie maker then move on to using cameras! Thanks

I'm still experimenting with our XIBO iinstall and I am trying to find some decent "extras" to embed in layouts. I have a weather one that looks pretty poor and would like to find a travel one to show towards the end of the day so staff can check the motorways before leaving. I have found that tomtom have an embeddable map but it doesn't give enough info so ideally something more like the bbc news traffic would be best. I know I can use RSS for the travel but pictures look nicer don't they!

It helps but still confused! Does this mean that once finished we could have one image with both windows and mac on it or does it mean we image with mac os and then boot into other partition and then image that partition? Thanks

I am not sure what my options are here so I am relying on the Mac gurus for help. We have 30 macs which we image using our mac server and all works fine BUT now we are going to bootcamp them so the non mac users can use the macs too. I have two questions on this. Most importantly how can we image the macs with a bootcamp partition? Secondly is there a way for the user to choose whether to use mac or windows, maybe something on boot BUT also something like a shortcut that runs a selector to choose to reboot in to the other O/S? I'm having great fun with XIBO now but I can't seem to get pictures in to any RSS feeds. Has anyone done this? Also has anyone got any decent RSS feed suggestions for a Display in a reception area? I had to take off the BBC education RSS as it was extolling the virtues of Grammar Schools which our head saw and then got upset!

Encryption, nice one I hadn't put that down. Now anyone any suggestions how this can be controlled. At the moment our SMT have encrypted usb sticks that are passworded, but are there tools to control all usb sticks out there?

I'm having fun with XIBO and I am trying to show a whole website within a window but at the moment when i try to add a site I just get a portion of the site within the window. Can anyone suggest how I could "shrink" a site to fit it in a window? Thanks

Yep includes parts unless the item is a write off, then we buy a new one.

We have just had our annual contract come through for our LA Tech support and as usual I have to make sure we are getting best value. We are currently paying about £8500 for support which covers hardware faults (RTB to fix), server support (Replace a faulty drive in raid) and general day to day problems (IE not displaying sites properly) Now I like having the one number to call and a feeling of being part of a bigger team and knowing that the support are also supporting other schools in the area BUT I need to know that I can't do this for a lot less money! Do other edugeekers have similar support with either their LA or a private company? Thanks

So if I have a moodle install running on ubuntu on a physical box could I get that running as a vmware on my windows server 2008? I really have missed the boat when it comes to virtualisation!

I'm currently updating a lot of documentation and found our old ICT future strategy document. It is very old (2002) so I thought I would try to knock up a new one. It contains a list of every aspect of ICT that we have at the moment but the hard bit is trying to decide what we should be trying to do in the short term, 1 year, and the long term 3-5 years. I'm thinking... Managed wireless Open source software alternatives VLE options Online reporting Netbooks in trollies, more of them or alternatives - Ipads anyone? Virtualisation - of which I know nothing The list is not complete so what is everybody else thinking about, what have I missed?
