I’m trying to see if there’s any contactless means of seeing and/or controlling iPads brought into IT Support? My first thought was Impero (which we have and love) but I can’t see any sign of iPad control anymore? We have AirServer but currently student WLAN is blocked; not insurmountable. I’ve recently discovered screen recording function being used as a broadcast feature; could this be tapped into with an appropriate app? Would a Bluetooth mouse/trackpad/keyboard be a viable option? How would the mouse handle being used on multiple successive devices - if student 1 didn’t unpair before they left, could student 2 pair to it? Throwing it out there for any other ideas.

Right, it's to do with the user rights of who signs into the release station (not who is signed into the PC running the software). My test student account can't exit, but my test staff accounts both can exit it...

Well isn't that a fun question. It's years since I looked at the release station, but the screenshots of it don't show the "Exit" button. I'm certain there is a way to disable it but, like you, I can't see/find one in the options! This is going to bug me now

Hi. We're testing Win10 and Office 2019 at the moment. I've raised our domain functional level (in prep for Exchange upgrade next week) and enabled AD activation inc all the KMS Host keys etc into AD. The Win10 PCs have automatically activated against it as they build. Office 2019 activates ok against AD, if I go into VAMT and tell it to. But otherwise, presently, it's showing as not activated if I start up Word. Does anyone know if Office is supposed to activate itself to AD automatically after install, or maybe 24 hours later, next launch, every Sunday, .....? Or do I need to schedule in a slmgr task to do it? Peter

Interestingly we are hitting one or two captcha’s similar to cloudfare today (not theirs) on the LAN, but I was getting same on 4G this morning. How do you “fix” cloudfare? Just wait, or reboot router, or...?

Interestingly my internet (VM) has been tiny flaky all week; I presumed I wasn’t normally home for long enough periods to notice but I wonder if it’s actually VM.

I’ve a Win 8>10 machine I bought and built at Christmas 2018 if not 2017 that is still not in daily use as I haven’t got round to transferring anything! Only thing I do is RDP into it so I can Splashtop to work!

I had come across that post earlier in my deliberations, before I'd got as far as proving what did boot and didn't boot, and whether I could get back to the original HDD boot if SSD didn't work, etc, etc, et By the time you posted the link, I was comfortable in what was happening, so following the steps in the link made sense and indeed worked. Now to pursuade Windows Update to catch up; i've had it turned off for 4 years on this PC because the PC was terrible. DotNet broke, no Windows Updates, can't install Paint.Net or Splashtop... yes I should wipe it and start again, no I'm not going to - too much stuff on it! Peter

Morning. Whilst we're at home with nothing to do (!) i've cloned my Win7 PC from a HDD to SSD. When I change BIOS boot order to boot to SSD, it boots as E: and the registry etc is still referencing the old copy of windows on C: If I unplug the old HDD and boot to SSD, it gives me a temporary profile as it is still booting to E: and just can't find C: I tried using diskmgmt to change C: to G: out of the way, so when I reboot it might pick up the new C:, but nope it still boots E: and can't find C: BCDEDIT is pointing at D: (the hidden boot partition on the SSD) so it's booting the right boot manager. Any suggestions on the right way to get an SSD to see itself as C:, with or without the old HDD connected? Peter

If i'm understanding you right, just hit the blue arrow top-right of that summary block - you can set cycle to "Today".

I researched Q till the cows came home before I bought it, and was adamant I’d be using LAN or my own WiFi. Nope, I’m using builtin Sky from the main Q box, no issues whatsoever.

Does the server have iLO, iDRAC or other remote management from power-on through to OS (at which point your normal methods take over).
